Sometimes, it's hard not to get caught up in it. Certain famous people tend to make an imprint in our minds (if we're fans of them, to begin with).

Emotions are twisted at best--emotions are not logical. I know I've mourned the deaths of certain public figures down through the years. Even though they're not family or friends of ours, grief can still be real. I know that recently I was really down about the loss of John Glenn. Did I ever meet him or know him? No. But his death affected me for a few days. I always admired him for many reasons.
Oh, yes... I understand the emotion, I feel it too. I was so happy that they put Princess (General Leia) back in the SW movies and now that has ended along with any hope that they will reactivate Hans in a flashback portion of any future movies. It wouldn't be the same without her. All those people had some impact on me at some point in my life and this year fresh off the death of my (X) wife of 29 years it all became much more personal. It's just that in our grief we seem to blame things like this on the year or the number of previous events or some other way to justify the loses when it is nothing more then life in all it's moods. As for John Glenn, that was much more of a surprise then anything else because I honestly thought he had passed away a few years ago. Don't know why, but, I did. I had already grieved for that one.

@StarWarsGirl i hope you and your family made it safely home! Not too many days until disneyland for you. I am so jealous!:)
We're still on the road. Got about 45 minutes more.

So excited for Disneyland. My friend and I have been texting back and forth all day about the trip. I'm so excited for my double dose of Disney. :D

Meanwhile, stuff to take care of at home. Packing, laundry, resting, hair cut, making sure I have all my Disneyland documents, new battery in my one watch, all that good stuff.

Safe travels home for the rest of the way. Happy to hear that you're going to Disneyland--you get around!! I've got stuff to do here at home, too, but I'm not doing any of it--ha! (And, I have 3 days off--Saturday through Monday, the holiday.) Laundry is boring, and I swear that the clothes just clone in the hamper--we can't possibly have that many dirty clothes in a week (or could we? o_O :D )

Disneyland, then renting a car and driving down to San Diego, then my friend flies back here, and I fly to Orlando to meet my parents in WDW. Conveniently enough, their flight lands 10 minutes after mine. I'm really getting around.

And then I will have a lot of laundry to do as soon as I get to WDW. Laundry is absolutely fine once you sort it and then leave the washing machine to wash. I'll probably go to the gym while waiting for my laundry.

I have lots of stuff to do too, yet I keep falling asleep in front of the tv. Is it too early to go to bed? Our laundry has piled up quickly too, hubby better get crackin' on that.;)

I generally agree kids should try and be around as many other children at play time as is possible but safety first. If the monitors can't keep all of them safe your ds should be allowed to be with his friend because it would do them both a world of good!

I agree, in this particular case. Sounds like her son would be safer, and they would gain from each other's company.
