So, it's Saturday, and do I get to sleep in?
Nooooooooo sir, I do not.

Up at 5:30 to see one kid off to work, and again at 10:00, to make sure Son #2 is up for his driving lesson.
(He bought my Mom's old Park Avenue off of my brother, so he is finally serious about getting his licence.)

Why do you have to get up @JenniferS? Can't they just get up on their own?
You would think so ... but these boys are working 55-60 hours of hard physical labour right now, and they are pretty tuckered out.
Plus, you know, they're teenaged boys who can also sleep 55-60 hours/week. :hilarious:

Now that you've experienced being up early hours, you really enjoy it, plus you know I'm on here--big treat! :joyfull:

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
Yes, it does, because seconds can save lives, and that's not restricted to minor incidents only. When I was in my late 20s, I took flying lessons (small Cessna). Trust me, the FAA was there on site every day at the airport and all these procedures were drummed into our heads. Same rules apply to large aircraft.
I was referring to catastrophic events. All those folks in the AirAsia flight were still strapped in their seats. Sometimes, it's just your time.

I was sort of being funny, but I really have heard it dozens of times. And I think a quiet moment of prayer produces the same results.

How did you like flying? One of my brothers took some lessons last year. He will probably start up again this summer. He loved it!

I got close to the point of getting my license, but here in the northeast, the weather is a real pain in the neck. (windy conditions aloft, visibility issues at times and sometimes extremely cold temperatures which put a burden on the engines--flight school owner would ground the planes for the students in those situations). I could only go once a week and especially in winter, I'd get weathered out 3 out of 4 times. Although I was pilot in command (solo'd in other words) a number of times, and flew up to small airports in NH and Maine, as well as my home base in MA, the continuous cancellations in my training set me back. I finally got to the point where I just couldn't handle it anymore (financial money pit), and unfortunately came to the realization that it wasn't practical in my situation. Anyway, I did have fun, learned a lot about aviation and met some great people along the way.

Best wishes to your brother!

So, we are supposed to get 6 inches of heavy wet snow in my area starting this morning. I figured I could run out and get some groceries when the store opens at 7:00, but I just looked outside and it's coming down cats and dogs already! I mean it went from nothing, to a full-blown blizzard out there in less than 20 minutes. I'll shop tomorrow; too much of a wuss to drive in snow.

We had maybe an inch or two and is now coming down ice changing to rain. Therefore wiping out any snow. Of course the stupid plows come out to plow and they don't even do a good decent job.

Our storm was a bust. It snowed like crazy for about 45 minutes, but it was too warm. The rest was rain mixed with sleet. Next storm is supposed to be Sunday night, we'll see what happens then.

Is a "waist pack" really not just a "f-a-n-n-y pack"?

In which case; if they ever made a comeback, I too would wear one.
At WDW only of course.

ETA - Really, f-a-n-n-y is a bad word?
If there is no other advantage to getting old (and there isn't) it is that at some point one stops giving a rats butt about what others think of how you look. I have never let the "waist pack" leave thus no comeback was necessary. I find them handy and easy to deal with and anyone that doesn't like how they look can just... look the other way. Thought I was going to say something different didn't you?

I hate driving in snow too, or really I hate driving in any bad weather conditions. Hubby makes fun of me but I'd rather not have the stress and just stay put at home.

The flu virus mutating and flu shots not being effective is not helping matters, not to mention all the viruses going around. My bff's sister was in the hospital for five days because she got a bad viral infection. Of course, she poorly manages her asthma, whereas I manage mine quite well.

I'm actually a lot better. I blew 430 on my peak flow meter earlier. Which is really high. Good thing because I'm going to be bad later and get a milkshake (I lay off milk products when my asthma gets bad). So I'll level off the steroids and do morning nebulizer treatments and be done.
I'm glad you are doing better! Sorry guys I have been slammed at work since I got back from Seattle so I never had a chance to get on this thread.
