perhaps you should try to eat in hours that are normal for the majority of people that visit the park? (aka 3:00 pm?)
So the chefs will not be forced to speed things up and thus ruin the food.

That's a good idea. I usually try to eat meals at off-hours--usually early. (And I'm also referring to the QS places--even those are far more relaxed when the hordes of crowds aren't there. I'm sure the TS places at off hours are more relaxed and pleasant. Food is probably better. too, when the chefs have a moment to breathe in the kitchen.)

Thanks for sharing your visit to the Marin Luther exhibit. I found the pictures and your comments fascinating. I'm not Lutheran and actually, come to think of it, I don't know anyone who is. That's odd--never thought about that before. I know we have Lutheran churches out here in my state. Anyway, the one fact that surprised me was that the paintings did not show any halos over Jesus. Don't think I've ever seen a picture of him without one. Maybe it's part of that "Reformation" movement he was in.

Hubby and I had an interesting night out last night. He is feeling better (he ended up with a slight case of pneumonia)so he wanted to get out and go to an exhibit we have been meaning to go to for a couple months at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. It was an exhibit about Martin Luther and the art of the Reformation. Since some of you might remember hubs is a Lutheran pastor so he really wanted to go. I like art and history so I was in. We really only had time yesterday for the special exhibit but there is a lot of great art at the institute.

The exhibit was really well done and some objects on display have never been on exhibit before outside of Germany. The audio guide was well done too. I did have to laugh when the audio guide was talking about Luther's wife and how important the pastors wife is to the church because of all the work they do with the church. I laughed because I don't involve myself much at all! Anyway.....here are some pictures I thought you would find interesting about our evening.

We had dinner at a pizza place called Black Sheep pizza (a small chain, 3 restaurants in the Twin Cities). The pizza is cooked in coal fired ovens. I thought @donaldtoo might like my beer. It was a local brew and called Mexican honey, it was smooth and had an interesting sweet taste to it.

We got our favorite meatball, ricotta, and garlic pizza. We also decided to be bold and try the Persian beef with feta, tomatoes, and harissa. Both were great the Persian was spicy and had a bit too much chopped parsley for my tastes, so if we get it again I would say light on the parsley.

Then we walked about three blocks back to the museum in about 5 degree temps. So here's some of the display..

A piece of pre-reformation art work.

Here is the pulpit that Luther gave his last sermon in. Hubs really wanted to get in it or at least touch it but he abided by the rules of no touching.

A big panel of artwork that was made to teaching the ideals of Luther/reformation. It was interesting to note difference in pre-reformation artwork and reformation artwork. One thing was the lack of halos around Jesus and other saints in the reformation art.

And the text was in German not Latin.

After the Luther display, I walked around one of the other rooms in the institute for a few minutes while waiting for hubs. I will be teaching my 7th grade social studies class about Egypt the next couple of days so I took these pictures to share with them.

It was a fun excursion for the night. I think even if people aren't religious it is still worth a go for the history and art of the time period. I didn't take pictures but one part I liked the best was the household display they had with objects from his childhood home and the description of life in that time period. But maybe I'm just a nerd. :bookworm:
First glad your dh is doing better!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It sounds like you bother had a great time and I'd love to see the exhibit. That being said nothing could drag me up near that neck of the woods this time of year because I had to go there once during a blizzard to help manage a family emergency. It seemed like a lovely area but WAY TOO COLD for me.

No
I have officially given up on Disney WiFi. I pay for a data plan; I might as well use it unless I'm watching Netflix in the room or downloading an app. I only used 3 GBs last month, which included the entirety of my DL trip and the drive down to San Diego with the GPS, and I had over 7 thanks to rollover data. So...no longer fighting with Disney's WiFi.

In other news, they rennovated the rooms at BWV and they are SO much nicer. They don't even look like the same rooms anymore. Extra pull down bed so studios now sleep five, much more comfortable furniture, pretty blue-green color scheme...much better. Remind me a lot of BCV's rooms. They also added additional outlets and USB ports for charging. Much better.

No ice allowed just a straight up snow day! I've noticed our district does seem to close faster for weather on days that some places call holidays that we don't. We were supposed to have school on MLK day and it had to be used for a make up day and we only got a dusting and we closed same thing also happened on President's day one year.

I could do without the ice too, but that might be the only way we either get a snow day or get out early. Our current admins are pretty hesitant to call off school or get out early, which the adult part of me understands but the kid in me doesn't want to go to school.

By the way, I love that you called the weather lady a psychic! Hilarious!:joyfull:

The pizza was awesome, the leftovers were good for lunch today too. I hadn't worn that sweatshirt in quite awhile, it kind of got lost in my closet. I'm glad you enjoyed my pictures.

The exhibit was super interesting, it does end tomorrow. But I don't know know where it is going to next. I can understand your reluctance to come during the winter. But late spring and summer is really pretty. (It lures me into complacency, until winter smacks me in the face.)

I lile the Egyptian pictures. :)

Thanks. I am actually really creeped out with ancient Egyptian stuff, I can't watch any shows about ancient Egypt before bed and if we are in a museum I can not look at the mummies. When I realized that I would have to teach about ancient Egypt to my Social Studies section it gave me a scare. I don't know why, I think it has to do with the episodes of the Love Boat when they were in Egypt and creepy stuff happened. I would love to go to Egypt and see the pyramids but there is just this irrational fear. (I know I'm a weirdo.)

Thanks. there seems to be one injury a year in the family and fingers crossed this was it this year (last year Mrs F's toe :in pain: , year before that Mother broke her arm :in pain: ( another falling over stunt)). She has been wanting the surgery for a while and this has pushed it forward. Thankfully it's covered under her in-sewer-ants .

These guys cover that...?!?!?! o_O

More then once that has been considered. :cold: However, in the end I like the slightly more moderate climate. Golf is my main pass time. I don't go golfing if it is below 45 degrees or above 80 so most of the year I am able to get out (at least mornings). I don't mind heat, but, I usually don't stay out in it for very long. If AC hadn't been invented I would probably have stayed up north. :)

I was looking at a history book of this area in the late 1800's to early 1900's. No AC and the clothing that people wore, especially women (but not exclusively) back then... I'm not sure how they survived. It does get some kind of hot and humid in these here parts. All I can think of is how miserable they must have felt back then and deodorant hadn't been invented yet either. Man, oh, man! :in pain::depressed:

The best place I've ever lived overall climate-wise (except for the smog) was No Cal back in the day.
The winters were very mild for the most part. The mountains on either side of us in the Santa Clara Valley had snow on their peaks a few various times during the "winter" months, but, the only time I remember it actually snowing (about 1/2") in San Jose while we lived there was one day in the winter of '76, just before we moved back to Texas that summer. At the time, it was the first trace of snow San Jose had had in 13 years.
We had central heat, but, no central air because Summer's were fairly mild, as well.
Even on some summer nights, if you were outside, it would cool off enough to where you might need to put on a sweatshirt or light sweater. And, I remember there never being any humidididididity ;) to speak of.
The last time I was in Cali. (So Cal) was when DS and and I flew out to LA to meet DWifey and Youngest DD on the DLR day of a HS choir trip in early June of '10. We commandoed that place, and I don't remember ever breaking a bead of sweat. In WDW, we would have been
soaking in it.

Sympathy like.

And yep, it'll appear eventually, but, does the Tooth Fairy have a special contingency for that...?!?!?! o_O

:D  ;)
I tell you, if when I was a kid the tooth fairy paid what she does now, I would have pulled them all out on my own. I know a friend of my daughters that has a tooth fairy that give out $20.00 a tooth. That's carrying the fantasy a little to far in my mind.

So I bumped into one of my oldest BFF today been months since I've talked to her so we are catching up with our families and life. Her DD's are so interesting, the same ages as my kids. Nicest family ever. Those of you that have been around here awhile have heard me speak of her DD that was an Olympian Rower in the Olympics in England, one of girls is a master baker and the 3rd young lady is a free spirit that has an interesting 7-8 years not using her Bio Degree yet but instead traveling the world and the country and always finding some interesting jobs to take on....

So here we go, she is now building ice castles. Big Beautiful Ice Castles. My friend is showing me photos and I am in awe.
Been there @ajrwdwgirl ???? It is in Stillwater MN.
