Hello everyone. Please bear with me. I thought that I would just update you guys on our precious Chloe. We had to make the gut-wrenching decision to put her down last Thursday.:cry::cry: She was not responding to the iv fluids or eating or drinking water. She just wasn't the same kitty as she had once been. Her kidney disease finally got her. I will spare you the details because it is very hard for me to sit here and type them. She pretty much gave up and knew it was time to leave us. We brought her back home and DH buried her in our woods under a birdbath since she loved birds.
This has been one of the most difficult decisions and times in our lives. If you own a pet, you know what I mean. Our lives will be constantly changed. DH has a hard time walking past "her" room without breaking down. I figured out that we haven't been by ourselves since 1985 when our DD was born. It feels really surreal to me. Too quiet. We will get another cat in the future, but not right now.
A big thank you and hug from me and Bob to the following: @Mr Ferret 88 , @figmentfan423, @betty rose, @Songbird76, @ajrwdwgirl, @MinnieM123, and @StarWarsGirl !!! Without your thoughts and support, we could not make it through this time.
I will be back sometime soon to put up a TR about our trip. I picked up a bad cold and cough while there, so still trying to get over it.
Thanks guys!! Love you so much!:)
very sorry about your loss :(

I am so sorry for your loss - my cat Lola passed away in October when she got out of our house. I know how heartbreaking it is. Just know at least she isn't sick anymore or feeling pain.

On the way back from WDW, we stop for an hour for lunch and then again at dinner. For SC, we stop for lunch. We've never driven straight down to WDW; we would drive down after Hilton Head usually. We then drive home from WDW.

One year, we went to Hilton Head on December 24. Big mistake. We left at 5 am and didn't get there until 8 pm.
We only stop when we need gas. Everything else that needs stopping for gets done then

@93boomer So sorry to hear about your kitty. I lost my tabby Moxie to kidney failure. It was terrible watching him suffer. :( Don't rush to get another one. You'll know when you're ready and when you've found the right one. It was about a year after losing Moxie that we got Belle, and it was perfect because we needed her, and she really needed us. She had some trauma in her past, and she went through an adoption event and was one of the few who didn't get adopted. We got her, and now she's nothing but a love bug.

I know it hurts now, but you gave your kitty a wonderful life, and I'm sure she was grateful.

I've got an answer for that. Old A Team and the 2 other drivers split the driving:D:oops::angelic:
Yeah, like that will ever happen...

I haven't driven with my dad in the car since I got my license. He was too nervous to even teach me how to drive. My mom taught me, and he took me out on a few occasions. My mom I've driven multiple times. Although last time I drove her, she was giving me instruction, and I said, "Mom, I've been licensed for five years now..."

When I drove down with my family not long after I got my license I was told to drive once we hit Virginia. The family rule for being allowed to take the test was having to navigate route 3 into the city in morning rush hour and then driving around in the city for a bit then into Queens then back home by way of the Paramus circles then up through the hills of northwest Joisey after dark. My parents figured if you could you could manage that safely you could drive on 95.

My father barely trusts me riding a bike. Last time we were in Hilton Head he would tell me when there was a stop sign coming and I would say, "Yes Dad. And you know what, I have two eyes, so I can SEE that!" Then he would tell me to make sure I watched where I was going, and I started intentionally swerving and going, "Oh no! I'm going to crash. Ah!!!"

Great amusement for his sister, who was riding behind us.

And why we have 2 cases of water delivered to our room at the start of our last long trip. Two 36 bottle cases and no shipping $12. Done

We have never ever shared beverages, silverware etc. Taboo in our household. Have I ever mentioned I am a germaphobic? I raised two hand washing, no sharing offspring that have been formally entered into my germaphobic club. :cyclops:
Fellow germaphobe here too. :)My kids are programed by now too. I have the only 6 year old who washes her hands the second after she finishes a gymnastics class. Once a few months ago she cried on the way home and was worried she would get sick because she forgot to wash her hands. Maybe I took it too far?

That is a killer test! Know those roads quite well. Glad I don't drive them anymore though.

Do you count your stopover time in your drive. I don't include stopovers. We usually don't make long stops anymore though. Not counting an overnight hotel stay for about 7 hours either. We found that we do well by driving as far as we can and then finding a Sheetz where we can fill up the car, use a clean bathroom, and grab some food we can eat in the car. We are commando drivers. :D On the way home this last time we fid stop at a Cracker Barrel on the way home in GA. But it only took 45 minutes altogether so not too bad. We had no wait. :)
