So @betty rose back to the Indiana thing. I got a call from my ex-sister-in-law that they're going enroll my daughter in summer camp five days a week from 8-4. I'm kinda thinking what the dingdang? She went out to spend time with the other side of the family. She'll come home to 2 weeks of actually goofing off before school starts. Can ya tell I'm a little miffed by this?

Great that you gals and guys had a great time there.

my last trip there wasnt that enjoyable.
did not enjoyed the undercooked chicken wings and meat x_x
and I mean.. they were ALMOST RAW.

I think I had mentioned this in my report a few years ago.
Aw, I'm so sorry you had a bad experience. The only thing with ours was once we were seated, it took FOREVER before we started actually getting our food...there was some mix-up about tables. But once the food started coming, it was all amazing. The singer was terrible, but the food was all really good and well prepared, the service was fantastic...it was one of our favorite meals.

Whelp, parents and brother are home. And they brought me home a Guardians Mission Breakout t-shirt. My brother also now has a Rocket Raccoon plush. I don't think he's put it down since they got here, although to be fair, he evidently got it yesterday at the Aulani gift shop.

They're all quite cranky jet lagged now. I don't think any of them really slept last night. I actually got up quite early myself. 8 am.

Well did they seem to have a good time? Any less CrankyJetLagged today?

One thing Disney is known for is how they deal with food allergies. For common allergies (peanuts, tree nuts, milk, shellfish) they actually have allergy friendly menus, so if your DH has one of the common ones, that's a starting point, and then you can go from there.

I agree buffets can be challenging. Family style can be okay. We did Garden Grill in January, and they brought me out my own special everything. My family ate from the main course, and mine was separate, as it would be at a regular TS. And I have unusual allergies in addition to my peanut/tree nut allergy, and everything was fine.

I would avoid Ohana and the Luau, though, with a coconut allergy. Simply because it's probably found in a lot of stuff there. A good alternative, if you still want to eat at Poly, is Kona Cafe. It's a regular TS. I have a severe pineapple allergy, so severe that even trace amounts bother me, and even though they have pineapple on that menu, 1. There's enough diversity on the menu that I can find something on the menu I can eat and 2. I've never had an issue with cross contamination. Oh, and it's also possibly my favorite breakie location on property.

Any to avoid? Well, obviously, if you look on the menu, and there's an abundance of foods your DH can't eat, then skip it. Some restaurants on property actually aren't operated by Disney, so some of them are iffy, but most are fine (they won't have allergy menus, but a manager will still be there to talk to you)

You should check out allergyfreemouse.com. They have lots of helpful information on there.

Bottom line, though, when in doubt, always ask for a chef or manager, and don't overstress about it, as Disney always will take care of you. :)

I agree and sometimes they are more cautious than the person is with the allergies. At SciFi my DD ordered baked beans as a side. Server came back and said sorry Chef says it has applesauce in it. My DD said that is OK I can eat cooked processed apple just not raw. The server was so nervous an really really didn't want to kill my DD she was so apprehensive. Think she was glad when we walked out and DD didn't need a paramedic. In the end the DD wished she didn't order the baked beans, she said they were nasty.

Do Kona next time. Always a hit. Especially for breakfast.

I've never had a bad meal at Kona though there menu doesn't have as many choices as it once did for Dinner. And I love both Dinner and Breakfast at Kona. Honestly I really enjoy their QS too Capt. Hook's, unfortunately they broke the ordering/cooking process that once worked and it can now take you 30-40 minutes to order and get your QS food. But Cook's has Tonga Toast and I love Tonga from Kona and Cooks.

I was OK with Ohana's last fall, I actually found it pricey for what it is now.
I was far from OMG! more meh. My DS was over the top delighted. Go figure, two people sitting at the same table. My DD and I really preferred Kona. And was like a two year old when her dessert was placed before her, she loved loved it.

I wonder if they cut the staff so much that they have to rush orders so bad they end failing constantly.
Because I heard so many good things about O'Hana, But was kinda disappointed.
Bonus when my RES disappeared from the system and it took them almost 30 minutes to find under a wrongly written version of my name.

IMO it isn't as much as cutting kitchen staff in so many of these restaurants is the kitchen staff can't keep up with the high turn over of tables and preparing the food. These kitchens do not have room to expand their square footage, they only have so many prep areas, ovens, ranges etc. The majority of desserts were taken out of kitchens and sent to be manufactured in the pastry building. The head chef still gets to design their desserts offered but they pulled most of that out of the kitchens to free up some work space.

End result you had some lovely desserts go bye bye, like the Oreo Bon Bons and the delightful smore's from Primetime. That is also when you started seeing these mass produced brownies or keylime pie in a black plastic pod or pretty generic cupcakes and cream puffs at places like Be Our Guest. They are further taking the stress off the Pastry Building by changing the dining plan not to include dessert but giving you an extra snack credit to use anywhere on property.

If they have money to expand, destroy and rebuild entire buildings for DVC, they can do the same on the restaurant areas. They have technically no excuse.
Restaurants usually have a specified limit based on number of chairs, I do not see O'hana to be that big.
Hence why I really feel like the cost cuts are related to staff members as well.

Your history of deserts being moved fits the same as well. They want to move the for efficiency and cost measures, to a centralized place with cookie cutter offerings and not specified offerings to each restaurant.

I actually want to have a go at AKL's restaurants as well (the proper way and not rushed with low cash lol)

I like Jiko and Boma for Breakfast. I'm on the naughty list for not caring for Boma's dinner offerings plus they have tables packed in their like sardines.
Just not my kinda food that I care for, neither of my kids enjoyed it either.

If they were going to demolish that building at the Poly they would have done that before they redesigned the lobby. They have reservations out the yingyang for Ohana. People seem to still once love what was once real good food and now not always spot on. If the masses continue to come they have no need to fix a dang thing.

LeCellier now a 2 credit signature, no longer a difficult reservation to get. An example of guests drawing the line in the sand. Me I'd go to Yatchmen or Artist Point before I'd spend that kind of money at LeCellier. I just don't find it to be a Signature Place.
