I love my cake and thank you!
Oh, my favorite new toy (from Lowes) that I requested for my birthday was a roof shovel--it extends 17 feet. You throw it up there, and then pull down snow--I had so much fun with that yesterday!
Then hubs brought out a ladder and he got up on that, to reach the rest of it up there (this is a lower, almost flat room, over a room that was an extension that the landlord built to the townhouse). I knew that with the 16 inches of snow we currently have from the past 2 days, and another expected foot or more of snow tonight, some of that weight would need to come off.
He wouldn't let me up on the ladder--he was convinced I'd fall off.Meanwhile, Jack was supervising the whole thing and kept barking at him to come down off that ladder!

@donaldtoo , I liked your museum photos--very interesting. What I found particularly intriguing was the AT6. My jaw dropped when I read that due to the metal shortage, a bunch of those planes were made out of wood?!That's so cool and shocking at the same time!! Cool fact to learn!!
Cool fact indeed.
Due to my interest in WWII, starting at a young age, I knew about that.
I also know about another popular plane from WWII, the British de Havilland Mosquito, that was constructed almost entirely of wood. Almost 8,000 were built.

Hi All -
Sorry, I've been off the grid a bit lately, but I have been busy turning old.
LOL. That's right, over the weekend, I did the unthinkable. I turned the big 50. On Sunday to be exact. And of course, I was as dignified as you all know me to be when turning the big number - if only there was a hotel room that I could have gotten locked out of in a certain state:
15 Minutes until 50:
Yep, I look absolutely demented...because I am! Plus slightly bombed. But can you blame me? I'm about to turn AARP!
And then, as the hour ticks closer, ten minutes until 50:
Hey look, I am starting to implode. In case it's not clear, I'm holding up a clock as well as the cheap champagne I will be downing as soon as the clock strikes.....50! It almost looks like I am aging by the second. By the time 50 comes in a few minutes, I will look like this:
Or at least this:
Oh wait. Same thing. Annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnyyyyway. I digress. Forgive me for getting distracted. I'm senile now, or didn't you know?
And then finally .........50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Wait, what happened to my eyes?!?!?!?!??!?!?!
Well, that's it folks. Stick a fork in me. I am now available to date Dorothy, Rose, or Blanche.
Hopefully Old Man Thomas will be posting a bit more often this year....if only he can see his computer screen.
In the meantime, I hope you all have had a great Valentine's Day.

Think I've probably mentioned this in the past, but briefly--I was DHS and came out of a gift shop. A CM with a tablet asked me about the gift shop and did I buy anything, etc. He kept staring down at the tablet while asking questions--rarely making eye contact at all. Anyway, I told him I couldn't find what I wanted--postcards, and I didn't buy anything in the shop. The next question was whether I asked a CM where I could find them. I said, no. He said, thank you, and walked away (with his tablet . . .). Um, if he had given me a chance to actually converse with him, I would have told him that the shop was grossly understaffed for the number of guests in there. Apparently, whomever created the tablet prompts, never thought to program in a "why" question.
I was thinking that it would be interesting to pitch your idea to them--if for no other reason--to see what kind of response you'd get. Would it be the same type of response, or might it be better (or worse)?
