@StarWarsGirl and @Gabe1 , did you watch GG? I'm dying to talk about it with someone, but no one I know has finished it!
My mom and I watched the first two today. We probably would have watched all of them, but my dad wouldn't let us on the good TV, so we'll finish up tomorrow. Speaking of which, I'm not sure how, but somehow I've gotten my mother hooked on GG as well. I didn't think she'd want to watch with me, but it appears she does. Might have something to do with me being home a couple of days sick and doing nothing BUT watching that show. That might have done the trick.:joyfull:

Nope! :( It didn't launch until mid-morning here, you were likely done by then. We did watch Season 1 as we put up the tree. I'm going to likely need to watch that again at some point as I missed somethings but there were a couple surprises that I got a kick out of. Maybe tomorrow next episode.

I guess my dad's side of the family had some skeletons in the closet...my aunt married a pedophile, which apparently wasn't nearly as bad in the family's eyes as my uncle marrying a native American girl in WWII....I guess he didn't even tell most of the family. When I was doing my genealogy, I called my aunt to get as much information as she might have about the family and she broke down into tears, told me she was so glad I was interested in the family history, but to please be forgiving because our family had a problem with that and there were a lot of things to not be very proud of. I guess my great grandmother left my great grandfather without him even knowing she was pregnant and she joined some religious sect that didn't believe in medicine so she refused to get help when her daughter (a half sister to my grandfather) got...cholera? Or maybe scarlet Fever? Some disease...and she died. My grandfather rather lost his faith in religion. Anyway, I found my family history FASCINATING, but my aunt found it very embarrassing and was afraid I would disown my family when I found out about them. It just made me want to learn more about them. But then, I love history and I think EVERY family has some secrets.
I agree, we have skeleton's on my dad's side. We can't get it all straight. But Dad's Mom was Native American and that was just not done in that day.

@Gabe1 , I thought of you when I was watching the news this afternoon. For the 2nd year in a row, some people were protesting in Chicago, along Michigan Avenue, in front of the stores on Black Friday. I feel bad for the merchants who make a bulk of their sales in Christmas purchases. If people want to protest whatever cause, that's o.k.--but they shouldn't block the store entrances.

Yeah, it is going over as poorly as it did last year. I completely understand wanting your voice heard. Sadly, if you are attempting to garner support from the community and business leaders this isn't working and my fear for the protesters is that other than throwing things up for grabs, the message is completely lost and replaced with anger and disrespect for the protesters and their message they would have liked to remind others of. It is having the opposite effect.

When the protesters and strike was delayed by Ohare workers as not to mess up the Thanksgiving Holidays for others they immediately received empathy and people listened to their points, the news media carried their message. Delivery and mutual respect are not behaviors that should be overlooked.

The cause today has merit obviously but if they want to be listened to they need some new leadership that can communicate better than the mayhem. Chicago is an awesome town that is perceived by others worldwide as crazy unlawful murderers. Today the media reinforced the darkside of Chicago and the message was lost to coverage of the unruly behaviors instead. Didn't paint the protesters in any legitimate light. The media coverage painted the protesters more as thugs causing mayhem in the streets. Unfortunate.
