Our evening was lovely. Everybody left stuffed. Well, everyone except the person who will only eat the turkey and the cranberry sauce (namely me. Satisfied, not stuffed).

And here is the latest Grandma trying to matchmake story...
Grandma: "I know this nice young man who says he also doesn't want to get married, but his family wants him to get married, and when I told his family about you, they kept asking me when you were going to come up and visit me because they really want him to settle down. He owns a car and he's ready to buy a house..."
Me: *drinks half a glass of wine in under three minutes*

I guess my dad's side of the family had some skeletons in the closet...my aunt married a pedophile, which apparently wasn't nearly as bad in the family's eyes as my uncle marrying a native American girl in WWII....I guess he didn't even tell most of the family. When I was doing my genealogy, I called my aunt to get as much information as she might have about the family and she broke down into tears, told me she was so glad I was interested in the family history, but to please be forgiving because our family had a problem with that and there were a lot of things to not be very proud of. I guess my great grandmother left my great grandfather without him even knowing she was pregnant and she joined some religious sect that didn't believe in medicine so she refused to get help when her daughter (a half sister to my grandfather) got...cholera? Or maybe scarlet Fever? Some disease...and she died. My grandfather rather lost his faith in religion. Anyway, I found my family history FASCINATING, but my aunt found it very embarrassing and was afraid I would disown my family when I found out about them. It just made me want to learn more about them. But then, I love history and I think EVERY family has some secrets.
I'm a bit sad we can't be able to trace one part of my family tree back past about 1880:(

It feels really good just to sit:D. That was a nice10 minutes and now it's time to get going. At least there's no cooking today, and I'm a child short it seems bird seed is going on sale today and my mother in law needs on of my boys to carry it for her. Oh yeah my dh is in the dog house, he brought up the subject of my making a pot of soup for him today during dinner yesterday. His mommy yelled at him:D

Evey mom everywhere says where's my grandkids or when I was your age, I had 3 kids. You also have to factor in the passive aggressive attitude too: muttering under the breath, making comments about it not related to the topic.

But someone else made stuffing this year. It was watery and not that great. In other years, my aunt grounded the fungus up so you couldn't tell they were there but my uncle leaves the fungus whole which I saw and took them out.

Fungus = Mushrooms.

My uncle told me I was a beer snob. :joyfull: He was asked if I wanted beer and said he had Coors light...I said noooo.

Yes, what we call a grandfather clock, and my folks also have this, too...

An antique RCA phonograph from the early 20th century.
And, it still works...!!! :)

Deja vu . . . not the phonograph (no one in our family ever had one of those), but what caught my eye was the white lacey thing on top of it. My grandmother has those things all over her house!! :) I've yet to figure out what the heck they were for! ;)

My plate...!!! :eek: :D ;) :hungry:

Is that a piece of ham, up on the right-hand side, too? That plate looks delicious!! Hubs, sis and I went out to a restaurant and I had baked, stuffed shrimp, Delmonico potatoes, veggies, and chocolate cake. Hubs had oysters on the half shell, clam chowder, steak, veggies and cheesecake (rare for him--he hardly ever eats sweets). Sis had the traditional turkey dinner with all the fixins. Isn't food wonderful??!!! :hungry: :joyfull:

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! I'm away so I can't post any funny pics but I hope you are all having a wonderful day! :)

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving. Not surprised that you don't have any pictures--I think we all know that you're the life of the party, and there just wasn't enough time for photos between the fun, food and libations! :p

P.S. Speaking of libations, I had a glass of wine with my Thanksgiving dinner yesterday! I liked it! :happy:
