No rain here - it never got above freezing... I winterized the barn yesterday, but I wasn't cold enough inside to plug in the heat tracing for the water pipes. I like to plug it in so it turns on when I have some time to be in there to check it out for problems. A few years ago we had critters chew through the insulation and there were bare wires. Needless to say that scared the heck out of me - barn fires are horrific. There was one posted on Facebook yesterday; 9 fire departments responded, but the barn was a total loss.

The low here overnight was 36.
Was checkin' out our state temperature extremes for yesterday just a bit ago...
The state high was 72 in McAllen, TX, and the state low was 16 (yes, 16 degrees) in Canadian, TX. How appropriate is that...!!!!!

Hope you never have a barn fire.
I'd hafta' ask my mom and pop, but, I don't ever remember my grandparents ever suffering that. Those barns were stuffed full of hay, depending on the time of year. Would have definitely been a total disaster, as the closest towns (fire departments/volunteers) were miles away.

Our Belley Crazy Cakes wasn't feeling well late last night. She threw up a coupla' times. Have no clue what triggered it, but by mornin' she was all stretched out (good grief, she's long all stretched out...! ) on our bed between us waggin' her tail, obviously feelin' much better...!

It was beautiful and now it is all gray and overcast.

Yes we are dog sitting. It is my sister's 3 dogs, a miniature schnauzer (like ours), a papillion , and a 6 month old toy schnauzer. The pup is a hoot, he is full of puppy personality. We have been thinking of getting a puppy but we weren't sure how our pup, Kapono, would react. She tolerates this pup but is annoyed by it as well. I think she knows that his presence is not permanent as she has seen him in his real home and the other dogs are with him so she doesn't seem too concerned, but if a new pup joined her by himself she might be more concerned. Although she doesn't like when I snuggle the puppy.

Sorry to hear that your Belle wasn't feeling good, hopefully it is just a passing bug. If she is waggin' her tail she's probably okay. And have a good time with the family Thanksgiving/reunion today!

Yikes, be careful with your barn. We usually have a couple barn fires around here in the winter too, it is always a shame.

Gettin' ready to head out in about an hour to DWifey's mothers side of the family traditional family Thanksgiving/reunion.
Held at a VFW hall out in the middle of nowhere. Literally.
Should be the usual 160-180 family members there. Another close family. Always good to see and visit with everyone...!

Mission accomplished my Christmas shopping is done. YEA!!!!!!!! I'm not saying I won't grab a small trinket or 2 if something catches my eye but the only shopping except for food is fabric next weekend and that's mostly to stock my now empty stash.

Thanks, that's a very nice message. My dreams were crazy a police cruiser caught someone speeding behind the house. The flashing red lights woke me up. I went back to sleep and dreamed we had a conalrad alert! So funny. I turned
my bed on high maybe I thought I was being nuked!

She doesn't play with the ones she has! Other than her activity mat, which she either attacks or sleeps on. She's a cat; her favorite things to play with are things that she isn't supposed to play with

We had a dog that loved hubby's socks. He had so many holes....we had to put his laundry in a plastic bin. Can you say, stinky feet?

My hand/eye coordination has diminished over the years as well. Ya gotta love aging.

Good, strong, metal parts . . . that's what machines were made of years ago. I think about the OLD Singer sewing machine that my grandmother used--I don't even know how many years old it was, but it looked like the original one ever made !! Anyway, she used that for her own family's clothing (she sewed, knitted and crocheted a lot), and then my mother used it for our family for many years.

So, two generations of families were served quite well by this old workhorse of a machine. I recall my mother telling me (years ago) that all they ever did was occasionally use sewing machine oil, and that was IT !!! It never had a broken part. When my parents passed away, neither my sister nor I wanted it, because it was too big (it was in a special sewing machine table, and of course, weighed a ton). Sis and I had our own small, separate apartments when we moved away from home, and it was too big to haul around. We gave it to a neighbor back then. (She's probably still using it now!!)

Was it a treadle machine? My Aunt had one of those and she used it for two generation's too. It was passed on to a DIL she used it for many years. Things were made to last. I'm not fond of the throw away generation.

Well, it finally showed up.
Cooler weather, that is.
Lows all over the area in the high 30's-low 40's this morning. 'Posed to only get up to 62 today.
Predicted low in the mid 30's for us overnight tonight, with freeze warnings in outlying areas.
BRRRRR...!!!

Sympathy for you and the family. That's down right cold!
