@Gabe1 , I thought of you when I was watching the news this afternoon. For the 2nd year in a row, some people were protesting in Chicago, along Michigan Avenue, in front of the stores on Black Friday. I feel bad for the merchants who make a bulk of their sales in Christmas purchases. If people want to protest whatever cause, that's o.k.--but they shouldn't block the store entrances.

I think those protests are not only for consumerism.. theres companies that FORCE their employees to work overtime and even in turkey day with no extra pay.

Even if misplaced, enjoy the fact that people care about you and want only to see you happy. They are from a different generation and to them those things were important. No need to get all knotted up over it. Unless, you family allows arranged marriages you are safe. Who knows you might even have met someone that would be your kindred spirit, but, you passed up on it. Believe me there will come a time when no one gives half a snot if you are alone or not.
I know a few nice slightly older..... if you're interested:D I like Beverly G. always have my rolodex ready:D

I'm a bit sad we can't be able to trace one part of my family tree back past about 1880:(
Well, I haven't been able to trace my mom's side back too far because they came to the US from Germany in the 1800s. Anything before that, I don't have. I have looked for the town listed in the census records as their origin, but it apparently doesn't exist anymore, so I don't actually know where it is. Crazy....I live so close to Germany and can't do the research because things have changed so much.0

That's very sad. unfortunately even church records from where my grandfather was from can't be located because of WW 2.:(

Evey mom everywhere says where's my grandkids or when I was your age, I had 3 kids. You also have to factor in the passive aggressive attitude too: muttering under the breath, making comments about it not related to the topic.

But someone else made stuffing this year. It was watery and not that great. In other years, my aunt grounded the fungus up so you couldn't tell they were there but my uncle leaves the fungus whole which I saw and took them out.

Fungus = Mushrooms.

My uncle told me I was a beer snob. :joyfull: He was asked if I wanted beer and said he had Coors light...I said noooo.
Not true, my mom told me she didn't want grandkids yet and that I shouldn't even be DATING until I was at least 30. I think she'd have been perfectly happy if I'd have joined a convent, even though we aren't Catholic. Even when I got married, she was telling me not to have kids yet. Maybe I should have been offended...was I so bad that she was traumatized?

I burst out laughing this morning over your story and the photo. :hilarious: You know what gets me -- it's that rellies, in particular, (worse than friends in this regard), just assume that you are incapable of finding your own mate, in your own time . . . Why on earth do they believe this??!! :eek: (Sure, they mean well and all, but it drives me crazy when I hear stories like this one.) :mad:
That is true. Also the assumption that just because I have never been in a relationship means that I cannot possibly be happy. I told my cousin a while back that I'd never been in a relationship, and she was like, "Well, I know this nice guy..." :facepalm: It's really that I haven't met anyone that I've been interested in, and I haven't had the time to date in college. I barely see my friends during the semester; that wouldn't be fair to be in a relationship and then have very little time for the other person. That, and I'm just perfectly content being single for the moment. Not that anyone believes me...
