Ugh, isn't winter fun.:rolleyes: (No, @MinnieM123, you don't get to vote on this...) Hubby just came home a little bit ago and said that it is really freezing rain. He said our sidewalk is pure ice and even the highway was a little iffy. Yuck!

My DD and I had hoped to drive up to Wisconsin and do some outlet shopping. Didn't happen. Me, too chicken.

Ah. My Dad wouldn't have bought a Sony back then being a veteran and a union man, just how some felt back then. For us it was either RCA Victor's or Zenith. I searched but can't seem to find a photo online of our first color TV, believe an RCA.
With both those things applying to our family (veteran and union) the only thing that would have kept us from having a Sony was the price. Sony was the unquestioned leader in electronics and they were also the most expensive, contrary to common beliefs. I think ours was an RCA, but I do not remember any color TV in our house until the late 60's. The ones I saw were at a neighbors house. The first show I remember watching in color was either "Get Smart" or "Lost in Space".

Obviously, your Tooth Fairy and mine were cheapskates! And what's more frustrating is that when you're an adult and you have a tooth pulled out (failed root canal, etc.), you don't even get a quarter anymore!! :bawling: Instead, you get a bill from the oral surgeon for $80!!

Hahaaa...!!! :hilarious:
I wonder what percentage of that goes to the Tooth Fairy to help fund her kiddie lost tooth program...?! o_O ;)

I've never been to either destination...definitely bucket list stuff, though. Egypt is definitely more fascinating to me than creepy.
So glad you had such a great time in Hawaii!
And, I keep forgetting, you're quite a few years younger than I, and only ever saw those Brady Bunch episodes in reruns...! :)

That surprises me, it was running while we were in elementary school. Interesting that somehow you missed the series, though I do remember my Mom liking the Rockford Files and sometimes the Momma wins.

Nope, I was saying that @ajrwdwgirl was too young to have seen/remembered the first run episodes, not me!!! :hilarious:
We watched every single episode of that silly show, even though we used to joke about all the whining going on so much of the time...! ;) :)

And, we watched The Rockfird Files, too. I don't remember them being on the same day and time, though, I could of course be wrong.
Maybe that's about the time we started to get tired of Brady whining...! ;)

Yep they were all on reruns, but I did watch it on a tv that was hooked up to an antenna! We had 6 stations on a good day, three of them were PBS. Sometimes we would get an additional NBC station bringing the total to 7!

My house still has her antenna on top of the chimney. Who the heck wants to climb up there and take it down.

We had CBS, NBC, ABC and local WGN TV along with PBS and whatever WFLD/WLS TV was, that one ran on some other frequency and was sometimes fuzzy. Once the Hancock and Sears Tower were complete reception was more reliable.

Woof! $20...!!!
The most I ever remember getting was a quarter.
And, I'm pretty sure the most we ever gave any of our kiddos was $1... :cyclops:

My kids for their first tooth loss received a Silver Dollar from the late 1800's, believe both were the birth year of my Gran. Gran had saved the high silver content silver dollars she came across when she moved to the states in Mason Jars. Kinda hard for me to wrap my brain around keeping silver dollars back then, wages being $1-3 a day and then in the 30's Ford paying $5 a 12/hr day. So keeping Silver Dollars you wonder how. So I kept them. If she could, I could.

When in Vermont... we had an outside antenna with a rotator function that worked from the inside. We could move the Antenna 360 degrees. We had CBS which was a local station. NBC which was from across Lake Champlain in Plattsburgh, New York, ABC (I think) from Channel 8 in Poland Springs, Maine (if atmospheric conditions were just right) and a couple of channels from Montreal. One was in English and one in French. Channel 2 (French)... showed dirty movies late at night.
