Never had a problem with those wooden spoons. To me it was not much different than eating Popsicles off of wooden sticks...whatever it took to get to the delicious ice cream end goal...!!!!! :joyfull: :hungry: ;) :)
wooden spoons of good quality and well shaven are fine for me. But the texture of these ultra cheap disposable ones are the issue.
Believe it or not.. the texture of fine dust on paper or some types of unshaven wood can give me random shuddering attacks.

Add me to the list of those that never obtained a college (not even an associates) degree.
Also, besides Bill Gates, our local Michael Dell never got a college degree.
As the story goes, he started building custom PCs in his dorm room at the Universty of Texas. One summer (I believe it was after his sophomore year) he made over $70,000, and was able to convince his parents to let him drop out.
I'm, obviously, no Bill Gates, or Michael Dell, but, not everyone needs a 4-year degree to achieve success. I took 3 hours of vocational drafting in HS every morning during my junior and senior years. I was hired by a local firm 3 months before I graduated HS to ink brochures for a local builder client of theirs in the evenings after school, and the rest is history.
Yes, I have been layed off twice during that 37 year period, but, so have tons of people with 4+ year college degrees. All that being said, the way I did it back in the day, is pretty much impossible to achieve these days without, at bare minimum, an associates degree. And, even then, that would be no easy task.

But, here's the thing that is a bit interesting to me...
If every kid is supposed to go to college and get a 4+ year degree in finance, medicine, law, etc., where are all the auto mechanics, plumbers, and A/C, etc., people gonna' come from...? There are so many kiddos out there that neither need or want the MBA, etc.
Plus, can you imagine the over saturation if every kiddo became a lawyer, doctor, MBA, etc....the lawyers, doctors, and MBAs would be falling over each other for jobs, and the auto mechanics, plumbers, and A/C folks would be makin' even way more money than they are now...!!!!!!! :joyfull: ;)

But, on that note, what he's pursuing sounds like a good fit for your DS...!!! :)
Along with old school sketching and CAD, I do 3-D modeling quite often. It's pretty cool...!!!
I dont think jobs back then demanded 4 years of experience AND a bachelors for simple jobs.
Here its getting insane. They want a Bachelor for a STARTING POSITION and demand experience. (Its just a dirty trick to get desperate high level professionals to accept ridiculous low salaries. The bad part is a lot of jobs are doing this at same time.. kinda how Disney Pixar, Dreamworks and SONY studios colluded to prevent real competition in the animator market) Now to get a survivable salary they ask like a Masters.

The roofers are finishing up our roof today, and maybe tomorrow. They are putting up the gutters. We also needed a new back screen door badly, and when I asked the roofer if he could do that, he replied that he did. I will be glad when it's all done. I have still got to clean the back porch closest to the roof. Big piles of black dirt/debri everywhere. I am waiting for my grandson to go to work. Much easier to work/clean without people/others in the way. I don't mind the work. I most always would rather do these sorts of jobs alone. Time. I have a lot of that. No need to rush.

Ha Ha! My dh has the same issue with them. I have one that I love that has a straight edge on the bottom instead of rounded. I love it for sauteing. I probably use that one the most for cooking.:)

Yes, it has become ridiculous. In the "olden days", the animators were just talented artists who maybe took art classes. A lot of things were apprenticeships.

Hah I wish, but CEOs dont give a darn, some of the lower underlings are the ones who would have to hire me, and as long they see I have no "respectable business certifications and standardized exam results" I wont be touched even with a 50 feet pole.

And, this is exactly what I was talking about. All they care about these days is the degree, no matter what actual experience, or actual real world skills you may have.
Unfortunate, because there are so many folks out there who actually have what companies are looking for, but, just don't get considered because their parents, or themselves taking out student loans that they'll be paying off for years to come, didn't spend $150,000 getting a degree. :cyclops:

I completed my cleanup job. Now, I can spend tomorrow outside, if the weather is nice. I have so much yard work that needs doing, now that the roofers are gone. They did a pretty good job cleaning up, but the yard needs mowing, and weeding really bad. My grass has so many rocks. Raking is hard work, but I need to give it the old college try.
