Sympathy like at least you have legosAt 6 this morning I couldn't see our storage building across the yard from the snow blowing so hard.

I could live on cauliflower, broccoli and brussel sprouts. Add in a big honk'n carrot (not too mushy) and I'm doing a *happy dance*
a lot of kids are kinda lazier now, and prefer to do online jobs.
You and I must be kindred spirits. We're "almost" the same, except you don't like cold weather or snow that much, BUT, you like shoveling snow!! So do I !! I love getting out there and throwing the stuff around. I make neat paths, too. I'm always proud of my shoveling prowess.
Good morning it's less than 8 hours until the carp is supposed to start and still no clue where the rain/snow line is setting up. No worries because I'm staying in and cooking and baking today. Let's see a big pot of gravy(tomato sauce), baked ziti, spaghetti squash, italian bread, banana bread, sauteed cauliflower, applesauce bread(note to self bring up apples), rice and beans(another recipe that will be in my will) and maybe the first batch of cookies I'm thinking almond. The boys are putting up the tree this year
Dip your finger in the jar and scoop out the peanut butter and just eat it. I live alone so I can do that.

No snow expected here. We're getting rain overnight (well, overnight for me anyway; you'll be getting up).Nothing yet But it sure looks like it's going to snow
It looks like the bad weather will really start when we head down to Hilton Head. Which is 100% fine with me. I neither want to drive in it nor deal with the definite migraine that comes when the weather gets bad in winter.Nothing yet But it sure looks like it's going to snow

Well, I can understand the need for it to be done, as a matter of safety. But people can hardly expect everyone to be able to do it in that same time frame...what if you are disabled? And sure, you can pay someone to do it, if you can afford that, but if you can't, what happens? I don't think we have any such rules here, but I don't know. I do my walkway, my next door neighbors' walkway, and then the sidewalk in front of our house and the sidewalk in front of both neighbors' houses. If one of my other neighbors asked, I'd do theirs too. I don't mind it and we never get so much snow that it takes hours. It's usually a 15 minute job to do just the stuff I already do. If there was someone I knew who needed it done, I'd do it, but the other neighbors all either do it themselves or have kids nearby who do it. I think it's sad that there's no one to help you out! What happened to being neighborly?
No plows here yet, but I'm only seeing about 1" or so...
I so wish we had a law that required sidewalks to be shovelled. Walking our Pups in the Snowy winter months was rough and then it gets icy if the snow sticks around too long. Neighborly here is dependant of the neighborhood. Most of us all know each other. We help each other out and watch out for the elderly, disabled vet etc.
Sidewalks here are a touchy thing. We didn't have sidewalks until 9/11. Some wanted them, some fought them big time and refuse to shovel. Then on the street that our Primary and Private School is on there are carriage walks. Sure they get shovelled then the plow comes through and you have a couple feet of Street Sludge Snow on top of the carriage walk. Stupid engineers, who puts carriage walks in areas where it snows?

Some things are just plain wrong and most of them involve snowWe got about 4-5 inches so far it is still lightly snowing.
I remember seeing called Stabilicers at a few sporting goods places. That may be a good places to start. I'm not sure if I saw them at Cabella's or Gander Mountain. Me I stay inside when it's icy.Our town has a law that sidewalks need to be shoveled within 24 hours of the snow fall. Luckily we don't have a sidewalk in front of our house, so one less thing to shovel. Over at the church though there is a long sidewalk on two sides and often whoever is signed up to shovel/snowblow doesn't show up so hubby gets stuck with it.
Which all this reminds me...you mentioned that you used to put gripper things over your shoes when you would walk Walt in the winter, what were those called and where can I get some. Kapono really enjoys her daily walks and to be honest it is usually the highlight of my day, so I don't want to stop until spring melt. But I am a big wuss about walking on uncleared surfaces, I've fallen more than my fair share.
Yes, this is the time of year when I start wondering what @MinnieM123 thinks is so great about snow. Some things are just plain wrong and most of them involve snow
