I'm going to miss this...I know it isn't politically correct but I will genuinely miss these times. In the way back time machine dogs and cats were not domesticated. Same goes for all sorts of creatures. Sometimes captivity doesn't bring abuse and torture but a bond with humans and animals. I grew up with Ringling in my life along with the much smaller but lovely Kelly Circus. My kids grew up with it all plus the bonus of Disney AK. Likely my someday grandchildren will never know of the mighty creatures kept in a circus, a zoo or an aquarium. They might only know the creatures in some form text copy of some variety.

Near my Mom's home when the circus came to town they'd off load and have a free parade. I enjoyed, my kids enjoyed. The mighty creatures did not act or appear tortured but had a role in life much like service creatures do.

Sadly my someday grandkids will not likely get to know the creatures I had such a fondness for.

So majestic.
Story time: I hate the circus. When I was little I remember overhearing my Father talk about the big Circus Tent Fire in (I think) Hartford, Connecticut. He was in the Army at the time (in the early 40's) and his outfit was given the job of "cleanup" of the site. He told of finding burnt bodies in the rubble and having to bring them out. How awful it was, etc. I'm not sure exactly what image that left in my young mind, but, one of my Aunts decided that she would like to bring me to a circus. I was never so afraid of anything in my life, before or since. All I wanted to do was get out and the sooner the better. I never took my own kids to a circus until one time when there was one at the old Forum (I think that was what it was called back then, you know the original "put de puck in de net" place) in Montreal, had one and I was able to relax enough to see it thinking, I'm sure that it was a lot less likely for that building to go up in smoke then a tent. Was still nervous but able to get through it with no panic attack. Except for the first one that is the only one that I have ever seen. I can't even watch it on TV.

It was never one of my favorites but I have some mixed feeling about it going. Like I said I thought it was boring, I'd have rather have gone to see Disney on ice but I loved their commercials on tv. Because it meant spring was well on it's way:joyfull:

I went to the Ice Capades a few times. I counted down the minutes until it was over. Only thing I endured worse was watching the Rockettes Christmas show. My MIL wanted to go and take my DD. DD finally relented and went with her and she was miserable. (then MIL told her...wasn't that a nice Birthday present? Yep, MIL wanted to go and it was then the kids birthday gift) Now Cirque du Soleil is fun.

The year we went to see the whole Radio City thing the only saving grace was the Disney movie we got to see afterwards. Disney on Ice was fun, Ice Capades not so much. The Harlem Globe Trotters were fun and at the time all I knew about basketball was the ball went into the net. Somebody in my family had ticket connections at Madison square Garden so we went a few times a year for one thing or another.

Funny ha, ha. This morning it was one to 3, we already have 3 and it's coming down hard now and expected to last until dinner. I hope it slows up. At least it isn't ice again. FLORIDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heck I'll take Goinsey at this point:eek:

Heck it is 66 in Disney, right now 66 would feel so nice.

We were to have snow overnight and until early afternoon. Got rain and ice. Joy. Saw the radar should hit @MinnieM123 by the time she is off work.

Never felt the Love for Basketball but I saw the Globetrotters once, it was fun.

Morning everybody, just like the last time I was in the hospital. I won,t be able to return home today. I started eating a bit more today but I had a sword case of the hiccups all night and morning. I puked a bit but it wasn't as bad. Thankfully I'm starting to eat non liquid foods such as one bite of chicken tenders.

I loved both the Ice Capades and Ice Follies. Always been a big figure skating fan, so those shows were right up my alley!! Years later, my tastes turned more to the Tour of Champions skating shows--just great skating without all the stage sets, etc.
