I'm a little tired, I did some Christmas baking and housework today. I wanted to have it ready for when my sister comes to pick up her dogs in a few days. It is a switch of dogs, we had her pup while she was in Disney &cruise and she will take hers. Anyway, I made fudges, chocolate vanilla cream candies (we call them napoleon candy), soda cracker candy, and mint kiss cookies. I forgot to take pictures before I packed them into the freezer. I'll try to post some as I eat them come December.
Please do. They sound yummy.

Trip over.. went to RIO SECRETO. Totally worth it.
Just ouch the photos are 35 USD a piece or 96 for the cd.

Im now on an express hotel in GDL, tomorrow driving back home.

Its still amazing the difference in PRICE and QUALITY of express hotels from the cancun/playa del carmen vs GDL.

Wish us good luck, as tomorrow we drive for 5 hours at most... and hoping that we dont get a lot of traffic.
Make it home safely!

Mission accomplished my Christmas shopping is done. YEA!!!!!!!! I'm not saying I won't grab a small trinket or 2 if something catches my eye but the only shopping except for food is fabric next weekend and that's mostly to stock my now empty stash.

Wow! As usual, you're right on top of things. I have 3 more gifts to still get, but I'm happy so far with what I've bought for other people on my list. :)

No rain here - it never got above freezing... I winterized the barn yesterday, but I wasn't cold enough inside to plug in the heat tracing for the water pipes. I like to plug it in so it turns on when I have some time to be in there to check it out for problems. A few years ago we had critters chew through the insulation and there were bare wires. Needless to say that scared the heck out of me - barn fires are horrific. There was one posted on Facebook yesterday; 9 fire departments responded, but the barn was a total loss.
My dad helped to put out a barn fire, we didn't know the people, but that was what you did. The horses were saved but the barn was a total loss. I watched from the car. So scary.

Was it a treadle machine? My Aunt had one of those and she used it for two generation's too. It was passed on to a DIL she used it for many years. Things were made to last. I'm not fond of the throw away generation.

No, not quite as much of a relic as a treadle, but it did have a foot pedal attachment and a knee lever attachment--I've never see a knee attachment anywhere else on other machines (it was on the right--you'd lean your knee into it to make the machine go). So she had the option of using either the foot pedal or the knee attachment.

Gettin' ready to head out in about an hour to DWifey's mothers side of the family traditional family Thanksgiving/reunion.
Held at a VFW hall out in the middle of nowhere. Literally. ;)
Should be the usual 160-180 family members there. Another close family. Always good to see and visit with everyone...! :)
I hope you are having the best time. We don't do reunions anymore, I sure miss them!

Out for me folks.....just a question....not meant to be anything but a question....we couldn't use our phone today, and we had the military flying around from 5 A.M. until after 2P.M. Our phone came back when the military stopped flying. We went to the pharmacy for two days, and can't get our prescriptions, several, like 40 people in line. We are supposed to get the prescriptions tomorrow...we'll see.....strange happenings today. We've lived here for over 20 years, and have never seen anything like this....

I have spent almost 2 hours on the project and only have about 4 more small things to get to complete my purchases this year. I do so love the internet, but, I have picked up a few things at stores that I was going to anyway. There used to be a old saying that went. Christmas... the time of year when you spend money you don't have on people you don't like for items they don't need. They tell me it used to be a religious holiday.

I think the Air Force has discovered that you and Mr. Bets might be aliens? ;)

Can't tell you about the phones. The military is probably doing its usual weekend warrior exercises (guards) and the timing probably a coincidence. The pharmacy, however, can probably be explained because the help has spent most of the day out in the alley smoking pot. It is Colorado after all.

We had a dog that loved hubby's socks. He had so many holes....we had to put his laundry in a plastic bin. Can you say, stinky feet?:eek::rolleyes::rolleyes::joyfull:
That's funny. I had to do something similar with my paper recycling because Belle would go grab a piece of paper from recycling and destroy it. I cared less about the fact that she was destroying it so much as I cared about the little bits of paper all over the floor. I got a tall plastic trashcan for paper recycling that goes under my desk. She hasn't stolen anything from my paper recycling since.

Mine has a knee attachment and it's just a year old and it also has a push button option for some functions:joyfull: BTW I'd love an old treadle Singer for straight stitching. Hint hint if my dh ever gets to this thread:D

I'm rather proud of myself this year as most of what I got everybody is either useful or going to be sentimental:joyfull:

My mom's side had a big family reunion every Labour Day (Portuguese). They stopped doing it a few years ago because the cousins who put it on were getting too old and tired of people from the street coming in.

My dad's side didn't do a Christmas Eve party last year like we usually do. I moved into my grandparents house that had the party. We have my cousins wedding next year, ironically, on April Fools Day. I thought it was a joke when I got told to but apparently its not. I really don't want to go.
