Ha! Even though that's a stock shot of someone else, I could relate to it--a smile on her face when shoveling snow! Bliss!!
We ended up with a foot of snow where I live (it varied from 8-18 across the state).
And, the city of Boston had 800 plows out yesterday. It was hard for them to keep up with anything in the blizzard; because for a few hours here and there throughout the day, snow was coming down at the rate of 2-3 inches an hour! (The colder temperatures were keeping it the lighter, fluffier snow, and the wind was creating some deep drifts in areas.)
And, aside of the public works guys out there in full, all the private contractors (any guy with a shovel on the front of his pickup) were pulling in the big bucks yesterday, too. (For example, depending upon the size of a driveway to plow, they're getting anywhere from $35 to $100. So you can imagine what they get for parking lots, etc., although most businesses have contracts for the season which lower the price--but still, they're paying a lot of money.)
Any Dunkin Donuts shop I passed by had multiple plows "live" parked there, with the guys running in for more coffee to chug down, during the snow marathon yesterday!
