That's a great thing to do. I still love playing the piano. We bought an electronic kind, even though I learned on a baby grand (my parent's piano). It's so dry out here you would spend a fortune having a regular piano tuned, and eventually the sound board would crack, due to no humidity. ( Which is currently at 11 percent out here right now. ( my skin is scaring me, I look like an alligator, even though I just put on an expensive moisturizer. Learning to play is so much fun. Then listening to music, you play is fun too. That's a great gift, the guitar!

I gave my grand to a piano store. Had it since childhood when it unexpected wound up on my doorstep by movers right after we bought this house. :cautious: The only time I miss it is when I am really angry or stressed. I could blow off a great deal of steam playing some strong, pounding pieces. :cyclops:

As far as your hands mine have taken a beating yearly with the cold and stuff doing what I do. I've tried just about everything and then found a winner. It at times can slightly make your hand spotty pink for a few minutes but it isn't greasy ever and completely absorb. Runs about $5 a container which usually lasts about an entire winter. Little goes a long way. Use it on feet too. I've been able to buy it at Walgreens, Target, Walmart and several grocery stores.

Oy. Must share the same gene pool as my MIL.
Well, honestly its not that bad. she has a good excuse. We havent gone together in like.. a decade and half.
Last trip all together was also to Cancun I think, all the way to the early 2000's.

My brother just simply doesnt like to go together.
And usually my mother either goes with me to trips, or with my sister (my sister's husband flat out refuses to go overseas. Even when he's technically both US and Mexican citizen. Everyone else got US visas and passports ready)
So we have never been all 4 together in a long time.

Soooooooooo no Trick or Treat for us this year. My daughter broke her ankle at school. We just got home from the hospital. :grumpy: My family is going to get her bags of candy instead.
Sympathy like. I hope she gets well soon and isn't in any pain. James and his fiends aren't going out either they're having a party tomorrow instead and best of all it's not at my house.:D Our town is doing trunk or treat tomorrow so I get to do a drop James off and end enjoy my candy free day:joyfull:

Okay, I'm caught up , now. We had to come home early. A fire, 3 miles south of the kids, house, moving toward them. (I knew this heat, would cause trouble). We are in a drought, at the moment. Houses 1/2 mile south of them are being evacuated. We smell the smoke and see the smoke from our house. We are about 8 miles away. I have to say, it's time for another "rain dance". This time I want to target Colorado...we need it!
OMG that's horrible. I hope her and her family stay safe

In other news, my mother asks.. I mean.. DEMANDS all our family (brother, sister, me) go to vacations together. Since we haven't been out of home together in almost a decade.
So she's even says no excuses and that she will pay my part.. allright then. Now lets see if my work leaves me free time. as I have been out for vacations already(the cruise) on this year.. twice (the first being disney/universal)

We're probably going to Playa del Carmen (next to cancun, near the archeological section)
I hope you can take the time off, that sounds like a really fun trip

So I have one more week of work. At this time next week, I will have completed my hours for my internship. I will give them the evaluation form from school, and as soon as I get that back, I am giving my two weeks notice, only coming in on Fridays. And when I give my notice, I'm hoping they just tell me not to even come back. I'm pretty worn out from being sick (last night I went to bed before 10 pm and practically passed out). Have a feeling that will happen again tonight.

I picked up a few more hours tutoring, which is pretty good money, especially since the school doesn't withhold taxes for student employees. And it means I can just go to work and then drive up the hill to go to class. Instead of driving 40+ minutes to work plus another 30 to school.

In other news, I got a guitar. Our neighbors are moving to downsize, and they were just like, "Here, you want this?" And I'm not about to say no to a new instrument. I need to buy a guitar pick for it, and, ya know, teach myself to play, but before long, I should have at least a basic understanding of four instruments. :D

Especially if I no longer have to work Fridays and can put in more time practicing the guitar.
It sounds like you've made some really good decisions and have fun with your guitar. I wish I had any musical talent at all but alas I'm totally tone deaf. In more ways than one:hilarious::facepalm:

I love that stuff. I discovered it at a craft show out in Lancaster Pa many years ago. My local Target carries it but the best prices seems to be at little family stores out by Lancaster. Actually the small stoes out there seems to have bargains on almost everything and I can find Unker's out there. Unker's is a cross between Vic's rub and icy hot, good for almost everything that ails you:)

I made it through last night, it was rough but we held each other together. At least i got to the sewing machine store on the way and ordered the part for the serger. I also got everything for the sewing goody basket my ds puts together for Christmas every year. I'm going to stop at the farm market before heading to her mass this morning. Coolers are in the car so everything stays at the right temperature during the day.

We have watched the ship load container after container onto the ship. It's a massive undertaking. While everyone else was exploring the ship, we looked behind the scenes. Actually we could see them load of off our balcony.

Haven't ever been on a cruise, but I can really identify with watching behind-the-scenes. I love watching what goes on in any business, behind-the-scenes. I've always been curious, just like you, Bets!

Yep, like all other food advertising...probably took 6 people 2 hours to make the treats look "perfect", and set up and compose the shots. And, who knows how many shots they took before they got the "best" one. Maybe not too many if they weren't in a refrigerated room... :cyclops: ;)
Pretty sure it ain't comin' to your table lookin' that "composed".
Probably more like this...

You know, budget cuts and all...!!! :hilarious: :D ;)

This reminds me of a guy I knew years ago. He was a photographer, and he did a lot of food advertising photos for magazines, and box photos for pots and pans, etc. (What you immediately see on a box in a store has incredible power--you'll either stop and look, or move on--thousands of dollars in potential sales revenue, hanging on the "right" photo.) He had some big-name clients. I recall one shoot he was doing with a designer, and it was for a wok with fresh veggies on the side (to add interest) in the photo. To get that "perfect" shot, he took hundreds of pictures, and they were there for close to 12 hours! :jawdrop: I had no idea the amount of work that goes into a professional photo shoot like that.
