We are!! It's not going quite the way we planned it, and we're not using any of our fast passes, but the kid is having a really great time, so that's what matters!!

Amen. I rest my case--as you shared, not exactly going to "plan" but the kid is having a blast. And I'll bet you and hubs are also having a really good time. Remember, you can always return another year and pick up where you left off. This is just your "starter" trip, and you'll have more vacations there in the future. Enjoy!

As you chit chatters know, there was some family drama with hubs and I not attending his family's Christmas this year. Here's an update...

So tomorrow is the big family gathering. Today hub got an email from his uncle, there was another email attached it was from his twin sister (who lives in the Chicago area) to the uncle. In that email hub's sister told the uncle the time for the meal and informed him that we wouldn't be at Christmas this year because these are her words..."Brad's wife is unwilling to drive him and they are unwilling to fly." Nothing about them being unwilling to come up here, ever. Now hubs had not been included on that email but his uncle must have thought that he should see it as he included him in the reply to the sister. I don't think the uncle was trying to make any trouble because he is well aware of his nieces' personalities as he has had to miss gatherings to care for his wife that has MS. So hubs replied to his uncle and emailed another uncle and both were supportive of our situation and understand why were aren't going to come this year.

But those words just made me see red, combined with the fact that hub's older sister (the one who thinks she runs the family) did not respond to my husband's Merry Christmas text yesterday! She posted pictures of her kids on Facebook but couldn't return a simple text. Her husband and their kids texted him back even his twin sister at least texted back a simple Merry Christmas. So when today when hubs read that email to me I just exploded because to me they are just treating him like dirt and have for years. It was my tipping point. I told hubs that I'm done with them and honestly if I see his sisters and either one of them make some sort of comment about it in the future I don't think I can hold back. I'm pretty easy going and I've put up with their slights for years because I know they mean something to hubs but they just treated him poorly one too many times for me. I get very protective of people who mean a lot to me, so maybe I won't be seeing them in the future. Ugh!

Oh and a little bit ago hubs got a text from the one sister's husband that he mailed my present out today (I guess he had my name for Christmas). My first inclination is to send the present back because I really don't want anything from those people. However, it is probably a Disney book I've been wanting to read for months, the new one about the Ink and Paint Department. So what to do?

Oh thanks again for listening/reading, sorry. :(Again, you all are the best! :inlove:

After reading the derogatory comments his sister made about you, I am ecstatic that you never went to visit her and the others this Christmas. I hope you never have to see them again. From what you've shared here the past few years on the forum, you're just about the last person I could imagine, that should ever be on the receiving end of unprovoked insults.

At best, family dynamics are tricky, and it's tough for you to be in the middle of him and his family--despite how dysfunctional and self-centered his sisters are. He may need some time to sort through this, particularly if this is how they have managed to get their selfish way, by steamrolling others for years now. Yes, I am sure they also treat non-family members at times, with the same lack of respect.

Personally, I'd love to see him tell them off.

My wife said that Facebook and some other sites are "safe" to view in a hotel but apparantly WDWMagic lacks some protection? I don't know if she is correct but since then I've used my phone to view tripadvisor but I'm only doing WGWMagic on the hotel's lobby computer. Feel free to reinforce my wife's opinion or dispute it. She'll never see what you post anyway :)

This site has the https: now (for some time, it did not--but it certainly has been visible, even well before you went on your trip). So, I'm not sure why your wife was seeing no protection for WDWMagic. Note: I'm not a computer person though. (Cesar RM is very knowledgeable about computers, by the way).

But anytime I've had any issues at all, I've posted them for Steve up in the Forum Help and Announcements section of WDWMagic, at the top of the forum. Either he or others who are computer savvy can often assist. Also, Steve tries to see if any patterns develop, so it's always helpful for him to receive feedback on the site.

Today it was!! This picture was from Canada but the UK was the same way! We grabbed a giant donut from joffreys next to the UK and sat on a bench to eat it though so we didn't get to France until 11:05 ish so I can't say for certain if France was too. The world showcase was crowded even though nothing was open but Les Halle's. This was at 10:45 ish:

My phone isn't playing nice with the internet here, so it's hard to upload photos. Plus it's so overwhelming and crowded that I haven't taken any general photos, really. Here's what magic kingdom looked like at around ten am when we left yesterday morning:

I'm so grateful to have avoided those crowds thanks to this forum.

I think being a first timer is making me really bad at taking general park photos, lol. We've been noticing the details but I've been trying to not take it my phone much.
The Canada pavilion may normally be roped off, but UK never was. I have never been during Christmas time, so have never dealt with such hoards of people. Glad you and your family are enjoying yourselves. Whenever you go back, I would suggest going during Flower and Garden festival, but not around Easter. ;)
I just checked our temperature and it is -10 with a windchill of -21. :cold: I think Kapono's trip outside will be quick tonight!
Walk? I send the dogs out in the yard to do their business, then they come running back in the house. Too cold for a walk for me. :coldfeet:

It's in the low single digits and breezy, none of us are winning:brb::mad::(:cold::coldfeet::cry: FLORIDA

It's definitely warm enough to go swimming every day here in Florida!!

Yeah we'll probably take a mother daughter trip in a couple years. Hopefully she'll want to do more of what I'd want to do by then. And she'll be old enough for BBB!

She hasa a little cousin that's being baked right now, so her aunty and I were thinking of maybe a mother's day trip in 2020 when my daughter is six and hers will be the same age my daughter it's now

With how hot it was in the world showcase yesterday I couldn't eat anything. I think a trip during any of the food festivals would be a waste for me.

I go to F&G for the flower displays, not so much the food. They are truly spectacular. It starts in March. Not too hot yet.

and @Cesar R M

I know exactly what warning you are receiving and have received it a few times over the last few months. I run McAfee virus protection and I get the Whoa! Do you really want to go there trying to get me not to connect to this website. It is generally when I am not already signed into the website. I am a Premium member of this site and I don't receive Ads that are sometime questionable to McAfee, it is a perk of being a Premium member. So if I'm somewhere where I have to sign into the site again I get that warning and it tells me that the site lacks the proper certification or certificate. I ignore it cause I've played on this site for such a long time and know it is safe. Just avoid the pop up ads like you would on any other site.
SUPER HELPFUL....Thanks!

See divine intervention. We had 3-4 inches on Christmas Eve. It was better traveling from my Moms back to here. Going around Ohare in evening with snow on Christmas Eve wasn't pretty. The salt and plow trucks had been out by our return trip. It is -2 here now. I'm not impressed. :cautious: Suppose to be a week of this now. NYE will need to be revised but there is Uber from the hotel so all is good. I'll just relive warmer days and that lovely Yak Attack.

-2 here
63 WDW :D

What is this Yak Attack drink and where do I get one? :hungry:

My DD spent the evening looking at Golden Retriever breeder websites. Oy. She wants a Pup. Dang they are cute.

Puppy! Puppy! Puppy!:D

Thanks for your support. I would love to never see them again. I would love to see hubs tell them off too, but there is that part of him that tells him that it is his family and he should be nice and suck up. Hubs is a very good man but then again even good men have a point when enough is enough.

[QUOTE=" Walk? I send the dogs out in the yard to do their business, then they come running back in the house. Too cold for a walk for me. :coldfeet:[/QUOTE]

No, no walk. We have a fenced in yard so I am able to let her out basically worry free. Although about a week ago a rabbit got in the fence and at first Kapono barked and started to run after it and then she broke away and was running for the house (I think she was scared in the end of the rabbit). I had to go out and open the gate for the rabbit to get out. I had to chase the rabbit towards the gate which the rabbit ended up hitting the fence gate and slamming it shut and bounced backwards at the same time. The rabbit ended up escaping through a small hole in the fence a couple seconds later. It was a comical situation.

I wanted to be able to take her for walks over my break from work but it doesn't look like that will happen because except for tomorrow (when it is supposed to snow) we will be in the negative temps all week. I could take her over to school and walk the halls but she doesn't like walking on the tiled floors and I don't want to be at school!:)
