@MinnieM123

What type of resturant did you guys land on for ThanksGiving this year? :hungry:

One that serves food. :p Oh, o.k. I guess you want details. It's a really nice restaurant by the side of the ocean, about a half hour from where we live. They have the traditional turkey dinner, but you can also order off their extensive menu. Most likely, I'll get either a surf and turf combo, or some sort of fish entree. Sometimes I like shrimp cocktail for an appetizer, too. Then, I'll probably get some pie for dessert, or chocolate cake, or both, or ice cream, too. :D Way too many decisions--but I love these types of decisions!! :joyfull: :joyfull: It is Thanksgiving after all !!!!

Oh, I indeed understand where it is readily available and reliable. I would do it myself, after running the numbers, if I was saving a decent amount of money.
In this part of town, we have no convenient access to rail, light rail, or bus service.
We actually had bus service at one point, but, it was so sparse and unreliable that it was pretty much a joke and discontinued.
When, or if, things change significantly in my lifetime, I'll definitely consider it all. Until that time, I'll travel to and fro in my own personal transportation, mostly ;), at my leisure.

After all...

I meant to tell you, back in my original post about this, that my employer pays a chunk of this $200. So, I actually pay $140 a month, out of pocket. Still, it's way too high! (Some employers in the city discount the monthly transportation passes, because the parking is a zoo without enough for thousands of employees all over the city. So this was a bit of a compromise on their part, to get more people to leave their cars at home.)

1 month...

I got to talk to my kid today, she wanted to knew when she'd see me again. We babbled on in french (bad french) for a few minutes...

We talked about what she wanted to do if she could go to Paris (she still doesn't know)...

Que vous faire a Paris?

"I want to see the Eiffel Tower!"

Je voix le tour Eiffel

What else, wouldn't you want to climb to the top?

Voile-tu le grimper?

"No, that could be scary."

No. Terrible.

Soon...been too long...

Just checked back on your pre-trip report. Last post was Nov. 7. Glad to see here that everything is going on schedule. I love the fact that this trip is a huge surprise for her--good for you for keeping it all a big secret!! I know you've been looking forward to seeing her and experiencing a wonderful holiday trip. Keep us posted.

Sounds like nice traveling weather!! So excited for you two -- enjoy every minute!!!

Thanks hopefully all will go well. Just a few hours of work today. And since my brother-in-law picked up his dogs and my dog yesterday it is really strange at our house. All last night I went to talk to Kapono and she wasn't there, and this morning it is weird not having her around.

It must be like sending your kids away for an evening. It's quiet and you wonder what they're up to. ;) :D

I just pulled out the garlic and thought of @MinnieM123 because I'm using jarred garlic. i got lucky and found organic jarred garlic for less than what the DIY stuff costs. I don't mind chopping food and find it relaxing for the most part, except for garlic! If I only have to do one bulb I'll DIY but for anything over that I will sometimes use the jar stuff:hilarious: I also thought of @Gabe1 because I used swimming goggles to chop 4 quarts(finished) of onions:eek:

What a shame I never got to see this attraction, nor Horizons.

I'm not a fan of reunions. My side of the family only does reunions by default, usually weddings and funerals at best. As I've said on my Mom's side of the family I have 43 first cousins, some I've never met, some I wish I had not and a special few I really love. Those I see.

Now the other side of the family they tended to force these things. It too has dwindled. Something happened...we were never sure what but the elders have been strained at best since, the annual reunions stopped. We were all curious but nobody would crack and tell us what went down. One year the reunions just stopped. Me, Amen. Boy I hated those 4x a year (both sides of the inlaw family) events. Even the cousins were one upping each other...the elders competing for bragging rights. It was unseemly. So not a fan.

Me, if you like the people, you see them, you spend time with them. If not why bother?
I feel your pain, we used to be very tightly knitted on both sides of my family(mother and father). With family reunions every year on both sides. Now we hardly meet with my mother's side (which is a pretty broken family I must say).
We still meet with my father side from time to time... Still.. We meet less and less in group.
