Happy anniversary!!

I hate yard sales because of the haggling. People price high and expect you to haggle. I'd rather just have a straight forward transaction and not have to worry about that.

I'm the opposite about pricing, whenever I have had a garage sale I tend to price my items low (not too low, I still want to make some dough). But I figure if I just want to get rid of the stuff I might as well get a little something for it. One time a lady told me she bought more of my stuff because I had low prices, if I had it priced higher I would have been left with more stuff I didn't want.

Yep, the price for the suites has spiraled out of control since we stayed there in July of '12. The only 2 sections that were open at the time were Nemo and Cars. We had 2 Cars suites on that week-long trip with my 60% CM discount. We had another family of 5 along with our family of 5, plus youngest DD's BFF, oldest DD's BFF, and oldest DD's future hubby that proposed to her in front of the Castle on the morning of her 21st birthday, after taking a trolley ride up MSUSA with the Dapper Dans on board singing Happy Birthday to her...!!!!! :joyfull:
Yes, we may have cheated a little bit :cautious:, as that makes 13 for 2 6-person suites for a few days before future SonIL and oldest DD's BFF that had to leave in the middle of the week to get back to work and summer semester.

Although we don't generally spend much time at the resort anyway, we really liked AoA. We ate at the food court a coupla' times, and I particularly enjoyed the Surf N' Surf Burger...a crab cake with fried shrimp on top...!!! :hungry:

On our June of '13 trip, we wanted to stay there again, but, they had CM discount blackouts for the time we were going to be there, and the prices had gone up substantially. So, we stayed at ASMusic with my CM discount at a much cheaper price. :)

With a little one, make sure y'all tour all the resort sections, and enjoy some pool time. It's a pretty cool resort, especially for kiddos...!!! :)

We're definitely planning downtime at the resort and hoping the weather will be warm enough for swimming!

We just donate everything now because even when we priced super low everyone needed to haggle. Less stress this way and our stuff goes to someone in need.

I'm not a haggler, so the price I have is the price I have. Since I price low haggling would mean people taking advantage of me when they are already getting a good deal. I had a wooden rocker for sale at the last sale (excellent/pristine condition we never used it and it was hubby's ex-fiance's ) priced at $20 and someone offered me $5. Nope, a hour later someone came along and happily paid the $20.

I just don't want to have any more sales because they are such a pain in the but to set up with all the pricing and arranging. We are donating more and more too.

Sounds like a fun day! Enjoy the ocean and shops. I hope you treat yourself to a little ice cream too, that is perfect beach day food. Did your hubs go with you?

Hubs had other things he needed to do today, because the stores are all closed tomorrow, for the 4th holiday.

I had fun up in Rockport and enjoyed strolling around the shops, etc. One of my favorite things up there is looking at the sea glass jewelry they make--it's very unique.

The ocean and all the boats out there looked great on such a bright, sunny day--practically no clouds at all in the sky. Oh, and they had BENCHES all over the place--people were sitting in them, enjoying their day. chatting, drinking coffee, eating ice cream, etc. (Ahem! Disney!!! :cautious: )

The only thing I didn't like was that they raised the lobster roll prices to almost $20--summer holiday tourist gouging. Now, It wouldn't have been so bad, BUT heck--they're RIGHT NEXT to Gloucester--one of the East Coast's chief fishing areas. (Oh, remember the movie, The Perfect Storm. with Mark Wahlberg--well, the Andrea Gail fishing trawler was out of Gloucester.) So, literally 5 minutes down the road, is all the fish you could possibly need--it's not like they flew it across country! :banghead: My own supermarket makes delicious, fresh, lobster rolls for $6.99, and our local (family friendly, sit-down) restaurant charges about $10. So, instead, for lunch, I went to a little hole in the wall and got a hot dog, chips, and a soda for about $4.00. :hungry:

My neighbor across the street, the one shooting off fireworks last night, is now blasting his heavy metal music. He is playing it in his house and I can hear it clearly across the street. To make a fuss or not.....I will probably go with not because I dislike confrontations and my dog barks at them a lot and they don't complain. Still....

At least it's daytime. If he did it late at night, there would be a real issue. Sometimes, to keep the peace with the neighbors and pick your battles, maybe it's better to let it go. It' s a holiday weekend--as long as he doesn't do this all the time . . . :cautious:

@ajrwdwgirl , before I forget, I read yesterday that the 4th of July concert and fireworks from the Boston Esplanade will be telecast in full (not the truncated version like years ago) starting at 8:00 PM (Eastern) on Bloomberg TV.

Not sure how Bloomberg got this, but they're going to telecast the entire concert, including the full version of the 1812 Overture (complete with the Army howitzers and church bells from Beacon Hill). They're also going to stream it on computers/tablets. Just thought I'd pass that along. Out in your area of the country, I don't know what time they'll broadcast it, but just passing this along.

Welcome back @ajrwdwgirl . :) Can't wait to read about your trip. :)I am so far behind on this thread now. Will have lots of ketchup to do.

Had a community yard sale this weekend. I am so not equipped for these things.
Lady: " How much do you want for this?" (It was a kids skort.) I said $1(It was Gymboree.) She said, "I will give you $1 for both." (2 skorts). This was me. In my head I was thinking, "Are you kidding me? :banghead::banghead::banghead: It is Gymboree and in great shape". But what I said was "Sure, no problem." In the end I realized that I really didn't want to take the stuff home.

Today is also my 18th wedding anniversary! :):):)

First of all, Happy Anniversary!!! And I wish you and your hubs many more.

I did a yard sale once--back when my parents passed away and we had to clear out the house so it could be sold. The advice I got from a neighbor was to put a fair (low/medium) price, but not to GIVE it away. If you're going to all the trouble of getting things organized, priced, etc., you might as well get some money out of it. We certainly did bargain with people and that was fine, but we also stuck to our guns on a few items--and we got what we asked for. We pulled in close to $900 that day.
