Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
1) Yep, and I don't care what any of the "You don't know what Walt would have done" crowd say, he definitely wouldn't have gone for any a' that loaded Guest survey carp. Walt would have wanted nothing but the truth, not some guiding the lambs to the slaughter Bravo Sierra to get the results you want. Just the truth, nothing less.

2) And yep, worst-case scenario would be them allowing me to pitch it to them, and then poopooing the idea, only to find it incorporated into one of their water slides 6 months later.
I would be stupid as hell to do that wis hout hiring a patent lawyer, producing some drawings, and sending them off to the patent office (although, I already have colored artwork of my idea, I don't have your typical fig. 1, fig. 2, fig. 3, etc., black and white typical patent office submission drawings). But, then again, I'm pretty positive (or, is that negative o_O ;)) they would probably say, they don't accept outside ideas either. Plus, I don't have the money to pursue it in the first place.
Also, it's just an idea for one section of a full water slide.
But, then again, if they would allow me to pitch it to them and boffed me out of it, at least my DWifey and kiddos would know the truth about where it came from...! ;)

But what you speak of is the kinda imagineering that seems to have taken a back seat to the good 'ole days. I remember it happening kind of abruptly less than a decade ago. The new Disney Parks mentality. Once a grand idea of someones followed then pitching thoughts back and forth. Now it in many instances is Grand idea, budget, budget cut, slice dice and here ya go.

I've been watching RoL with interest because it was nearly 10 years ago the first rumors surfaced. We've all heard what was cut and what is left from the concepts released a few years ago. It could be just lovely-I've yet to hear but a few say moving or awesome. I'm so curious to see Avatar-land. From what I've seen just like FLE the rockwork is beyond spectacular, they seem to have nailed the background aesthetics like they did in FLE, very picturesque. What I hope for Avatar is more out of the attractions and more than a restaurant as the crowning jewel of an expansion.

Me I guess I crave an attraction like Splash. Spectacular to look at and even better to experience the attraction. Miss that.

Hi everyone,

As some of you know I have been away for a week or so, down in our home planet of Orlando. I'm not going to do a trip report because I don't have that much to say and my camera in my phone decided to take this week to stop working. I will do bits and pieces over the next few day. I stopped in the World Golf Hall of Fame on the way to Orlando and spent one day at WDW and two days at Universal. I came home today.

I have a few observations that I will tell you about, however, while I was away I got an email from a company at the Raleigh Airport that wants me to drive bus about 3 evenings a week, so I am going to be busy getting all the paperwork, blood tests and physicals required to carry passengers about a quarter mile from the airport terminal to the car rental location and back. Pretty strenuous stuff. I am not even going to try and catch up completely, I did see that "Bets" is back, that made me happy, so if anyone can think of something really important that happened since the morning of the 13th, please feel free to let me know about it. Thanks! Otherwise I will just muddle through. These boards are a lot like soap operas anyway. You can be missing for a couple of years and only an hour has passed in the story line. ;)
Welcome back and congrats on the job offer:joyfull:

Wow! Your Boardwalk looks just like ours. We have both wooden and concrete walks but if you told me you were here I would not have known better. DD and I had fun today walking ours in the morning too but no sunburn for us. :( I did see a man out on the front end of his driveway actually sunbathing-all sprawled out of his chaise lounge chair. (might have giggled a bit :joyfull:) It was 70.

Your food looks awesome. I enjoyed my Margarita last night so much I ordered a second. :hungry: Our food was great too. Uncle Julio's has opened up in Woodfield and that is where we decided we should go...expensive though. Disney prices. :jawdrop:

PUBLIC SERVICE: ;)

FYI-your calorie etc. comment, no they can't have some menu's without all the dietary information listed. It is Federal Law now.
It was to go into effect in 2014, then 2015 and the last extension was December 31, 2016 which when expired went into enforcement on Jan 1 2017. I'm surprised you haven't noticed it every freak'n place now. A muffin at Panera, drive through at McD's, all chain restaurants, take out food menu's etc. Most chains were ready and displaying already in 2015, I know Disney had theirs up and running already for a long time. But that is the minimum we readily see at a glance, like fat, calories, salt, cholesterol. The establishments are required to have very detailed information available for patrons now too made available immediately upon request. This also helps patrons with allergies. I know at QS places in Disney they will hand you a freak'n notebook if you ask for it.
I'm pretty sure the notebooks have been around for quite some time and I love being able to see them with us having some unusual allergies they are quite helpful and then some. :joyfull:

We found a bunch of feathers on the side of the trail, no traces of the rest of the bird though.

Some old cat tails

Then we took a rest on a bench here for awhile.
View attachment 190520

We continued on the boardwalk. With the sun, 60 degree temps, little wind, and only traces of snow, it was a great February walk.

Us on the boardwalk.

Then we sat in this spot and enjoyed the view and the sunshine on our faces. (I think my face got a little sunburnt.)

Then we headed out. It was a great time.

With all that walking around we had worked up a hunger, hubby made me choose. With all the delicious tex-mex food @donaldtoo has been sharing we went to Don Pablos for some Mexican.

We got margaritas. Hubs was a mango and I got the skinnytina. It was the same price as a regular so I thought I would try it. Tasted great to me, plus with the calories I saved I could eat more chips! Which by the way, I was aware of the calories because their menu listed the calorie count for every menu item. I understand why people might want that, but they should offer some menus with calories and some without the calories listed.

I got the very verde enchiladas. It was good but could have used a tinge more spice.
View attachment 190518

Hubby got a combo plate.

We made it home with some sunshine left in the day so we took the dog for a nice long walk, which she loved! I think with all this fresh air, we will sleep well tonight!

This all looks like so much fun! Hey, next time invite me along, will yah??!! :D

Good Morning everyone! I will just do a quick post here and then probably be away until later this evening. Many things to do. Laundry from last week, Grocery shopping to fill a very empty refrigerator, one daughter in the middle of a serious marital problem, a grandson that wants me to attend his basketball game, a large amount of online forms that I must fill out for my background check for the new part-time bus job and on and on!

I only spent one day at WDW. I had my last day on my last non-expiring 10 day ticket that I first used in April 2012 to use up, so I had to figure out what I wanted to see. As you recall, I wasn't even sure if I would even go to the parks this trip. I decided at about 5pm the day before that I would go. I would start at and park my car at Epcot, spend time there and then monorail to MK and spend the rest of the day there until I monorailed back to Epcot to get my car. I went on line and manage to get three Fastpasses that fit my time there. This is how it went (not exact times just sequence, but, I did arrive just after opening.

Spaceship Earth
Soarin (FP)
Living With The Land
Imagination w/Figment
The Seas (in all my trips this was the first time I actually saw a diver in the tube)
Spaceship Earth (again w/FP)
Mission: Space (FP)
At this point I went back to my phone and made a FP for the Mine Train in MK for mid-afternoon
Ellen's World of Energy
Had lunch at the Electric Umbrella
Monorail To MK...

I hit all the Future World places that I had any interest in, skipping Test Track because frankly I have never been that impressed with it (original or new). I noticed only three things that weren't working, two of which are pretty common. The big wheel in the printing section of SSE was not turning (not the first time by a long shot) The big gravity wheel in Mission Space (hasn't been turning for quite a while now) and a first, the TV in the family room where the family is watching the moon landing (or in this case all four were intently staring at a black screen, I figured they hadn't paid their cable bill) Other then that everything worked flawlessly as far as my memory goes. I didn't attempt world showcase this trip. The only new thing was Frozen and I can wait for another trip to see that.

As soon as I can, I will cover the rest of the day at MK. One interesting thing happen there which I will tell you about in the next chapter. Stay tuned! Boring, but, written by a famous author... me! BTW, I have gone on record stating how much I hate the concept of FP, but, I will say this... the current one is far easier to use and allows you to actually figure out what things to do and when to do them. If we have to have it.. it is far better then the original system.
As much as I loved Soarin (the original), I like the new one even more. It just seems more involved and fun. The distortion was minor and not even worth thinking about. It takes up around 4 seconds of the entire ride and doesn't ruin a thing.

Good morning it's in the mid 40s going up to about 60 again today:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull: Not exactly my type of weather but at least the groundhog population is safe for another day:hilarious: I have a few errands to run and then it's going to be time to dust off the grill and make dinner outside:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull:

We (hubby) grilled out on Friday for dinner. The dog and I went for a walk and when we were nearing home I could smell the grill, it was great.

Sounds like you had a good half day at Epcot. One thing I really like about the new fast pass system is that I don't have to criss cross the park to get paper fast passes. Also, I am a planner and have no problem planning my fast passes days in advance.

There are certain advantages to being a morning person:joyfull: I hit all the stores I needed to before the crowds gathered:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull: It was nice seeing all the lovely spring items and I found the cutest pair of pink shorts at Sam's but as usual they didn't carry my size:grumpy::grumpy::grumpy: It's a good thing I have pink fabric in my stash for just such an occasion:) Just not today it's way too nice to spend the day inside:inlove:

Us too. We are talking of a trip to the Smithsonian's too. There are a few I'd love to see, some, well a few not so much. My DD also s a thing for Libraries. Started with the Big One in Cleveland and can't get enough of those mouth dropping ones. DS well if there is any Sports Hall of fames around...that kinda started to come together when Grandma was inducted into Cooperstown for being in 'a league of their own.' Funny what grabs kids when they are young.

Yep, we started our kiddos at a vey early age on museums, exhibits, historical sites, etc.
Everything from the Dell Children's Museum to the Texas Memorial Museum (essentially a natural history museum), the state Capitol, the Alamo, the National Museum of the Pacific War, etc.
My folks were that way with us, and so were DWifeys folks. We passed it along to our kiddos and, fortunately, it stuck. ;)
They all love that kinda' stuff...! :)

I'm am naively holding out hope that it will be restored. Some 'ole rumor that the feeding water pipe came from the Streets of America area under construction and will have to be repiped. Could be. There is hope. Or they could just leave it to be a planter.

Interesting. I hadn't heard that rumor.
A glimmer of hope...maybe...?
Although, I haven't ever heard of them turning a water feature into a planter and then back again...
But, this one was so cool and fun, I guess I'll hold on to the glimmer...for now, anyhow. :cyclops:
