I'm probably one of the few people who have never seen it. I only heard about the name of the movie when I first joined the forums back in 2013. At one point, someone posted a link, and I saw the beginning of it; but I got distracted and didn't see the rest of it, at the time. So from what you're saying, it sounds like it's disappeared now.

Pretty much.
I've done multiple searches and can't find it anywhere that will actually play it anymore.
It always says something like "click on link below", but, there is no link.
It's actually completely amazing to me.
There are so many things in so many Disney movies over the years that can be considered offensive, but, for some silly reason (IMHO) this one is treated like their repulsively unwanted bast**d child.
It really is sad.

Pass. I'd rather spend $50 on something else. Nothing against the movie since I've never seen it, but I'm not exactly a big movie fan in general. There's tons of movies I've never seen.

The key is to get it and then have it transferred to a disk, or better yet, some sort of hard copy. VHS is a magnetic medium and will deteriorate over time, especially the more times it's played over the years passing over the tape machine play heads. One day you will put it in and POOF...GONE!!!
I have transferred many special VHS tapes I shot over the years to disk and then to hard copies.
I want those memories to live on...!!! :)

I have a copy of it as well, and even though they use the excuse that it was a very stereotypical depiction of Blacks after the Civil War, that is not why it disappeared in my opinion. What really made it the "bast**d child was the fact that it depicted rich, white people as self centered, bigoted, dysfunctional and just plain mean. The hero of the movie is one old Black gentleman that had more wisdom in his little finger then all of the rich folks, up on the hill, had combined. The use of the Brer Rabbit stories as told my Uncle Remus was the message in the story. It was how this old black man was able to reach a young, unhappy white child, whose parents were soon to split up and how to overcome sadness and anger so that it didn't turn into bitterness and hate. It taught lessons of hope, courage and even the consequences of actions that were not morally on the high ground.

It has been perfectly spun since then that it was an insult to African Americans when quite the opposite is the truth. It is very much a compliment to them for their wisdom and ability to know right from wrong in contrast to the self-righteous white folks and in spite of the way they had been treated in the land they never asked to come too.
