I understand about trying to keep traditions up but also have learned new traditions are equally as memorable while still loving the memories of days gone bye.

I've never ordered Turkey at a restaurant for Thanksgiving. The first year we went out to dinner I was prego for the first time and about 2 months along. Meats did not sit well with me at all. :hungover: So I had this wondrous lasagna. And so it began. We moved on over the years to high end steakhouses and have now landed on Harry Caray's for the last 8 years as they have that awesome 24 sides/all you can eat you just order the meat on alacarte. Mine is all accompanied by a few lovely glasses of Riesling. We flop between Ribeye, huge filets and my Mom always eats the Prime Rib.

And @MinnieM123 you will appreciate this....my Mom is so much like your Mom was...she'll always pick out the Prime Rib (which none of us really care for over steak) and try to convenience us that we should order it too, we have the same head banging conversation every year-just like you and your Mom with Sweet Potatoes. :joyfull:
Was just watching the menus of that restaurant you mentioned.
While I know the prices arent that big for a steakhouse. Still hurt a lot factoring the exchange rate of my country's currency D:
Still, the menu looks wow.. Id totally order the surf and turf and perhaps the lamb chops oreganato.

The puppy (about 6 months out) cried and howled when hubby took our dog out to the car. For whatever reason I think someone fell in love today! :inlove: It should be interesting when he comes on Friday until the 21st.

Hubby and I were just talking about Woodfield Mall today. We are thinking of staying a night around the Mall before we go to his sisters and then maybe spending a night downtown after we've paid our penance with his family. So I was looking at hotels for both. There was a decent deal for the Palmer House, we really like hotel downtown so I snagged that reservation. I love its design inside and location isn't too bad. I like that it is close to Macy's and the Berghoff!

There are some nice economical hotels around the mall. Of the better regular hotels I like Marriott Schaumburg on Martingale and the Hyatt Regency on Golf Road. There is a new Hampton Inn just opening that overlooks Woodfield Mall and surrounded by wondrous places to eat. Plus you can try out the pillows I love so much, just ask for a non feather one.

How is everyone else? I'm doing just fine. Parents are in town visiting again.

Other than school the only thing on my mind is the imminent release of Pokémon Sun & Moon on November 18th. I'm going with a friend to the midnight release at Nintendo NYC.
We're all good thnx for asking. Sounds like you've made a good decision as to what school to attend. The city seems to suit you. Hope you're having lots of fun adventures and learning what you need for you future.

So funny. We ran out of boxes on Christmas Eve, for the youngest grandson. I had a mac and cheese box. Took out the contents, and wrapped his box with a game inside. He saw the box on Christmas day, didn't open it, when he saw what it was. He was very nice thanking us for mac and cheese (he does love it), so funny. I told him to open the box....boy was he surprised! And very happy. We realized at that point he is the sweetest little guy, ever!
I save nice sturdy boxes during the year. One time one of my boys thought he was getting dishwasher soap because dishes had become part of his chores. He was really happy to find it was a snow globe.

I went to Kohl's this afternoon and looked at the Disney Snow White Collection by Lauren Conrad. I really liked most of it. Some fancy, some dressy casual. Everything is very subtle Snow White. All but the one I purchased and one other those not familiar with Snow White would overlook clothing being themed SW. Everything seemed to run large, very generous sizing.

I did buy the gray top, it is so cute. It came down past my hips which did surprise me by one of the photos I posted earlier, in nowhere near a midriff. *happy dance*
Congrats. I wish I could justify but clothes but seeing I just got a serger running, bought some fabric and I going to the pattern blow out sale, clothes shopping isn't going to happen any tie soon.:( Boots may be another story maybe I could sneak a pair into the house:D

Well did you get the stuff? If you make it I want to see a pic and curious as to the $$$ it costs to duplicate. It was 25% so it was $30
Congrats. No I didn't get to a craft or fabric store yesterday. My big score Friday was about $90 of Nicole Miller for about $12:joyfull: With one of the pieces I'm going to make a simple princess seamed A line dress and infinity scarf. I may make something for my mother with the other piece. Now if I can only get ahead of my holiday projects:banghead:

Both the farm markets I go to have an egg vendor that sell organic brown eggs and they will both take their cartons back and reuse them if they are clean and undamaged to help keep the cost down.:)

Gotta say, I've never heard of egg carton recycling before. I'm glad they clean them first before reusing them. With eggs, you've got to be careful. I think with a small, careful vendor, this is a great idea.

Seems like you picked a nice college in an area that you enjoy. Glad to hear that all is going well, and thanks for dropping in here once in a while, to let us know how things are going. I assume you'll be going home for Thanksgiving break? Don't forget to SLORFT!!! (Save Lots of Room for Turkey! ;) )

One year my BIL wrapped a big tv box for my sister and inside was a ton of balled up newspaper and a gift card to her favorite restaurant. He even acted like the box was super heavy.
