@ajrwdwgirl , @betty rose , and @figmentfan423 , since you all inquired about my first day on the new job, I can tell you that my brain is fried right now! Learning curve is high on this one, but eventually I'll get it. One of the frustrating things is that in a huge institution where I work, it sometimes takes the computer division extra time before they get you on all the programs you need to use to do your job. I was on maybe 70% of what I needed today and it may be a few more days before everything is finally up for me. Aside of that and the fact that I'm completely exhausted, I survived day one! People there are great and that helps a lot. Thanks for asking.

So sorry you were exhausted Minnie, but sounds like the first day went pretty darn well, even so...! :)
DWifey had a bit of a learning curve when she went to work for the mortgage company. Many helpful folks there, as well, and she actually got another raise this past Friday just in time for the new year...!!!!! :joyfull:
Cheers to a great new job...you'll be awesome...!!!!!

Yah, it's not the best thing for the environment. We have a (small) nature area not far from where I live, and they really reduce the salt on the roads near the water. (Signs are posted that it is a low salt area and to reduce speed by cars.)

However, salt on roads and sidewalks, steps, etc. can reduce slip and fall injuries, and also save motorists' lives on the roads and highways. Ice can be extremely dangerous, so I have no problem with them using salt in winter.

Yeah, we've tried beet juice in our county (and garlic mist for mosquitoes in the summer) neither were successful. Maybe in areas with light ice and pretty quick warm ups. Our county has gone to vertical spray on liquid, maybe like 6-8 stripes per lane. That seems to work nicely. Our town and state roads still get traditional road salt with the state doing it better. Still the salt just kills a few feet of parkway throughout the town every year and you can't replant too early if the rain hasn't washed enough of the salt away.

A few years ago we had a very cold winter, most days way below freezing for a couple months. The barges (that bring the rock salt in to be hauled by commercial trucks up here) were frozen in the river. They used a great deal of sand that year. Sand may add traction but it doesn't melt the snow. It was hard to regrown the salt killed lawn in the spring without adding new dirt. The sand to dirt ratio was just too high.

The rest are on the camera.

It was definitely CROWDED. If I hadn't been so completely intent on riding PoftC, I would have gone to DCA. I had to get PofTC out of my system first. I still was only there for about 4 hours and managed to get lunch, ride four rides, and go through Sleeping Beauty Castle before heading out.

In other news, my friend is still doing her homework. She's going to do everything due this week tonight and then take a quiz Sunday morning. She says she doesn't care if she's up all night; she wants to enjoy her vacation.

Also, I hear fireworks.

I "think" the WDW monorails also have horns, but don't use them as a matter of course--perhaps only for problems to warn the other pilots approaching.

I dont think its need, since they are supposedly getting automated (if not already)

Of course the WDW monorails have horns and they are very loud too, as does the Disneyland Monorails. Even with automation the monorails are planned to still have pilots for unusual circumstances. Plus how would you not wipe out a squirrel (WDW) or a family of ducks (Disneyland) that take an impromptu stroll down the beam?

I remember first hearing them there in 1968...! :)
My mother was 2 and my father was 8. :hilarious:

Neither of my parents came here until adulthood. They both went to WDW when they were kids. My dad went in 1972 (or 1973; can't remember which) and my mom came in 1976. They went for their first anniversary in 1986, though my dad had been about four times before then.

Monorails, though, because they don't use the horns too frequently in WDW, were a surprise first time I came here. I've since heard them used on occasion in WDW, but not as much as over here.

Hey all. Happy new year. I'm sorry I haven't been on in a while but generally during the holidays, I'm not too active on the social media. I hope everyone had a great season, and when I walked into Target tonight to buy some toothpaste, they had all the hearts up already (grrrr!!), so happy Valentine's Day 2017! And now it is time for me to annoy you with another one of my little pictorials. :)

First, from my office holiday party. Luckily, I didn't end up dancing on any tables.

A few days later, we went to see a really great professional production of Mary Poppins at the John Engemann Theatre in Northport, Long Island, and someone snapped this of me at a piano in the lobby. No I cannot play. Yes, after drinking that giant glass of wine, I probably think I can:

Eventually, Christmas came, and Santa brought........hand sanitizer?!?!?!?!??!?!

It's because Phil knows I am a total germaphoble. This is what he thinks is my gag gift every year, but what he doesn't know is that it is one of my favorites, because I am completely insane. :) PS - I was about to say that I finally got photographed without alcohol in my hands, but.....oh wait......

Somewhere in the middle of all this, I heard that one of my plays (set at Christmas, as a matter of fact) was getting great reviews in London. Here is the cast and a couple of reviews are linked below. I think one of them might have a picture of a half naked butt, so beware. ;) :

After a few days of great movies like Manchester by the Sea, Fences, and La La Land, New Year's came, and we went to our favorite overpriced local restaurant, because Phil had gotten some gift certificates there from a couple of his clients. They do an amazing New Year's Eve with lights all over the place, a great menu, tons of booze, and balloons!!!!!!!!!. Right up my alley:

Finally, I went to Times Square for the ball drop, courtesy of Phil's very large tv set!!

Annnnnnnnnnnd that just about closes out my 2016 insanity. Hoping for lots more in 2017.

I loved talking with all of you last year, and I hope we have a bunch more fun in the coming months!

For those inquiring about photos...I have good news and bad news.

The good news is that I have my mom's camera and am taking plenty of photos, so there will be photos. There may even be a trip report.

The bad news is that until I get to my laptop, I have no access to my photos. So there will likely be few photos until I get home. I'm takinf a few with my phone, but not many.

I'd be excited for a trip report. This is a very unique trip for you, Disneyland to Disney World and marking your graduation (nice to document for memories.) Plus a adult friend trip vs Family trip. The makings of an awesome trip report.

So excited for you. Are you enjoying a solo portion of your trip a tiny tiny bit? I have. Wouldn't want it all the time but every once in awhile to be a bit self indulgent is kinda nice.

Hey!

I was in my Target 2 days ago, both Valentine's Day and EASTER!!!!

I gave away my Grand Piano. Ever want to rid yourself of something that 'parents' thrusted upon you that you never ever wanted to do? Gone. Had to hit 50 before I racked up the courage.

Your NYE looked awesome. Mine was too. I posted a very mini trip report here if you care to look at my posts they start about here....and yes adult beverages were involved. Chicago is awesome for NYE. No Mariah Carey drama but class act. Good food, good beverages, awesome but odd entertainment...nice digs, great weekend pilgrimage to Chicago was here.

Believe started mini report here:

EDIT: And I am a germaphobic, self professed. I would have loved your Gag Gift. Don't leave home without them, purse, car, coat pocket....yep that is me.
