Here's why my family sucks and I like Halloween better than Christmas. My sister and her daughter gave $25 Applebee's and Chili's gift cards to every adult......each and every one. :grumpy: I, the person that bought all the food and hosted the get together got......a soup bowl. No gift card for me. "You don't go there"was the excuse. Yup, NEVER doing a family function again.
Ouch

@Gabe1 , I think you mentioned recently something about the Great British Baking Show. I've caught it a few times on our local PBS stations (I also pull in New Hampshire PBS on my satellite). What a great show!!

I'm not a fancy cook, but I love watching the two chefs with their traditional British holiday masterpieces. They're like artists in the kitchen--for some reason, I'm just mesmerized watching these two and the incredible desserts, etc., they cook. I'd never try anything they make though--they measure funny--everything is in grams?! ;)

Funny thing about grams. I am a sight cook which is likely why I'm not a great pastry baker as that is more disperse. It wasn't me that spoke to the British masterpiece. I use to love the various cooking shows, kinda of addictive and I learned a great deal in the early years beyond what Gran taught me. As time went on they all became weird, more reality shows and I had no interest in bizarre ingredients and who could come up with the best combo for awful ingredients compiled together. Worse the shows that berated restaurant owners that were struggling and taking advantage of their hard times. I do miss the honest teach you new things as I love to cook. Unfortunately the majority of the shows took the turn to drama over skills and I lost interest in all that.

We all spent a lovely and peaceful Christmas at my Moms home this evening. Not a great deal of excitement but the lovely familiar family being together and just enjoying the closeness of family. Our gifts to my Mom that needs for nothing were filled with gifts that she would enjoy, not expensive but things she doesn't think to purchase for herself but was beyond excited to receive. A nice peaceful evening with a lady that is now 83. Blessed to be with her and my kids. Amen.

I'm sorry.

Friends are Gods apology for family. May your Christmas be brighter than the Eve.

Hubs and I took our annual Christmas trip to the Mall of America today. It opened at 8 we were there at 7:15 am and some breakfast places were open so it was Tim hortons coffee and Cinnabons for breakfast. It wasn't too crowded until we left at noon which was good for hubs, he didn't want to drive his knee scooter in a lot of crowds.

Here's some pictures from the day

That sounds delicious.:hungry: Sounds like your day was spent in your new kitchen.:) Stinks what happened at your dd's apartment. Some people have no shame. Very sad. Hope it all works our alright.

Limbo is interesting. But yes I cooked up a storm. It has been many a year since I had every present wrapped, stockings stuffed and food prepared and have been able to enjoy Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The only wrench was the snow. We didn't just recieve a dusting of snow. 3-4 inches came instead which Public Works and I Dot were beyond slow to realizing too and at the Eve of Christmastime. Not good. I forewent the the Christmas Cocktails and we took my truck to Grandmothers house we went. It was a long and carefully driven drive but it was nice and familiar a more Norman Rockwell type Christmas than the more modern eclectic type Christmas Eve happening now. We were fine with family time with my Mom over 21st Century Christmas'. It was about Grandma over her guests at her home.

Tomorrow we will be about continuing new traditions repeating themselves. We are loving them and have spirit of new beginnings. Look forward to the day.

OMG! And to think I was proud of myself for finally getting the rest of Christmas dinner at the supermarket yesterday. So tomorrow's dinner will be spiral ham, mashed potatoes, broccoli casserole, and squash. (Prior to dinner I put out Brie and Gouda, crackers, nuts, and Ghiradelli mint chocolate. (I also bought egg nog.)

For dessert, I bought a crumb-top apple pie and a pumpkin pie. (Plus, Redi-Whip & vanilla ice cream for anyone who wants it with their pie slices.) I have a bottle of sparkling (non-alcoholic) cider for dinner. :hungry:

But, man, that doesn't even come close to your homemade feast!!! :jawdrop:

Your meal sounds awesome! I could pull myself up to your table in a heartbeat.

Me, I did 8 hours of cooking after four hours of food shopping. It is yet another weird year for my little family after a fun Disney December and then a hard Mid December. We are all together which isn't always a given but the stars aligned a kudos to some awesome employers understanding and Gods Grace.

So I cooked up everyone's favorites in those 8 hours. Both for them and me. It is a fridge overflowing. At any moment anyone can reach in and s*ck down their family favorite and I can sit back and savor the blessings of family for the next week. Yes the amount of food in our fridge is beyond indulgent but hey it is a special Christmas for my family so what the heck.

Tens of Thousand of dollars for one Man to take a $400 dollar dishwasher. Still water cut to the first floor and basement. Zero Laundry or emergency lights. Damage to ceilings and lighting. Circuits questionable even with updates to a Historical 120 year old building that was upgraded 25 years ago for its centennial. I understand the GRAB this company and employees are going through, almost all loosing their employment. The lack of respect for the balance of those remaining in the building and the owners property is not excusable.

First do no harm. My motto anyhow.

Some day . . . and I'm not a "mall" fan in general, but that outstanding one certainly looks like something to see!!! (Placing on the bucket list . . .) ;)

Mall of America is awesome and different than all. If you come out this way to the Midwest add in Woodfield in Northern IL. It too is awesome in its own right but very different. These two malls consistently take pride in out doing each other and trade #1 mall in America over the years and decade, they encourage 'better' from each other. Both marvels.

Well still more than a full day behind in posts. Sorry about that. But wishing you all a very Merry Christmas Day.

We have a White Christmas that is beyond cold and to become a freak'n freezer as the week progresses but it is shaping up to be a much better 2018. Excited. Blessed Christmas and Happy New Year to all.
