Ahhh. That garlic, onion, chocolate thing. Usually the only critters it harms is the tiny tots. The best of the best dog food has garlic in it. Vets use garlic to control blood sugar in dogs and blood pressure along with cholesterol. Takes a lot of very dark chocolate to harm most dogs. Jethro Bodine my boy golden ate 4 pounds of Dove milk chocolate easter eggs, foil and all that he stole from high up on my piano.

He was fine after he puked chocolate all over my husband during the middle of the night. :joyfull::cyclops:;) And I got new bedding. Win.

That's interesting about the garlic. I suppose if it's administered under a vet's care, I'd allow it. On my own, I'd rather be safe than sorry. I'm lucky in that Jack has an iron constitution. Sometimes, I think he's more of a goat than a dog, though--he'll eat anything!

We also dodged a bullet with my previous dog. I recall one Christmas when we had a bowl of Hershey's kisses out for company. We were all talking and not paying attention, and the dog absconded with about 1/2 pound of them--we found all the little spit out pieces of the silver foil on the floor. :cautious: We were fortunate that she did not have any reaction. (Vets always see more dogs admitted to the vet ER from eating chocolate during the holidays--and also Valentine's Day.) Dogs and cats are like people, in the sense that certain foods affect each one differently, but the vets go with the statistically higher incidents of toxic foods--to warn pet owners about.

Walter really loved to shred those thin plastic bags from the grocery store/Target. Actually any kind of plastic but those bags were the easiest to snatch. His next favorite shredding detail was cardboard boxes

It's all fair game to them--no matter what it is, if it's there, it's theirs!! :p :cat:

A bit of a different Half-day Friday today.
One of DWifey's uncles passed away in a nursing home on Wednesday. He was such an awesome guy, but, didn't take care of his type 2 diabetes too well, and ended up having to have both of his legs amputated. Shortly after that, they discovered he had breast cancer. I read a story years ago that only about 300 men are diagnosed with breast cancer in the US every year.
DWifey had to take the day off to go to Houston to bring her mother back up this way for the funeral.
In the meantime, I went and picked up DS from work, got some bloodwork done (non-fasting, routine), got a haircut, and some other errands done. Life goes on.
Funeral tomorrow at 10a in their town about an hour away.
We'll miss you uncle Carl...
