Yes! We originally signed up for the DDP but then realized how much pressure it would put us under to hit all those ADRs so we switched to the QSDP instead. We're paying out of pocket for CRT on our last evening in the parks, but even with that we'll be getting more overall meals and it will still cost less than the DDP. Plus we only have to stress about getting to two ADRs on time (CRT and BoG), so that's a huge relief!

The only two times we've ever purchased the DDP was on our trips in July of '12 and June of '13, when I got the 50% CM discount. It was, basically, $30 per adult instead of $60. It was the plan with 1 snack, one QS/CS, and one TS per day. Most of us always ordered a $30-ish plate at our TS meal every night, so it was worth it to us in those cases, but, it was sooo darn much food for the day per person. On previous trips we always ate relatively light, and were plenty satisfied. I'd rarely eat breakfast (I'm not much of a breakfast person, but, I can eat breakfast food for lunch or dinner), and just have some juice. We would split meals at QS/CS the rest of the trip, and only had a coupla ADR TS meals in the evening per trip. It was plenty of food.
That plan is almost $70 per adult now with no discount, and there is no way it's worth it.

I've read that there's a coffee cart they bring to the Little mermaid area. As long as there is coffee, I'm all set!! :hilarious:

Hahaaa...!
Both mine and DWifey's parents drink/drank (FIL passed years ago) coffee. We even have a Miele (free coffee) at the office. Both DWifey and myself don't drink coffee on even remotely close to a regular basis. All 3 kiddos (22,24,and 25) drink coffee regularly. Go figure.

Our toddler is kind of a wild card. Sometimes she doesn't eat anything and sometimes she eats all her meal, half mine, and a third of her dad's. I figured two quick service meals between the three of us was a pretty safe bet. We'll see. I plan on doing a dining plan cost vs real life spend comparison on my trip report.

We originally planned on a character meal every day which was the only way the DDP made any sense. But we've since come to our senses and realized we didn't want an ADR every day to break even.

Yep, 2 QS between the 3 of y'all sounds like a good plan. So many times before I was a CM, and got the discount, we paid OOP, and were plenty fine splitting 3 QS/CS dishes between the 5 of us.
As I posted before, the DDP we had was just sooo darn much food. And, both the QS/CS and TS came with a dessert, if I remember correctly. We pretty much never leave room for dessert anywhere. No joke, I probably ate more desserts on those 2 trips than I had in the prior 2 decades...!!!!! :hilarious: :in pain: ;) :)

Indeed and an understatement. @donaldtoo Dwifey is an amazingly awesome lady. I always likened her strength to Eleanor Roosevelt. Lots of wisdom.

I miss her playing on the boards with us. :inlove: *waves* hi!

Thanks, Gabe!!! :) And, she is, indeed, an awesome lady...!!!!!!! :inlove: She would have to be to have put up with my sorry beeeeeeehind all these almost 29 years of marriage...!!! :D  ;)
I'm no prize, and I know how lucky a man I am...! ;)

As far as social media goes, she doesn't really play anywhere, except a little on FB. I don't even have an FB account, and am not a member of any other sites other than this one.

But, she *waves hi* right back...!!! :)

In the Parks
No
Took the girls and grandma to dinner, then came home. Belle came to greet me at the door, and then saw the girls behind me. Her eyes got really wide like, "What on earth is this?!" And then she ran away. But the girls did get to pet her with me holding her and gave her treats. I found Belle plopped on my bed like, "I am not leaving here, thank you." Now she's curled up under my arm.

Stagnate is an understatement given the state of both the Imagination and WoL pavilions. Like Figment Epcot is dang beloved. To change the theming completely to IPing will destroy what I love about that park, that was a gem.
Loosing more sponsors isn't going to help.

During Food & Wine one night during EMH it had been monsoon raining for about six hours. It was raining inside SSE, WoL earlier, the Land ride. Not drips but rain. That kinda neglect can cause much bigger issues. I really don't grasp this business model.

Yea, I was trying to be nice, but, it's pretty much a travesty in comparison to how it used to be. :cautious:
And, if that much water is getting into those attractions during typical Cen Flo rainstorms, then that's just plain and simply shisted twit...! :cyclops:
Like I posted before, TWDC (P&R, anyway) is diseased. :bored:

My tenant/neighbor is my age, and today she found out that she has developed diabetes. It runs in her family. She seemed quite calm about the diagnosis. I'd be a nervous wreck. I know that she has a really good doctor, and she will bend over backwards to do everything that he tells her. I wondered though when she said he immediately upped her thyroid medicine. Wondering if that was just the result of a recent blood test, or it went along somehow with the diabetes diagnosis. We have some similar issues. Hypothyroidism, and hypertension. I guess most 70 year people are on some kind of medication.

Yeah, that sounds right. I don't remember what they called it in Dutch. He was in the shower, she heard a kind of scream, he called for her, and by the time she got to him he was already gone. Very scary stuff.

Yep, scary, but, somethin' is gonna' get us all, eventually.
Similar thing happened to my mother's cousins husband many years ago. They also lived in No Cal many years ago when we did, they were a cool family, and we hung out quite a bit. We were back living in Texas when it happened. He was also showering in the morning, and she heard him scream and then fall. He was also gone by the time she got to him. No triple A, but a brain aneurysm, and he was gone just as fast.
So sad. They were all devastated. His wife and 3 children loved him very much. He was a good man, and fun to be around.

And yet... I am still surrounded by idiots who have those things going at all hours. This was also the first year we got ad mail from Indiana to come buy their fireworks. It is only the 3rd, and I am already tired of it. M-80's--I don't even understand the point. No pretty colors, no spark, just shake my house BOOM!

I just came in from being on the deck with my iPad. I'd be reading posts and M-80s would startle me and repeat...repeat...repeat. Came inside. :cautious:

I have a whole list of desserts and snacks I'm hoping to try :hilarious::hilarious: everyone else is a Disney fanatic and I'm just over here like

I bawled so hard when I got tagged with gestational diabetes. I was so scared. I can't imagine being calm after a diagnosis of the real deal. Nerves of steel!!

Kapono is really happy to be home. When I picked her up she gave me tons of kisses and wouldn't leave my side. I don't think she minds being at my sister's house but I think she gets a little tired of being the object of my sister's puppy's affection. :) My sister said that the two dogs were little buddies and my dog looked at me with a look that said "it wasn't my choice to be his buddy."

If we drove I might bring a coffee pot with me, that is a good idea. The Joffrey's coffee left in the hotel rooms isn't that great, not enough grounds in the pod or something as it is pretty weak, or at least it was when I drank it last year at the Caribbean. It was better than nothing, and better than walking to the food court. I do really like the Joffrey's coffee at the food courts at the value resorts and since I have to walk to the main building to get the bus anyway, it is fairly convenient to to buy, it is just so hot though. It takes about 10 minutes for it to cool down enough for me to drink it! :)

My second cup from the food court goes into a disposable coffee cup.
When we stay 2 weeks like we have the last few trips I ship a box to the hotel. One of the things is 40 paper coffee cups with lids from Sam's Club.
Since we have had the dining plan the mug gets filled and then dump'd into a disposable for my bus trip to the park. By cup 2 I'm usually set. If we don't eat at the resort one of us does a coffee/tea run to the QS area.

And if your little tyke needs a straw, pack some in your park bag. AK doesn't carry them. When my kids were little I always bought a box of bendy ones so they didn't have to stand on a chair to drink their milk

I'll add that too!! We aren't headed to AK this trip, but you never know when you'll need a straw. Plus when she's bored on the plane we can teach her to blow bubbles in some water with it. That won't get annoying at all. :hilarious::hilarious:
