Our evening was lovely. Everybody left stuffed. Well, everyone except the person who will only eat the turkey and the cranberry sauce (namely me. Satisfied, not stuffed).

And here is the latest Grandma trying to matchmake story...
Grandma: "I know this nice young man who says he also doesn't want to get married, but his family wants him to get married, and when I told his family about you, they kept asking me when you were going to come up and visit me because they really want him to settle down. He owns a car and he's ready to buy a house..."
Me: *drinks half a glass of wine in under three minutes*

I burst out laughing this morning over your story and the photo. :hilarious: You know what gets me -- it's that rellies, in particular, (worse than friends in this regard), just assume that you are incapable of finding your own mate, in your own time . . . Why on earth do they believe this??!! (Sure, they mean well and all, but it drives me crazy when I hear stories like this one.)

Evey mom everywhere says where's my grandkids or when I was your age, I had 3 kids. You also have to factor in the passive aggressive attitude too: muttering under the breath, making comments about it not related to the topic.

But someone else made stuffing this year. It was watery and not that great. In other years, my aunt grounded the fungus up so you couldn't tell they were there but my uncle leaves the fungus whole which I saw and took them out.

Fungus = Mushrooms.

My uncle told me I was a beer snob. :joyfull: He was asked if I wanted beer and said he had Coors light...I said noooo.

Each year, I always look forward to your family holiday recaps!! :hilarious: :hilarious: :hilarious:

Deja vu . . . not the phonograph (no one in our family ever had one of those), but what caught my eye was the white lacey thing on top of it. My grandmother has those things all over her house!! :) I've yet to figure out what the heck they were for! ;)

Hahaaa...!
Those are called a doily/doilies.
In this particular case it's being used to protect the surface of the lid of the phonograph. There's a glass bowl on top of it that collects things like keys and stuff. ;)
Here's a Wiki for you...! :D :)

Is that a piece of ham, up on the right-hand side, too? That plate looks delicious!! Hubs, sis and I went out to a restaurant and I had baked, stuffed shrimp, Delmonico potatoes, veggies, and chocolate cake. Hubs had oysters on the half shell, clam chowder, steak, veggies and cheesecake (rare for him--he hardly ever eats sweets). Sis had the traditional turkey dinner with all the fixins. Isn't food wonderful??!!! :hungry: :joyfull:

Yes, that is indeed a chunk of ham up there!
Oldest DD cooked it with DWifey's recipe, and SonIL "sliced" it...into chunks...!!! :hilarious:
It was very delicious, though...!!! :hungry: :)

Y'all's Thanksgiving feast sounds absolutely delicious!!! :hungry: I don't see anything there that I don't like...yes, please, to all if it...!!!!! :joyfull: :)

Ha! That's so cute!! (And, ever so delicious looking on our favorite paper plate design! ;) )

At the hospital where I work, the management had a free breakfast for all the veterans on staff. None of us get the holiday off, so I'm happy that they do this, to recognize our staff veterans for their service.

That is awesome! Our family is sooo very grateful to vets...and, our kiddos get it, too...!!!
The cookies came from a local Austin business called Tiff's Treats...so delicious...!!!!! :hungry:

The stores by me were almost empty this morning:joyfull: From what I heard they were crazy yesterday. That's just wrong. I'm glad I was able to get in and out quickly but there is something very wrong with shopping on Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is for the 4 Fs! Family, friends, food and football, shopping doesn't fall into any of those. Rant over.

Even if misplaced, enjoy the fact that people care about you and want only to see you happy. They are from a different generation and to them those things were important. No need to get all knotted up over it. Unless, your family allows arranged marriages you are safe. Who knows you might even have met someone that would be your kindred spirit, but, you passed up on it. Believe me there will come a time when no one gives half a snot if you are alone or not.

I don't watch football. Maybe we could substitute the 4th F with fighting? Isn't that how family get-togethers end up?! :hilarious: ;)
