I went to Kohl's this afternoon and looked at the Disney Snow White Collection by Lauren Conrad. I really liked most of it. Some fancy, some dressy casual. Everything is very subtle Snow White. All but the one I purchased and one other those not familiar with Snow White would overlook clothing being themed SW. Everything seemed to run large, very generous sizing.

I did buy the gray top, it is so cute. It came down past my hips which did surprise me by one of the photos I posted earlier, in nowhere near a midriff. *happy dance*

For me, it's not so much the work, prep, cleanup, etc. involved, but when my parents passed away years ago, at least my siblings were still around. So we all would have dinner at my place or my sister's. But then my brothers both moved away, so it was just my sister, myself and hubby. It just wasn't the same at that point, and I kept frustrating myself to "recreate" the sort of idyllic, Norman Rockwell family tradition portrait.

Finally, I gave in to the fact that it would never be the same without my parents and brothers to join us, so I suggested to hubby and my sister that we just go out to eat, and create a "new" tradition. It was awkward the first time we did it, but now we love it. And, we often don't have turkey, either. We've had prime rib, lobster, and other delicious entrees the past few years! :hungry: ;)

I understand about trying to keep traditions up but also have learned new traditions are equally as memorable while still loving the memories of days gone bye.

I've never ordered Turkey at a restaurant for Thanksgiving. The first year we went out to dinner I was prego for the first time and about 2 months along. Meats did not sit well with me at all. :hungover: So I had this wondrous lasagna. And so it began. We moved on over the years to high end steakhouses and have now landed on Harry Caray's for the last 8 years as they have that awesome 24 sides/all you can eat you just order the meat on alacarte. Mine is all accompanied by a few lovely glasses of Riesling. We flop between Ribeye, huge filets and my Mom always eats the Prime Rib.

And @MinnieM123 you will appreciate this....my Mom is so much like your Mom was...she'll always pick out the Prime Rib (which none of us really care for over steak) and try to convenience us that we should order it too, we have the same head banging conversation every year-just like you and your Mom with Sweet Potatoes. :joyfull:

Mine is It's A Wonderful Life. I'll only watch it in black and white. My other favorite is the Muppets Christmas Carol. We have a boc of Christmas movies but no matter how busy we are we always watch those 2 together as a family. Now where did I put the box of holiday movies? Better go look for it this weekend.

And I will leave the room over watching A Wonderful Life. Yep it all ends well but I find 95% just sad.

Good evening all. I hope you all had a wonderful week-end. I 'm going to watch a Holiday baking Championship. I admire the skills of so many people. Including the baker's on here.

Last two days have been just beautiful, high 60's, bright sun, little wind. Today DD and I drove like little fools all over Chicago Suburbs hitting the first of the Holiday Craft Fairs. So much fun.

@MouseDreaming I was in your next of the woods today and went to the fair at your kids high school today. Went from their to COD, now that wasn't a short detour.

I just looked at the collection online. That gray top is tempting. A lot of it looks really nice.

I bought It's a Wonderful Life a few years ago, and it is still in the shrink wrap. It has a great ending but I really have to be in the mood to watch it. I usually just catch bits and pieces on tv throughout the season.

Happy farm market Saturday. I really don't need anything but I have to return egg cartons and maybe I'll luck into a few things I didn't get yesterday. I'm also going to grab a few things for the holidays like disposable pans. I'm not the biggest fan of those but my dh likes them for when he runs the smoker. Have a great weekend everybody:joyfull:

"return egg cartons" ?????????

I buy disposable pans in bulk. I BBQ far more than I use my stove/oven, year round. Putting my pans on BBQ not good.

I spent most of the day with my family today, it was my niece's 12th birthday! I can't believe she is 12 already. It make me feel kind of old!

My sister recently got a new toy schnauzer puppy and he it totally in love with my schnauzer. He followed her around all day and even napped with his head on her. It was pretty sweet. My sister's dogs are coming to stay with us (they are going to Disney & a cruise) until we leave for our cruise, and my sister was concerned that the new dog would be uncomfortable with us since we hadn't met him yet. Well, looks like she doesn't have to worry about that, the pup will be totally comfortable with Kapono!
.
On a different note I am kind of stuffed from Lou Malnati's pizza (gosh that is tremendous stuff) and Garrett's cheese popcorn. :hungry: I think there might be another bowlful in about a half hour. Hubby brought home a full pizza and 2 of their leftover slices from lunch so the full pizza is going to be frozen up into portions. That should tide us over until the end of December when we have Christmas with his family.

I really love the gray one but I liked it from when I first saw the picture online. I really like the darker dress too. The light skirt is pretty but I'm a bit too old for the style. Some of the blouses were very pretty and so were some of the sweaters. They had them all together on one square rack so it was easy to find the entire SW collection.

Yep. If I bought it I'd have to skip to the last 15 minutes.

Wow! On the threshold of the teen years. :jawdrop:

Awe. Wonder if the Pup kinda looked at her as an adoptive Mom? So sweet. :inlove:

I want both now. I should have read this earlier today...I actually drove right past Woodfield on the expressway late morning, I could have had both Malnati's pizza and picked up some Garrett's.

The puppy (about 6 months out) cried and howled when hubby took our dog out to the car. For whatever reason I think someone fell in love today! :inlove: It should be interesting when he comes on Friday until the 21st.

Hubby and I were just talking about Woodfield Mall today. We are thinking of staying a night around the Mall before we go to his sisters and then maybe spending a night downtown after we've paid our penance with his family. So I was looking at hotels for both. There was a decent deal for the Palmer House, we really like hotel downtown so I snagged that reservation. I love its design inside and location isn't too bad. I like that it is close to Macy's and the Berghoff!

One of my sisters has chickens and friends and family are always saving egg cartons for her. They get filled fast and I don't have to buy them.
