I saw that when I chose a video last night. Will not be home just about all day. Leaving for Hershey by 7 and won't be back until early evening. The rain has not shown up yet. I am hoping it gets broken up and the sun makes a surprise appearance. Haven't seen it in a while. :(
Sympathy like for all the rain. Mine hit over night:( Have fun in Hershey! and the practice is for Mother's Day weekend so hopefully you'll have time to do it tomorrow. My plan is to have enough time to do 2 practices today:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull:

Obviously, we haven' t seen it in person, yet, so we'll reserve final judgement for when that happens, but, from what we saw tonight, it was just basically a typical castle projection show combined with background fireworks.
So yes, definitely not an impressive replacement for Wishes, at least in OHO.
We expected much more. :cyclops:

I've been following ZapperZ's trip report (up in the TR section); and apparently, his sentiments are the same as yours. Just saw his comment about this, at the bottom of page 9, post 178, of his current TR. He had some interesting thoughts on the whole thing.

The new Magic Kingdom fireworks show is definitely geared to the younger generation in the audience, which I guess makes sense. Wishes was around a long time, and surprisingly enough there are people who don't have a fondness for Jiminy Cricket, the way I do. A lot of new movies have come out since Wishes made it's appearance.

Sorry, obviously still playing ketchup...
Oh my, the prom drama.
And, is the grand march similar to a wedding grand march...?!

The grand march is that the kids line up with their dates or groups of friends and their names are announced and they would out to a certain point and pause for a moment. The grand march time is open to parents/community so that is a good time for parents to get pictures of their kids with the prom decorations as a backdrop. The class sponsoring the prom charges for people to view the Grand March, so they have money in their class fund for their senior trip and future reunions.

Honestly, the only time that I remember "nap time" was in kindergarten when we lived in No Cal. We had mats in class that we "napped" on (I don't think I ever took one, I just layed down and was quiet). I don't ever remember a scheduled nap time at home...pretty sure mom and pop wanted us completely tuckered out at the end of the day so we slept like stones...!!! :hilarious:

I think my mom just wanted a mid-day break so she could watch her soap opera. :) But I don't remember pestering her much, I remember being pretty happy playing with my dolls and reading through books on my own. It must have been my sister she needed a break from! :joyfull:

We just watched it. It seemed to really drag along for a while. Like you say, maybe it person it is different, but I don't know.... DW said the same thing about the projection vs fireworks - not worth going out on the roof from CG to watch it. I wonder how it will impact the Contemporary upcharge party...

One of the first things hubby and I talked about was how the dessert party location and other places like the California Grill wouldn't be good spots to watch anymore. Which even though I liked the new show, will be a shame. It was nice to watch Wishes from the back of Fantasyland and other locations and not feel like I was missing out on anything by not seeing the front of the castle. Who knows, maybe in a few years they will bring Wishes back as a special return.

I'm not sure how I feel about the new show due to losing the back of the castle, Fronteirland and resort views. The hub even with the changes only holds so many people. :(

Hope y'all got to watch it by now (I just watched it again), and enjoyed...! :)
So many things that aren't there anymore...and, I'm not necessarily ;), talking about attractions/rides...a fully active Communicore, entertainment, double-decker busses, etc. :bored:

I wonder what Disney was thinking with the double decker busses in the WS as transportation. Indeed it gave your feet a nice break but kinda crazy. I wouldn't have wanted to be the CM that drove that bus. Same goes for transportation on Main Street. I love the horses, the trolley but again I wouldn't want to be navigating around guests, strollers and electric carts.

Me, I miss the fountains in all the parks. When they are need in of repair the chosen route is to fill them with dirt and plop plants in there. So many great ones lost. The worst repurposed fountain I've seen is outside Dinosaur in AK. Use to have low walls that you could rest or wait for family members to get off the attraction. That structure is beyond ugly now.

I didn't hear about this. What caused the fire? The fireworks?

I had originally seen it on Twitter. I haven't been on here to know if anyone else had more info but this is what I posted Thursday

I'll go look. The evacuated the castle including the restaurant put the fire pontoon boat in the moat water. Last I heard it was fall out from Wishes but initially thought to be a fire within the restaurant.

OK @MinnieM123 and @MySmallWorldof4 I saw this on my twitter feed early yesterday morning. I saw it from Chip & Co. but they were quoting the that site 'THAT MUST NOT BE NAMED' on this site. If you Google either of those sites you will find the story. I'm not going to try and link it for those reasons. But the short of it is the fire alarms went off in the castle but fire outside the castle, likely drought related, but fire near the wishing well of the castle and smoke bleeding into the castle setting off the alarms that the Reedy Creek Fire Department reacted to. The site that cannot be named seemed to be the source of the report and likely why you will not see it in News area here. Or so I am surmising. A Google will take you there though.
