My brother either forgot or completely ignored my birthday. I thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt, that maybe he'd just be late. But more than 24 hours, and nada. Not a card or a phone call or even a facebook message. It's like I'm a non-entity. I don't list my birthday on Facebook or anything because I don't need the attention from everyone and the people I WANT to remember know when it is, so I don't NEED to post it everywhere. My best friends all remembered, my husband and his family remembered...my brother is the only one who forgot/didn't care.

So sorry. :(

But, happy birthday from me, anyway...!!!!! :joyfull: ;) :)
Was it yesterday or today?
Today is mine and DWifey's 28th wedding anniversary...!!! :)

That is really sweet of you, I'm sure they both appreciate it.
That's a wonderful thing that you do. I dread snow. It's not something that is done easily at this age. We do take our time. With lots of breaks, and it gets done, but not on time. We have a city wide rule that all sidewalks have to be shoveled in 24 hours, when the last snow flake falls.

I know I did, but, it was a long, long time ago and I really do not remember what it was like. I would have been a pre-teen at that time. If they still sell it, it would be great for long term storage. It probably came out during the cold war days when everyone was building and stocking fallout shelters.
I remember trying that years ago, I think it was a brown bread with a strong taste of molasses. I wasn't a fan, but I was a kid. It was very moist though.

Thanks. It was yesterday. The big 4-0. :p (age doesn't bother me at all...I don't understand why some people dread it. I don't feel any different than I did at 20, except maybe a bit wiser.)

Happy Anniversary! 28 years...that's something! In this day and age, 28 years says a LOT! Have you got big plans?

Happy belated birthday. This year has been such a blur that I almost forgot my dh's birthday:hilarious:

Is this the place where he just moved because they increased the rent so much? Is it even legal? Aren't there restrictions on how much you can raise rent in a certain time period and laws about contracts so they can't just kick him out to bring in a higher paying tenant? It seems wildly unfair and unethical for a property owner to behave in this way.0

I honestly have no clue. We've never discussed it in detail. I'm assuming all contracts are negotiated independently and he's his own "legal team", so who knows.
And, I completely agree...it sucks.

I hope you have a Happy Birthday. We love having you as part of our group. People can disappoint at times.

Well, I can understand the need for it to be done, as a matter of safety. But people can hardly expect everyone to be able to do it in that same time frame...what if you are disabled? And sure, you can pay someone to do it, if you can afford that, but if you can't, what happens? I don't think we have any such rules here, but I don't know. I do my walkway, my next door neighbors' walkway, and then the sidewalk in front of our house and the sidewalk in front of both neighbors' houses. If one of my other neighbors asked, I'd do theirs too. I don't mind it and we never get so much snow that it takes hours. It's usually a 15 minute job to do just the stuff I already do. If there was someone I knew who needed it done, I'd do it, but the other neighbors all either do it themselves or have kids nearby who do it. I think it's sad that there's no one to help you out! What happened to being neighborly?

At 54 I definitely notice the difference in my body physically from when I was 20, but, not so much in my mind, other than, yes, hopefully a little wiser. ;)

Thanks! :)
No real big plans for our 28th.
Although we haven't yet decided how, we'll definitely do it up on our 30th...! :)

I think people are so busy with their lives, they just do what they have to do. When I was home, and not working, I shoveled out my neighbor's. Two new family's moved in, and they are older like us. Not quite as old, but older.

That's very sweet, my boys do a few of the older neighbor's houses around here. They know my boys do it but they aren't allowed to charge but most of them do tip.
I wouldn't necessarily call any of my neighbors elderly, though one of them is a couple who are probably in their 70s and another is a lady probably in her 60s, but she has a son and daughter-in-law who live a block away, so they can do hers and the guy in his 70s is one of those guys who needs to do his own gardening and such...like...he feels it keeps him going. I don't think he'd accept help if I offered. Though maybe if he didn't KNOW...
