I was reading an article that was on-line just the other day and it was listing the top 10 foolish and useless tourist traps. One of them was the Mall of America. It was on the list because the author felt that you can put all the carnival rides that you want in there, at the end of the day it is still just a mall. I don't know as I have never been there, but, as I read down through the list one of the biggest tourist traps was Epcot. Why, they said, would anyone pay that much money to go to a place that is nothing more then a place to eat and get drunk when there were other much better theme parks like DHS and Animal Kingdom to choose.

So based on that evaluation alone I was instantly persuaded to feel that the credibility of this particular "critic" was not worth the gunpowder to blow him to hell.

Anything can be a tourist trap, depends on the person. It always amazes me to see a bunch of tourists at the Mall of America, but there are a lot of fun things to do there, a variety of stores, and good places to eat. I only live about an hour away from it so it is just a place to go and hang out for a day/half day. But I suppose I can see the draw for people there is enough to do there and in the area for a vacation. There is even a wedding chapel! I suppose people like the fact that there is no sales tax on apparel, that's why I shop in Minnesota for clothes & shoes.

I'm sure sometimes feel the same way about Epcot sometimes!;)

Cool, our Lido Deck was deck 9. :)
We were on deck 6, aft cabin with a veranda.
It was a looooong walk to the Ivanhoe Theater at the front of the ship...!!!!! :hilarious:
Which, normally wouldn't be a problem, but, a new friend has showed up, and has been hanging with me for a coupla' weeks now...not gout, but, like @Goofyernmost, sciatica. It goes from mild irritation, to pain, to PAIN, to a flat-out burn and numbness...!!!!!!!!!!! :in pain:
Luckily, it got better as the cruise went along, but, it's been worse since we got home and I've been chillin' too much. I think I may have slept about 3 total hours last night...
Note to self...keep moving..... :cyclops:

Anyhoo...
When is y'all's next cruise? :)
Believe me, I can relate to that. This has been going on since mid-October. Overall it is less of a problem because in the beginning, it was constant and all it took was about 2 steps to ramp it up to downright debilitating PAIN. Now it only gets to that point when I walk a while, but, it is as strong as it was in the beginning when it happens. It is very discouraging as I have had to resign my part time job because I don't know when, or even if, I will be able to go back. Very depressing, but, things could be worse and it is for many, many people.

I'm so sorry hopefully you'll be all better soon. Prayers and pixie dust xoxo

Sending Christmas hugs, and I hope tomorrow will turn out a bit better for you.

@Gabe1 , I think you mentioned recently something about the Great British Baking Show. I've caught it a few times on our local PBS stations (I also pull in New Hampshire PBS on my satellite). What a great show!!

I'm not a fancy cook, but I love watching the two chefs with their traditional British holiday masterpieces. They're like artists in the kitchen--for some reason, I'm just mesmerized watching these two and the incredible desserts, etc., they cook. I'd never try anything they make though--they measure funny--everything is in grams?! ;)

Just got back from the beach and a small restaurant trip.. Yikes! the small town was filled to the seams. I bet downtown was even worse in the other side of the bay.

Anyway, despite the little 1st world problems of trying to find parking AND waiter hilarity, we got good food. :>

Now to rest until the party tonight.

We are big fans of that show too. There is an American version at the holidays but they only aired one episode on ABC this year, one of the judges on the American version (Johnny something I think his name was) was accused of inappropriateness. I feel bad for the contestants, they didn't get to show their skills, I hope the producers invite these bakers back for another version.

It is gonna be ok. We will delay our arrival in NJ by a day . My original plan to drive from Atlanta to NJ was not smart to begin with. Over 13 hours on the road then add in time for food and fuel and crankiness...it would have been a long long day. Spending a night in Fredericksburg and then continuing on an additional day is gonna be so much better.
12/24 It is 8pm and we are in our hotel just north of the NC SC border. We left NJ at 9:30am. It was a long day but the traffic was not bad. Probably I-95 was busier Saturday than today. Anyway...we are looking forward to spending Christmas Day with relatives in Columbia SC . Here's hoping everyone has a great Christmas!

Hubs and I took our annual Christmas trip to the Mall of America today. It opened at 8 we were there at 7:15 am and some breakfast places were open so it was Tim hortons coffee and Cinnabons for breakfast. It wasn't too crowded until we left at noon which was good for hubs, he didn't want to drive his knee scooter in a lot of crowds.

Here's some pictures from the day
