It's almost like the dress code is now only "suggested" versus enforced. My hunch is that they rarely enforce a dress code anymore, except for probably Victoria & Albert's at the GF. My question is, why do they have a dress code for certain restaurants, but then ignore it? Either have a dress code and enforce the rule, or don't have a dress code. I can't stand indecisive management. That drives me batty. (If I had a picture of a bat I'd put it here for emphasis.) :hilarious:
At Yachtsman, the dress code is business casual. Basically, it's no spaghetti straps, nothing with rips or tears, etc. I usually wear a nice blouse and shorts. Never had a problem there with people who have screaming children or people being completely sloppily dressed. Kids who come there are generally well-behaved. My parents took both of us there as kids. When we were kids, they taught us how to behave and if we didn't, we knew we'd be in trouble.

Nor I, but then again it takes a lot to offend me really. Unless someone is in my face, directly focusing on me, I am usually oblivious to what people are wearing and even if it were aware I doubt that it would bother me in the least. I used to know this old guy who's favorite saying was... "you go to your church, I'll go to mine."

Do they even have a published dress code for there anymore? I have seen one for over at the Grand Floridian, but not in the California Grill. Heck, the name California Grill does not exactly scream formal. I still think that at some point in time we all need to check our calenders and realize that this is the 21st Century. If you look at the old photos of people visiting Disneyland in the 50's the men were wearing suit and tie and the women were wearing dresses and hats. In other words, their Sunday best! Do we really want to go back to that time?

I will admit that there are some folks that shouldn't wear shorts even in their own homes. It is not always a good look. Personally, I have legs to die for (muscular and manly) so I wear shorts merely to give everyone something pleasant to look at.:)

And that is the camp I am in. There are other vacation destinations I avoid because of all the fuss over the proper look. I fail to see the necessity of that at Disney World. I too wear shorts at the parks, I'm in pretty good physical shape but being a Mom of 20 something adult kids they are age appropriate. I have no desire to have people laughing at me as I pretend to be reliving my youth.

Where I often have my OMG moments at WDW is night life areas and pools. Boy those pools you really need to not look. Some women in swim wear that was not designed to have that much body being exposed to the world or opposite way too little of a swim suit for a family environment. But gals don't have a corner on that market, some men in speedos well no guy should be in speedos at WDW imo, or what makes some guys believe they shouldn't cover up above the waist? Don't get me wrong some guys have what it takes to be exempt but ouch many should take a good look in the mirror at what portions of their bodies they flashing to the rest of the World. Wooba. They do have rash guard shirts for men too that are designed for being in a pool not just for women or children.

I guess what it comes down to is I am more taken a back by pool wear than restaurant attire. And seriously cover-ups are a nice touch when going into the QS venues.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
I remember flying coach back in the day wearing dress shoes, pants, and shirt with a little sport coat and a clip-on tie.
Times have definitely changed.
My mom used to always dress up to go to the doctor's.

This always made zero sense to me.
If there's any place where you are expected to look carppy, it's the doctor's office.

I don't agree. Formal Wear is very expensive to rent and for women even worse let alone women finding shoes that fit to rent. You have issues with the price of Chef's at in the France pavilion can you imagine having to rent formal wear on top of the price of the menu? And to what end? I'm genuinely more concerned with the food, service and pray that the adults and children behave. I can't say a person in shorts or a tshirt ever ruined my dining experience at WDW.

I will totally agree with you on signature restaurants in the real world or fine dining attire also for other places but WDW in the 21st century is a very casual resort.
Lets agree to disagree, but I expect differently from a "Signature dinning" than to a restaurant in the parks.
And honestly, a lot of the restaurants in Epcot dont exactly scream "deluxe" or "fine".

I think because Victoria and Albert isnt owned by WDW or any of its parents company?

You know, speaking of speedos.

I noticed that.. the older and less body-favorable the persons become.. the more wild their clothes are (on the males) and the inverse for females.

My hometown is a very popular US citizens destination.
And older men(above 50 years old) are the ones usually wearing the smallest speedos ever..

I know, I just don't get that! Speedo's are competition suits and those you mentioned are not in any physical condition to pretend they are competition divers or swimmers.

My DS about 155 pounds and 6 foot wore a speedo jammer instead of a classic speedo as did most of his competitive team and club. Even still they only pulled their warm up bottoms off as they were getting on the block and pulled them right back on again getting out of the water. My DD about 95# and 5'4' same thing in her woman's suit the girls would wrap a beach towel around themselves before getting on a block and immediately getting out of the water.

Speedos on old folks - Hubby calls them banana hammocks.

Yeah I agree. Behavior is taught from young. By the time mine were two both could just look at the expression of my eyes if they even slightly began to forget where they were. I had a saying for when we were approaching our destination, family parties, airplanes, airports, any restaurant from a McDonalds to fine dining etc., simply Best Behavior. They knew that meant no playing around, hands off each other, no playing with food or beverages, respect your surroundings, you name it. It started as toddlers, they are like cats very receptive to learning, maybe not what they prefer but dang they are trainable. My DD was 2 weeks old when she went to her first Thanksgiving at a fine dining restaurant. Timed it to where she'd fall sleep in the car. When she woke my Mom immediately shoved a bottle in her mouth and when done she was just happy to be held. That is why I look at parents more than kids when they act out minus some issue that a parent is attempting to gain control over of course. It isn't kids responsibility to figure it out, it is parents job to teach with boundaries.

Then again I am one of those that will excuse myself from a table to take a phone call if necessary. Never did believe people dining should have to listen to that.

Just got off the phone with the boss.
The staffing placements for the spring have been decided.

Hubby got the site I wanted.
I got the site he wanted.

Mike is actually returning to Phase II of his previous site. He thought he was so done with "those people".
He will also be getting a new partner.

I will be going to the $$ site, and either getting Mike's old partner M. (if he is sufficiently recovered from his cancer treatment), or my old partner from 8 years ago, "the other Jennifer".

I'm okay with the arrangements. Hubby is less than thrilled. He'll knock it out of the park, same as he did in Ph. I (which is why he got re-assigned to there), but the Purchasers are absolute b*ll-busters.

Listen now to the press conference about under inflated footballs. VERY well chosen words by Brady over Deflate-a-gate.

Sure would be fun to see that game replayed this weekend. Ha! Dreamland.

Yeah, and I've never had anyone even mention a dress code when making reservations. What the CMs priority is getting a credit card number.

Interesting that there is a conflict. Men is collared shirt yet it does not say a Tshirt are not permitted. They do dance around.
