We have a wood burning fireplace in our family room. I tend to sit right on the hearth when I'm cold.

Same here, and we love using it. We never ended up gettin' it cleaned and inspected this year, so we haven't used it at all. Will hafta' remedy that for next winter.
My grandparents, on my moms side, always had an old wood burning stove in the middle of the main living area of their farm house. The room was always so nice and toasty. They also always had a pot of coffee brewing on it. :)

This is pretty much a dead ringer for the one they had... :)

I went out in the pasture today and yep, she's in the feeder. Until now, I had only seen the barn kittens standing in their feed bowl. Ten minutes after I took the picture, she nonchalantly walked out of it. That's what I get for making the horses bomb proof......

Oh, the horses are so pretty!! Maybe the horse got the idea to stand in the feeder by watching the barn kittens do that in their feed bowl? :)

This is one of the smartest inventions ever made. They could heat up a room and you could also cook on them. Plus, they're practically indestructible. The house I grew up in was more modern, so no wood stoves. What I thought was cool, though, was the revival of these beauties in maybe the past 20 years or so, when people realized that sometimes the old ways were still good ways--and people were buying them again and putting them into their homes.

So this morning, I was in the kitchen when I notice a dead spider on the floor. I go get the vacuum out, only to realize that it's still alive. After I vacuum the entire kitchen because I'm so freaked out by a spider, I head up to my room and discover a spider crawling up my arm. After I scream and scare the cat off the bed, I change the sheets and clean that entire room. And I'm still paranoid about finding another spider.

Maybe they decided to take the scenic route and were just passing through your house. The rest of the spider family may have already moved along, and these two were just slow pokes! :)

For the record I hate spiders too....and snakes.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
And the Tar-jay Canadian experience continues to be an epic fail.
The liquidation sale began on Thursday, and folks eagerly lined up.

"Up to 30% off." Not really.
Everything was 10% off, with a couple of departments offering 30% off ... like women's cosmetics.

A friend of mine went to buy a t.v. Last week, it was on sale for $299. Thursday, it was back to the regular price of $399. But hey, now he can get $10% off that price!
So, in essense, they are trying to "liquidate" that t.v. by raising the price 60 bucks.

Honestly, they deserved to tank.

Why when you call a pizza place, they ask if you want white or red sauce? I can see white sauce if you do have a seafood pizza but...I don't know. it's just odd.

I've never been asked that when ordering pizza, but, there are pizza buffets around here that have certain pizzas, like spinach and such, with white sauce. I prefer tomato sauce, but, some of those are pretty darn tasty, as well. :hungry:
