From everything you share with us, your family seems very close, and that does come from spending time together but respecting each other as well. You all are very lucky. Even though I haven't met you or @Goofyernmost in person, from all you guys share about your kids it is pretty clear how much you love them. I think all your kids were lucky to have you guys as dads! :) So Happy Early Father's Day!

Thanks so much!
How very sweet of you...! :)

and in honor of @Cesar R M country...we do have Mexican Avacados again flowing into the USA. Yay!

Hahaaa...!
I wish...! :)
I remember a guy doin' this at lunch, way back in the day at the old office location, once. Yes, once. ;)

I'm not sure where our avocados are/were comin' from (California?), but, I never heard of or noticed a shortage around here. :)

Hey everyone!
I'm gonna break away from the topic to ask a newbee question......

I'm not. Which makes sense since I have much less posts then you guys.
So here's the question:
At what point does a newbee emerge from the cocoon and become "Well Known"?o_O:confused:

Hello everyone. Please bear with me. I thought that I would just update you guys on our precious Chloe. We had to make the gut-wrenching decision to put her down last Thursday.:cry::cry: She was not responding to the iv fluids or eating or drinking water. She just wasn't the same kitty as she had once been. Her kidney disease finally got her. I will spare you the details because it is very hard for me to sit here and type them. She pretty much gave up and knew it was time to leave us. We brought her back home and DH buried her in our woods under a birdbath since she loved birds.
This has been one of the most difficult decisions and times in our lives. If you own a pet, you know what I mean. Our lives will be constantly changed. DH has a hard time walking past "her" room without breaking down. I figured out that we haven't been by ourselves since 1985 when our DD was born. It feels really surreal to me. Too quiet. We will get another cat in the future, but not right now.
A big thank you and hug from me and Bob to the following: @Mr Ferret 88 , @figmentfan423, @betty rose, @Songbird76, @ajrwdwgirl, @MinnieM123, and @StarWarsGirl !!! Without your thoughts and support, we could not make it through this time.
I will be back sometime soon to put up a TR about our trip. I picked up a bad cold and cough while there, so still trying to get over it.
Thanks guys!! Love you so much!:)

Oh my.
I saw your initial post, but, did not respond because I was (and still am) so far behind here. My apologies for being late, yet again, and my deepest condolences on the loss of your dear pet.

Besides the 2 dogs we currently have, we've had 8 previously over the last 27.5 years (3 at a time twice, and 2 passed when they were just puppies - so heart-wrenching).
Even with having had so many, It never gets any easier.
6 are buried in our back yard, and 2 were cremated, and youngest DD has their ashes in her room.

Again, sorry I'm so late, and my deepest condolences on the loss your beloved kitty.

Probably has to do with certain groups blocking the avocado shipments to inflate the price here in Mexico.
It used t be 20 pesos per kilo. Its now 80 pesos per kilo.
The same happened years ago with the acid lemon. They outright blocked the production (including companies like Walmart did this to inflate the price) to keep prices high until they were caught and exposed. The lemon was like 14 pesos per kilo. It ballooned to 70 during the worst.. and its now back to less than 15 pesos per kilo.

I think it has to do with time and post numbers. Perhaps above 500 posts.

You'd have to ask an admin for that. Perhaps @The Mom

I'm surprised you missed our avocado discussion at SuperBowl time. 80% of our avocados up here come from Mexico, the rest I believe from Cali and Chile.

There was a major shortage up here and throughout the East. Couldn't find a dang avocado for Superbowl guacamole anywhere. 100 tons were stopped at the border...think 20% tariff idea of imports into US from Mexico blah blah blah around then. Mexico after that not wanting perishable food rotting at the border started sending it I believe to Europe. The Mexican restaurants were scrambling here, prices ouch. And then Grocery stores just flat out didn't have any at all and it was freak'n superbowl weekend. I remember @figmentfan423 having to buy an avocado substitute for her boys to make them guacamole

Quietly all that 20% stuff seemed to melt away after a month or so and we now have avocados again flowing up from the border. I can remember telling @Cesar R M status' on the little beauties, ours were coming from Chile. And then one day the ones from Mexico were back! :hungry: :hungry::hungry:

Hugs xoxo

Thanks. I'm fine. It is just kinda a weird eerie day. It has been so warm, mid 90's and the exact same weather the day he passed last year. And when he passed immediately social media blew up sadly that the little boy was found/recovered that was lost to the alligator at Disney. So today was just off kilter kinda day.

When I drove down with my family not long after I got my license I was told to drive once we hit Virginia. The family rule for being allowed to take the test was having to navigate route 3 into the city in morning rush hour and then driving around in the city for a bit then into Queens then back home by way of the Paramus circles then up through the hills of northwest Joisey after dark. My parents figured if you could you could manage that safely you could drive on 95.

When I was 15, and still only had my learners permit, my folks allowed me to drive many times during our trip from Texas back to No Cal in the summer of '78, to visit old friends and Neighbors there. We were driving the Camper Special with the cabover camper, of course, but, this time, also towing a small tent trailer that my folks had bought.
Mom, pop, and lil' sis slept in the camper, and myself and my 2 eating machine younger brothers slept in the tent trailer.
We went up through Colorado, Utah, and Nevada on the way there, and came back the usual way of I-5 to I-10, etc., on the way back.
I remember one of the more fun parts of my driving being between Denver and Grand Junction through the mountains on I-70...good times...!!! :)

Yikes, sounds like you ran into some crazy idiots. At any event there are always the stupid people that break the rules and can't handle themselves, sometimes they can be avoided and sometimes not. I am curious if I was ever there during Gay Days as a kid with my family, as we usually went at the start of June. But come to think of it, I probably would remember because my parents would not have been very tolerant and I would probably remember them saying something about it.:( As for displays of affection, I don't mind any couple holding hands, giving a hug, or a quick kiss but over the top displays just turn my stomach. It is usually teenagers and young couples who tend to be over the top. One time I got behind a teen couple at the Jungle Cruise line in Disneyland and mid-way through they were having a full out makeout session. Now, I'm a fan of hockey, but tonsil hockey is not a sport I want to watch.

Yep, what you are speaking of is what we were watching all morning and early afternoon till we bolted. Now those costumes wouldn't even be allowed into the parks. And that was just it, I don't care who the heck anyone loves just be mindful of your surroundings and children. I was so uncomfortable with all the public displaying and more so cause I had small children with me that never saw this in the parks so it was just a very bizarre day.

For us it was easier to say we are not going back during the event and my son had missed the last 2 weeks of the school year (sweet heart of a teacher who said were done, just filling time). But given the trip reports of recent years it doesn't seem to be an issue any longer. Find old old threads, a different story. The problems now seem to be limited to way too many guests not knowing about the event impacting crowd levels and being dumbfounded that they can't get near the castle etc.

Avocalypse!

I also believe Mexico started to ship most of its avocados to Japan and Europe.
The shortage hit hard.
I wonder how long until Trump dropped his demands, because Mexico was going to drop US corn as well (and buy Brazilian)

I do remember y'all posting a little bit about it, but, before y'all got deeper into it, that may have also been about the time I skipped about a hundred pages to "ketchup", only to fall behind again. I don't remember... :cyclops:
I just asked DWifey, and she also said she has never heard of a shortage around here, and never noticed any significant change in price.
When we've gone out to eat, there have always been plenty of avocados to stuff and fry, make guac, slice up and put on dishes, at the grocery store, etc.
I had 4 avocados at work for lunch on Mon. and Tues. of this week. 2 each day...like I've posted before, just cut 'em in half, knife the pit out, scoop the flesh out with a spoon and plop the halves on a plate. A little salt and pepper (although they're just fine without it :))...enjoy...!!! :hungry:

Our cherry tree has some yummy cherries now. I was just standing by it yesterday just picking on at a time and eating them. :):hungry: It is a sour cherry tree and apparently I am the only one that likes them. No problem there. :D

Hahaaa...!!! :hilarious:
We had a huge cherry tree in the backyard of our second home in No Cal when I was a kiddo. OH MY!!! Those fresh right-off-the-tree puppies were darn (please excuse my language... ;)) delicious...!!! :hungry: :)
