Oh my goodness. :( Sending good wishes for your dear grandmother. I hope she will have a speedy recovery.

Oh no!! Does she live alone? Will this affect your trip? Prayers and pixie dust!!

A big thank you to you both. I just touched down in Seattle, so the trip is still happening. My grandma did break her hip, and will have to go into surgery tomorrow. She lives alone, but most of the family lives within a mile of her (my aunt actually lives on the same street). I'm just worried that this happened because she was trying to feed my dog or something.

My DS was 5 grades ahead of my DD so much of this stuff wasn't available to him or was still at that high wacky nuts price point. DD had her first laptop at 8 years old and another by high school. Higher end laptop and iPad going to college. Then year two at University she bought through the school a wondrous Apple notebook, couple of iPhones and also a few Kindles. Had her first cell phone at 9 (ds at 14, again very few could afford then and reception was not so good back then) DD grew up not knowing a world without tech. They both look at it very differently than I did or still do.

Well, DD is older. She's 11 and doesn't have all that stuff. DS is 9 and doesn't have any of it except the facebook he got to play games on, but he doesn't use it anymore and he only had us as friends on it anyway. We just don't see the need for it yet. When DD goes to high school, we'll get her a phone so she can call us if she needs to, like if there's something going on at school, or she wants to stay and study with friends. But there's just no need for them to have them at this point and they can borrow our laptops to do homework.

I guess it could be worse, but I'm betting that a broken hip at...what did you say? 93? years old.....that can't be fun for her. I hope the surgery goes well and that she recovers quickly.

Just a quick hello. Since we got back home, it has been very stressful. Our cat is having some major issues with her kidney disease. I took her to the vet today because she stopped eating yesterday. She just didn't look good. She has severe dehydration. The vet gave her the iv fluids in the office so we could come home. So, we are trying to pump her full of water and food like tuna. Heck with that kidney food. We just want her to survive, and it is not helping her if she doesn't eat it. When we got back, I got her to eat just plain old tuna. She lapped it up! So, please, send pixie dust our way. If she doesn't get better somewhat by Friday, we have to decide the next step. Thanks for letting me rant! Had to get my frustration out. I am not good company right now so I will be out for a while until things settle down. Thanks guys!

I think my boss probably said something to her because she emailed me this morning and it was way more polite than usual. There's an intern who they're putting in my old space. I very much pity that intern. But then again, if they find that the intern has the same issues with her that I did...well then.
So, its just the game of wait. I honestly would expect her to maintain a fake image of herself for a week or so, then back to her old habits. So lets hope the new intern is actually smart and reports everything and not just eat it up.

Blackberries are real. I have a bush full of them in the garden.

Sympathy like. I hope your kitty gets better. I know how hard that is. My cat Belle has been having issues as well. She has the cat form of IBS. We've had issues with her for several months. Finally seems that we've got the right balance for her, dry food in the morning, wet food mixed with canned pumpkin (yes really) at night. She seems to be doing better, but we're going to also put her on an anxiety supplement. Poor baby is a bit traumatized from not feeling well for so long.

I hope yours gets better. Kidney issues in an animal are tricky.

The second of my two new bathing suits came today. The one that came first that's similar to ones I had in the past actually has more, ahem, support than my other ones. So it id getting kept. The other one works, and the shape is different than what I usually wear, so it is getting kept.

I haven't changed since trying it on because it's kind of bothering my brother...:hilarious:

Lol, we had a computer when I was 10, and I had an MP3 player.

Now I have a smartphone, an iPod, an Android tablet, my Surface, my laptop, a PS3, a Wii, a Smart TV...I have no excuse for getting bored. Yet somehow...

Well, if you get bored with all the electronic toys, you could always try something radical: maybe have a conversation with a "live" person standing in front of you! ;) :joyfull: :cat:

Best of luck with your grandmother's surgery. Also, I wouldn't worry about the accident happening because of the dog. I'm sure the dog had absolutely nothing to do with her fall. Your grandmother probably enjoys the company of the dog.

Sending pixie dust to the both of you.

Feed the kitty tuna, ice cream, or anything else she wants at this point. Let's hope she gets a bit better by Friday, to give you more time to think through the next medical steps to take. I wish you all well.
