What did you think? I liked the action, but not what happened to the rebels (trying not to be a spoiler). We found out about Carrie Fisher on the way home from the theater, so I think the ending might have hit us differently if we knew that going in...

Totally different than past Star Wars film because of no jedi but really good. Though I thought they jumped around too much in the beginning.

I thought Tarkin's scenes to be creepy considering he has been dead for 20 years and he had more of a role than just putting a young Lea in the movie. My favorite character was Diego Luna and Felicity Jones. Kinda of wished the rebels reached them in the end but when going back to a New Hope, you understand way everyone has to die. The movie could have easily ending at the planet blowing up.

No one should listen to the idiot's predicting the weather, our's are almost always wrong. No snow for us today, it's snowing right now.

I agree, the weather people are like fortune tellers. A couple years ago hubby and I wanted to go on a picnic because we had a free Saturday. For days they kept saying no rain, so we went on our picnic and about an hour after we got to the park there was pouring rain. We ate our lunch in the car and then drove home. :( For a long time I wouldn't watch the weather on that one channel that had told me no rain.

We went to Jungle Cruise Skipper Canteen for dinner tonight. We'd been in August, and I had the noodle bowl, which I thought was good. I got it again tonight. They must've changed it, because it was BAD. I mean, it was horrible. O ended up sending it back because it was turning my stomach. I told the waiter that the spices were just wrong for the dish. They ended up taking it off the bill, and I came back and got a burger from the Mara. I've never sent a meal back for being just plain bad, and I felt pretty horrible doing it, but it was just not good.

It's quite a shame because they've built this huge restaurant that has some of the better theming, not to mention a wonderful staff, but the food was just not good. They have three dining rooms, and it was mostly empty. But I will say their bread is some of the best around.

But for now, I would say that basically any other place is a better choice. They really need to rework their menu.

This makes me nervous now, as we had a great meal there this past summer and we are really looking forward to it again in June. I guess they will have enough time to up their game again. Maybe it was just an off day for them when you went (hoping that is the case). Sorry you had a bad meal though.

Just do not order the noodles or the pasta.

I do believe that they are getting ready to change it as they had no allergy-friendly menus. Hopefully they will have changed it.

Oh, poor poober, :( sorry you don't have off Monday. I work in a hospital and we (office staff personnel, some medical staff, too) have it off--this hospital is also private sector--not a state run one, for example.

The only thing that ticks me off about where I work is that they don't give us Veterans Day, which I think is wrong. Guess they had to limit the number of holidays they give out, but I just thought that the omission of Veterans Day was disrespectful to all; and I would have preferred that they "traded" off a different one for that--even Columbus Day, as one example.

I don't get Monday off either. However, it is supposed to be rain/ice Monday through Tuesday, so here's hoping for a snow day!

I was actually thinking of trying the chicken this time, as it looked good in some pictures I've seen recently. I had thought about the duck noodle bowl.

When we went last time I got the steak and it was yummy but they changed it up recently. Hubs had gotten the pork and that was good too, we were actually supposed to share our dishes but I only got one bite of his (and I liked it), but once he tasted his he decided he didn't want to share more than a bite.

Hubby and I had an interesting night out last night. He is feeling better (he ended up with a slight case of pneumonia)so he wanted to get out and go to an exhibit we have been meaning to go to for a couple months at the Minneapolis Institute of Art. It was an exhibit about Martin Luther and the art of the Reformation. Since some of you might remember hubs is a Lutheran pastor so he really wanted to go. I like art and history so I was in. We really only had time yesterday for the special exhibit but there is a lot of great art at the institute.

The exhibit was really well done and some objects on display have never been on exhibit before outside of Germany. The audio guide was well done too. I did have to laugh when the audio guide was talking about Luther's wife and how important the pastors wife is to the church because of all the work they do with the church. I laughed because I don't involve myself much at all! Anyway.....here are some pictures I thought you would find interesting about our evening.

We had dinner at a pizza place called Black Sheep pizza (a small chain, 3 restaurants in the Twin Cities). The pizza is cooked in coal fired ovens. I thought @donaldtoo might like my beer. It was a local brew and called Mexican honey, it was smooth and had an interesting sweet taste to it.

We got our favorite meatball, ricotta, and garlic pizza. We also decided to be bold and try the Persian beef with feta, tomatoes, and harissa. Both were great the Persian was spicy and had a bit too much chopped parsley for my tastes, so if we get it again I would say light on the parsley.

And me enjoying pizza

Then we walked about three blocks back to the museum in about 5 degree temps. So here's some of the display..

A piece of pre-reformation art work.
IMG_3391.JPG

Here is the pulpit that Luther gave his last sermon in. Hubs really wanted to get in it or at least touch it but he abided by the rules of no touching.
IMG_3392.JPG

A big panel of artwork that was made to teaching the ideals of Luther/reformation. It was interesting to note difference in pre-reformation artwork and reformation artwork. One thing was the lack of halos around Jesus and other saints in the reformation art.
IMG_3395.JPG

And the text was in German not Latin.
IMG_3396.JPG

After the Luther display, I walked around one of the other rooms in the institute for a few minutes while waiting for hubs. I will be teaching my 7th grade social studies class about Egypt the next couple of days so I took these pictures to share with them.

It was a fun excursion for the night. I think even if people aren't religious it is still worth a go for the history and art of the time period. I didn't take pictures but one part I liked the best was the household display they had with objects from his childhood home and the description of life in that time period. But maybe I'm just a nerd. :bookworm:

No worries. Not that important, I thought it was recent. :D

as promised...

The theme was mentioned a lot thanks to Shangai budget overruns..
I think you can see a few posts about the deteriorating food quality and usage of cheaper ingredients (and less food per platter) for higher prices.

And heres the source as per WDW1974 (spirited)

(and theres was quite an outrage in the first days)

Not sure if most of these changes actually were reverted thanks to the opening of Shangai. But as far as some people report..platters are even smaller but quality remains similar.

Yah, it's a control thing. Dogs love to sit on you, lean on you, and get in your face. That's just how the critters are, and I'm used to it. But I draw the line when Jack farts -- even the whole neighborhood leaves town . . .
I dont know why reading your post.. reminded me of that video of a dog sleeping.. farting so hard that he himself was scared and had to leave running. (the owner taking video too)

perhaps you should try to eat in hours that are normal for the majority of people that visit the park? (aka 3:00 pm?)
So the chefs will not be forced to speed things up and thus ruin the food.

These aren't current pictures but in honor of National Dog Dress Up day. The only day I have dressed up my dogs is on Christmas so I thought I would share these cuties. By the way Kapono does wear a jacket in the winter when we go out, I don't consider that a dress up though because it is functional (keeps her warm).

This was my Henry in his Santa suit, he hated it. I'm sure he is enjoying NOT wearing it in doggie heaven.

And this is Kapono as Henry's elf, she was less than a year old at the time. It was in 2012. She used to be pretty much black, but now has grayed. Although I guess, don't we all gray a little.....

No ice allowed just a straight up snow day! I've noticed our district does seem to close faster for weather on days that some places call holidays that we don't. We were supposed to have school on MLK day and it had to be used for a make up day and we only got a dusting and we closed same thing also happened on President's day one year.
