So DH took DS to school this morning for his first day in the new school. (I had a thing at DD's school) So he apped me that they got there and a girl DS knows from Chess came up and just took him under her wing, telling him where he could put his bag, and inviting him to come play tag with her and some other kids. Already a great start. I picked him up and asked him how his day was and he smiled so big and said "GREAT!" and I almost cried because I don't think he has EVER had a "great" day at school before. He made 4 friends...one of whom was assigned as his buddy to help him get used to the rules and the agenda, etc. So far, so good.
And my FIL got to go home today. YAY!!

Sounds great! I hope things at this new school continue to go well for your son. And good news that your FIL is home.

Oh no!!! I hope he is ok!! That doesn't sound good at all! I think he needs some halloween candy to make him feel better!!

Thanks! And guess who is going to have to hand out Halloween candy now..:cautious::(. I just want to put a bowl of candy on the porch and whatever happens happens, hubs says he will sit on the porch and hand it out but it will probably end up being me. I think I'm back to not liking Halloween.

I got stuck at Phil's house in Long Island yesterday because there were hardcore storms the night before that knocked the railroad out. So trip report is slightly delayed. I'm hoping to get it going tonight if the witches and werewolves and vampires (from down in the political board) don't get me. ;)

Happy Halloween, Buddy! (P.S.: I'm too afraid to even glance at any discussions you've had down there in the politics board! :joyfull: )

Happy Halloween! We had our trick this morning, hubs missed a step going into the basement and took a tumble down the stairs. He can barely walk. So we are at the hospital and he is waiting for an x-ray. Hope nothing is broken.

And it sounds like all you east coasters had your trick yesterday with those storms! Stay safe everyone!

Sounds like we all need a treat now!

Oh no! So sorry to read this. :(

How is hubs now? Tell him to heal quickly, because the Dapper Dans do a lot of standing when they perform. (That will get him motivated to follow all his doctor's orders. ;) ) Really, though, please tell him I was asking for him and hope he's not in any pain.

Good morning everyone! I have no cool photo to share today, but I just want to say that I look forward to going to my elementary teaching job in one hour. The kids are always very cute on Halloween! :)
The night is winding down for Trick or Treat. My family happens to live in one of the handful of neighborhoods that send children to the school I teach at. It is fun to see the faces of the neighborhood trick or treaters when they ring the bell and I open the door :confused:o_O Yet.... Half the time my teen daughter greats them and then I look over her shoulder.

My hubs hands it out here. He really enjoys it--meanwhile I retreat upstairs to the computer and enjoy the evening without multiple interruptions at the door from little candy beggars! :p

Hubs is doing okay. He says it still hurts but he is being a trooper. I told him your Dapper Dan comment and he chuckled. He will be getting the real cast on Thursday, so hopefully he will keep listening to dr's orders and me. A lady from church brought over a knee scooter for him to use, they had bought one when her husband needed it for months. She said it was cheaper to buy it for how long they needed it instead of renting. That should help him get around a little better at church at least. Our house is small enough he can just use crutches here.

Since I didn't want to sit in 29 degree weather on the porch and I don't want to keep getting up we just put the bowl out on the porch with a sign since hubs can't sit out there. It is working quite well. I don't like the interruptions either.

Great news all around. I'm keeping you in my prayers that things keep looking up.
