I was reading an article that was on-line just the other day and it was listing the top 10 foolish and useless tourist traps. One of them was the Mall of America. It was on the list because the author felt that you can put all the carnival rides that you want in there, at the end of the day it is still just a mall. I don't know as I have never been there, but, as I read down through the list one of the biggest tourist traps was Epcot. Why, they said, would anyone pay that much money to go to a place that is nothing more then a place to eat and get drunk when there were other much better theme parks like DHS and Animal Kingdom to choose.
So based on that evaluation alone I was instantly persuaded to feel that the credibility of this particular "critic" was not worth the gunpowder to blow him to hell.
Anything can be a tourist trap, depends on the person. It always amazes me to see a bunch of tourists at the Mall of America, but there are a lot of fun things to do there, a variety of stores, and good places to eat. I only live about an hour away from it so it is just a place to go and hang out for a day/half day. But I suppose I can see the draw for people there is enough to do there and in the area for a vacation. There is even a wedding chapel! I suppose people like the fact that there is no sales tax on apparel, that's why I shop in Minnesota for clothes & shoes.
I'm sure sometimes feel the same way about Epcot sometimes!
