Speaking of cold... it is currently 33 degrees here and that is quite unacceptable. You guys up north are not doing your job as containment locations. Let's get with it. It's hard to swing a golf club when it gets this cold.:cold::mad::coldfeet::mad::grumpy: If I recall when I lived up there we always kept it away from the south so we would have someplace nice to go too.

I'm doing my part. It is is 5 degrees here and not there. I'll try and keep it at bay for you through the weekend-it is suppose to have sub-zero highs. Joy Joy :arghh:

I love my dh but sometimes I swear his brain is made of swiss cheese. He just sent me a text asking if we have anything going on next Saturday because a few of the guys want to get the project they're working on finished quickly. Nope nothing important just Christmas Eve Feast of the 7 fishes and first night of Hanukkah. Nope nothing important:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: The one guy and his dw just had a baby and they're supposed to go see Santa with their parents that day can't wait to hear the response he gets:D

Funny! I don't judge him though, I keep forgetting that next Saturday is Christmas Eve as well.

Well, it is snowing again, we are supposed to get about 5-6 inches by tomorrow morning. School actually got out 2 1/2 hours early, that was nice. Although I first heard about the early dismissal from the students, the bus drivers told them they would be getting out of school early as they dropped them off at school! About a half hour later we got the official text and email.

We had a birthday cake for Jesus too, and sang Happy Birthday to him as well.

When I was in first grade, the nuns had the Advent calendar in our classroom. Each day one of the kids could open up a "window" on it, and read the prayer of the day. Meanwhile, my little Protestant friend (who went to public school) had an Advent calendar at home, and she'd open up a window each day--and there would be candy . . .

So in a feeble attempt, I started praying to God for candy, hoping that at least one of the Advent days (oh, God, please . . .) we didn't have to pray, but could EAT! :hilarious:

That was lovely, and thank you for sharing it with us. I like seeing other places in the world. One thing that caught my attention was a clip of what looked like a divi divi tree (or bush). I've only seen divi divi in Aruba, but just wondering if what I saw was that on your island. Maybe it was something that kinda looked like it, but a completely different species.

Funny! I've had advent calendars with chocolate and without. The ones I've had with chocolate have always had low quality chocolate so they were a little disappointing.

Oh, those threads make me insane. (Oh wait . . . I am already. :p )

Let me rephrase: those threads make me mad. If some parents want to shield their kids from every possible bad thing (or even things not bad things at all--just fantasy), then those kids are going to wake up to a really tough reality, once they're out on their own--and they find out that bad experiences are as much a part of life, as good experiences. Really, I just shake my head at some of the junk I read.

I recall as a little tot (I was about 3 years old), my mother took me to see Santa at one of the big department stores in Boston. I was very excited with my mother's buildup of the visit, but when I sat on Santa's lap, I freaking hated his guts! :hilarious: Started crying for my mother to take me away from this scary stranger, and she had to rescue me. Fast forward to 2016: if that situation happened today, would parents start up a petition to ban all Santas, so that just a random, few little kids would not get scared??!!!!!!!!!!!! :banghead:

Yes. :banghead: Yes they would.

When my kids were still in elementary school a very good friend of mine and I were at a party together. They took a trip to WDW and was aware of our frequent trips. She started going off the deep end with her 5 kids chiming in how they wished they could have jumped off the Haunted Mansion during the ride. Learned that had changed religions and our beloved HM was now a satanic and that it had no place in a family park. Went from sharing our love of WDW to being put in a position of defending exposing my children to Satanism. We're not so close anymore.

Ha! Wow--that one came out of left field, eh??!!! :jawdrop: (But my question is what in heck did they think a HM was--a prayer group? )
