Hubs and I burst out laughing over this photo! (Last year, he told me he was at Walgreens buying me a last minute card  like all the other guys, crowding the card aisle, just like the photo above!! :p

Hahaaa...!
I let that happen once, and only once, many years ago.
I went into a bit of a panic when I came around the corner and saw the Valentines Day card display...!!!!!
It was pretty well picked clean, and most of the carp that was left was stuff like this...!!! :bored:  :hilarious:

Fortunately, I finally found something "suitable enough", but, that was the last time I ever let that happen...! ;) :)

Since it was going to be about 60's degrees today hubby and I decided to go to the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum to do a little hiking. Before we went outside though we stooped in the main building and checked out their orchid display in the conservatory. They were so pretty, and tropical. I thought I would share some pictures.

The main building always changes up the entry displays, this time there were some orchids and these sculptures hanging from the ceiling.

Then we walked around the empty gardens to enjoy the sunshine, the evergreens were very fragrant today. And then we walked out the marsh.

And their tons of chemicals

And interesting company with so many awesome tech advances coupled with some very ugly missteps of nasty. Certainly a company that has advanced food forward with their research and maybe have knocked off some with other stuff pulled that was widely distributed. Kinda like the Drug Companies, the good, the bad and the ugly.

I heard they got or were being bought out by Bayer-not sure if it happened or happened yet. 25,000 employees, something going right for them I guess.

We found a bunch of feathers on the side of the trail, no traces of the rest of the bird though.

Some old cat tails

Then we took a rest on a bench here for awhile.

We continued on the boardwalk. With the sun, 60 degree temps, little wind, and only traces of snow, it was a great February walk.

Us on the boardwalk.

Then we sat in this spot and enjoyed the view and the sunshine on our faces. (I think my face got a little sunburnt.)
IMG_5854.JPG

Then we headed out. It was a great time.

With all that walking around we had worked up a hunger, hubby made me choose. With all the delicious tex-mex food @donaldtoo has been sharing we went to Don Pablos for some Mexican.

We got margaritas. Hubs was a mango and I got the skinnytina. It was the same price as a regular so I thought I would try it. Tasted great to me, plus with the calories I saved I could eat more chips! Which by the way, I was aware of the calories because their menu listed the calorie count for every menu item. I understand why people might want that, but they should offer some menus with calories and some without the calories listed.

I got the very verde enchiladas. It was good but could have used a tinge more spice.

Hubby got a combo plate.

We made it home with some sunshine left in the day so we took the dog for a nice long walk, which she loved! I think with all this fresh air, we will sleep well tonight!

So, are you saying that veggies from California contain chemicals? Maybe that's why Figgy buys only organic veggies?

Yeah I bet some farms do have chemicals in CA. Think most farms are hard pressed to be 100% chemical free. I know one of the largest Corps that sells produce got busted for selling organic that was not. It is so hard to track all that. I have family that are wholesale meat brokers. Man this stuff like other food commodities are bought and sold so many times before it ever reaches where a consumer is going to buy it. I've been in cold storage lockers (buildings 1-2 square blocks) all they have to do is pull the wrong pallet and the tomato that you thought was from NC could actually be from California. Or the more unscrupulous running low on certified and throw in a few 1000# of tomatoes from another lot from elsewhere. There are few commodities that are free 100% of fraud on purpose or accident.

Me, I stayed away from the antibiotic type meats and dairies just cause I wanted to know more and them have a track history. Me, I never let my the sweetener Aspartame or knock offs of it. The research on that and the first FDA reject and the push through later made me uncomfortable. My gut on this one might have been correct-but there are all sorts of people that drink diet pops etc.

Greenhouses come in all sorts of forms and some of their produce are actually pretty darn fresh and tasty-others not so much. I look at all the engineering of food products at THE LAND greenhouse and the research done with companies, NASA and the USDA and I have no problems eating their foods created in there. Sooner or later something is going to get me.
