Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
@Gabe1 , I was watching the early AM news today and saw some images of Illinois where the multiple tornadoes went through. Yikes.

It was nasty. It has been a bad weather week. Cold, very windy, weird light snow that melts quickly into ice. I got caught out in a micro mini ice pellet storm-wind so strong when then pellets hit ya it really hurt. Again about midnight suppose to get a snow ice storm.

We didn't get snow in January or February but the freak'n ice storms this winter I could do without. My 4x4 does nothing on ice.

I had an aunt that took pity on me. I could just see over the stove top so she got me a couple of knives and a few cookbooks and had me up at her house for about a week of cooking lessons.:joyfull:

I had a weird bond with Gran. When I was small I lived in Chicago in an old Irish neighborhood. Families stayed put back then but about the time I was born there was a drastic turn and the area I lived became more dangerous-ie. We lived in the house next to Grans where my Aunt lived with my never married Aunt and my Uncle lived in the flat above Grans house with his wife and my two boy cousins about my age. I think I was her one shot at delivering her skills to another generation 'cause my aunt had zero interest in cooking. Gran didn't like my sister as a baby let alone later so as an adult I'm thinking she taught me her skills, to sew and to cook and a bit of her frugal ways. She passed when I was in high school but I think she looks down thinking her efforts were a success. I hope.

Made it to Orlando, as we were landing we taxied right past Air Force one. Politics aside it is cool to see the presidents plane. And we got onto magical express with less than a five minute wait and left right away, we are currently on the road and I got a text our room is ready!!

I am thrilled that you're back at Disney!!! As for AF1, that must have been really "something" to see that plane. Not many people have. I would have loved to see that.

It looks more impressive on tv than in person. Not to mention seeing it means the local roads are going to be a royal mess.

Nah . . . I'm an airplane buff just like @donaldtoo . A sighting of AF1 would be very exciting!!

However, as for the traffic mess his arrival would bring--that's true. I hate it when roads, etc., are blocked off for heads of state. I understand the reasoning behind it, but it sure is a drag for the average person who gets stuck in traffic over it.

Guess I'm a bit jaded having seen it a few dozen times. An F-117 up close and personal is a sight to behold and my personal favorite classic T-34
