My kids, myself, and dh always have rash guards when at the pools or water parks. Ds would actually never even think about going in a pool without a rash guard and he would never consider going without a shirt. The girls always have coverups on for afterwards. I would never let them go into a store without one on. Kids need a sense of decorum.
My boys won't wear rash guards, but they get changed into street clothes as soon as they're done swimming. Come to think of it very few kids bother with them at our pool. We do have one rule swimwear is for the pool area only!

Good morning! So, made it through last night's rains. Just north of me, I am seeing pictures of terrible flooding, that no one has ever seen before. Now the heat ratchets up. Right now it is 70 with 89% humidity. Heading to 90.

Glad you made it. We did too. We had our first rain in more than a week and most of yesterdays storms missed us. We had one around 630pm, lots of water and another around 1130pm The ground took it 'cause it has been so hot without any rain for a while.

I sent a picture to my friend, keeping an eye on their property as they are in Iowa. The photo was a huge puddle. She was so excited for us. The landscaping need a good drink and she was kindly happy for me since I didn't have to water her and my greenery.

Today is my cat Chloe's 16 th birthday. A little bit sad :( She loved licking ice cubes and lying on her Rei bag that was very flat and played with a lot. We buried her with it. We miss her very much!

I'm so sorry. So very rough. It is one of those kinda days.

My Dad passed away a year ago today right before Fathers Day. *phew*

To our loved ones that have passed. Ohana!

You can't bring alcohol into the park right? And MK is dry, except for the new BOG, correct? So I'm betting one of the major things was to get rid of the drunken morons. I don't think they will let you in if you are that intoxicated and it would be hard to GET intoxicated once you were in the park. And are grass skirts/ other costumes allowed outside of Halloween? I know you can't dress as Disney Characters unless you are under 14, but I was thinking there were some other restrictions on dress as well.
Your experience is appalling, but having a gay brother and having been to MANY a party where I was pretty much the only straight person there, I have NEVER had anything like that happen. The most bawdy thing I've ever been to in that arena was the Drag Queen Bingo, but that's not an event for children and no one ever exposed themselves. (Though it would have been REALLY squidgy if they did, since my brother was one of the queens!) And there's been some displays of affection, but no more than I see from straight people. My kids don't bat an eyelash at that, but then, they've been raised knowing about my brother and his husband and seeing that as perfectly normal. There's also a ton of bad behavior from straight people and families that goes on daily. (perhaps not on the level of exposing themselves to children, but inappropriate and uncalled for) I would guess that the bad behavior had more to do with the specific people than the days, though I understand that an experience like that could turn you off from the event as a whole. I'm glad you got to enjoy the rest of your vacation after that, though.
It is my understanding the gay days became far more civilized over the decades. It didn't help we were in the Contemporary that year. The host resort that year. Our Pride Parade in Chicago and Irish Parade south side were originally crazy wild and over the top too. They also have cleaned up all those events here. But as far as Gay Days of yesteryear it wasn't IMO Disney and UNI doing. It was the Gay community leaders that turned it around to a Pride celebration over what it launched as, similar to college students on spring break on some Florida beaches.

The Leap year celebration 24 hour party was worse than any NYE we had experienced at the MK with drunks. I'm not sure with metal detectors but it isn't difficult to bring in adult beverages into the MK and will be even easier with the transfer buses leaving from inside an alcohol park to the MK. Drinking during grad nights was also a problem. Those little bottles fit nicely in a pocket. Watch around the Dole Whip stand to see what guests are adding. Disney copied this adult beverage and now sells at Epcot

Yep, Good Morning Vietnam definitely had lighter moments. ;)

I will always watch Saving Private Ryan, and certain other similar movies, because it lets me never forget about the sacrifices so many made for our freedom.
Not a cut on you, or anyone else who doesn't want to watch it (it is definitely brutal). It is an important movie for me to help keep my perspective in focus and it helps to keep me humble and grateful. Sooo many people have given so much for our freedoms...men, women, black, white, brown, etc., etc., etc.
You get the idea. ;)
I watched it too. :)
