It's looking like our family Christmas celebration is going to be postponed. DD woke up with a fever of 102.2 so we gave her a paracetamol and sent her back to bed. Fever went down for a bit but a couple hours later she was at 104.5. Called urgent care, but they say the temperature isn't as important as how sick she feels. She can move her head with no problem, she's not lethargic, and she has no strange rashes, so they said just to keep giving her paracetamol and make sure she drinks plenty of fluids and call back if she gets worse. Poor kid is freezing, but burning up at the same time. We can't risk bringing it to my BIL, who had a kidney transplant 10 years ago and has to go to the hospital immediately if he gets a fever. So it looks like it's going to be a quiet Christmas at home. I REALLY hope the rest of us don't catch it...it's running rampant at the moment. More than 1/3 of the 6th graders were out sick the day of their Christmas party, and 2 of the 3 4th grade teachers were home sick too.
I hope you missed all of this, sorry for DD hope she recovers quickly. I'm late in posting, but I hope all is well....xoxo

Merry Christmas to you, your hubby, and Jack!!!

Christmas prep is all done. Hubby has two services tonight, and since Christmas is on a Sunday he will have a service too. He finished all his prep for it yesterday, but he has a bad cough and his voice is going in and out. Not good with all the speaking he will have to do. I have him drinking honey and lemon water to help it, which he hates but he is doing it without complaint because he is so worried about losing his voice.
I hope he made it through the service. God bless your family....

Ohio passed Goddard's Law this year and people are going to jail for not taking care of their animals.

Just an FYI, not all people in Indiana are stupid. I have wonderful family there.
Sorry, I understand....ds has had several dogs that she took wonderful care. She saw a lot of animals not taken care of, during the floods and many perished. I got my information from her...

Awesome! Enjoy your double dose! Any news on the job front?
The manager who I would work under has been out this week, so nothing yet. They got all of my references in (it was basically an online survey) and I believe I still have to take a logic-based personality test, but they've basically indicated that as long as everything checks out, I'll have the job. If for some reason this goes under, though, I'll keep hunting when I return.

Really hoping for this job, though. Starting salary was about what I was looking for, plus there's comissions, and the benefits are awesome. 12 days of paid time off that starts immediately, paid holidays, health insurance (though I'll still stay on my parents' plan until I turn 25), dental, vision, short and long-term disability, and a 401K. Hopefully...

I'm going to 8 AM Christmas Mass this morning. When I come home, hubs and I (and Jack . . .) will open gifts. I bought Jack a ridiculous-looking, purple monster chew toy. Supposedly, it's made extra tough so he'll have a struggle to destroy it--nothing Jack likes better than carnage. (If this one lasts an hour, I'll be surprised. )

At 10:00 AM, there is a Disney special, so I might tune that in.

Finally decided yesterday at the supermarket, what to make for dinner today (that would only take minimal effort). Got a roast beef (just throw in oven), bought pre-cooked sides of mashed potatoes and mashed squash (just heat up both), and I'll make an easy green bean casserole (5 minutes prep--throw in oven). Bought a can of gravy (I can nuke that). My sister's bringing crackers and cheese for ahead of time, and I also have (plain) egg nog before dinner as well (traditional). I bought a bottle of nonalcoholic sparkling cider for dinner. For dessert -- bought a Christmas cake and vanilla frozen yogurt. (Oh, I have plenty of Starbucks dark roast coffee available, too! :hungry: )

(I'll bet that Emeril, the famous chef, would be jealous of my cooking skills.) :D
You did a great job. I wish I could have attended. Roast beef, and mashed potatoes......yummy!

I will be on and off at various times during the day (mostly off), so I'd like to take this opportunity to wish a very Merry Christmas to all of you and for those that are not Christian, I hope all had or are having a wonderful Holiday of your beliefs. There's room enough on this planet for all of us to get along, not everyone has to think alike.

So to all of you, even those that have me on "ignore", ;) I sincerely want everyone to have a great Holiday and a happy, healthy New Year. :D
Back at you, even though...I'm late. Happy New Year!

I love it, a dog learning lesson. They are two year olds, and need to learn how to play well with their toys.;) Not really, destruction is more fun!:rolleyes::D

:joyfull: :hilarious:
They've had them one other time since, I think...?
Some more surgery had to be done, and I think they are both (the toys, of course ;)) still on injured reserve, but will be eligible to play again, soon...!!! :D :hilarious: ;) :)

I like cookies that are easier to pipe icing on like gingerbread and molasses. Of course any mistakes eventually wind up in the tummy. :hungry: My daughter made stained glass cookies on her own. They're sugar cookies with jolly ranchers centers.

She has been cooking for awhile. This morning she made french toast with pepper omelets for Christmas breakfast.
Very nice. She has talent.

And, thanks about the painting! Oldest DD loves to paint and to do other artsy things, and SonIL also builds furniture..! :)
Unfortunately, I forgot to take a pic of the desk he built that DDs cityscape is hanging above. :cyclops:
DD is as talented as you. Your holiday pics looked wonderful, there is still hope in humanity....your family shows it. Thanks for sharing...xoxo
