My work is closed tomorrow...urgghhh why! Normally I would be happy but we don't receive pay when Mother Nature calls for a day off. (I don't have vacation time). Dumb @$$ work doesn't know how to plow. No city and commercial plows are allowed.
I empathize with you. My dh doesn't get paid if he has to close either since he owns his own business. He will always try his hardest to get to work no matter what, but if people don't show up then he has a day where costs are not covered.:(

Sympathy like. Even though I am forced to telecommute when we have bad weather, it stinks when you don't get paid.

Haha sorry about that! My iPhone always autocorrects words and I I am in a hurry, I don’t read back over before I send. I edited it but it may not have corrected it. It is an Amazon firestick.
Yeah, I didn't know what a Firestick was either...so autocorrect wouldn't have helped me. I really am bad with tech stuff. But it sounds like a handy gadget if you don't have a smart TV!

Be safe out there today!

Thank you Figgy. I actually got home around 2:30. Left after 12:30 and got a train around 1:15. Hubs came to pick me up at the station and it was dicey on the roads (main street) because snow was falling at about 2-3 inches an hour at that point, and the plows were doing their best to keep up. Luckily hubs is a great winter driver and pulled us out of a few snow problems.

Seems to be winding down now--so far we have about 14 inches. Really pretty outside, too. I shoveled the front steps and felt great. :) Jack barked from inside, while I was shoveling. Not sure what his issue was. Hubs had taken him out earlier and he loved it--until one of his paws started to freeze and then he wanted to come home. But other than his paw, he really gets excited about snow. :joyfull:

@Mr Ferret 88 , how are you doing? Are you still safe? They closed the flood gates here yesterday as a precaution. It was WINDY. I woke up thinking there was a very clumsy burgler in my yard because I could hear stuff moving, like the trash cans. But it was a trash day yesterday and when we got back from the eye appointments, all the trash cans on the street were blown over. It did rain a lot, but we are almost on the German border, so far from the areas that would have flooded. I don't know how they fared on the coast, but the fact that they closed the flood gates says something. I hope you are staying dry and your house is undamaged! And that you have power!

The above made me think about the storm surge today on the MA coast from the large snowstorm we're having. Largest surge since 1921, I think they said. Some coastal areas (including some streets bordering the ocean in Boston) flooded today.

I was watching the news when I got home from work, and the firemen were rescuing some people from cars in flood waters. They had large rubber rafts and would put the people in those, and then pull the rafts down the street to where the water edge had stopped. It was weird watching them pull these rafts through the water that also had large blocks of ice in it from the storm! :jawdrop:

We got a few inches last night!! Nobody was expecting snow so when it started we were all like well that's nice we'll get a dusting.... But by the time I went to bed everything was covered with at least two inches. My friend was flying out tonight and was stuck in the runway for five hours :jawdrop::jawdrop:

Belated sympathy like.
