Okay, I'm caught up , now. We had to come home early. A fire, 3 miles south of the kids, house, moving toward them. (I knew this heat, would cause trouble). We are in a drought, at the moment. Houses 1/2 mile south of them are being evacuated. We smell the smoke and see the smoke from our house. We are about 8 miles away. I have to say, it's time for another "rain dance". This time I want to target Colorado...we need it!

Reese cups makes everything better.

Boy howdy, ain't that the truth...!
We have a candy jar on the break room table (it was displaced to our adjacent office kitchen by the b-day festivities today) that is filled with mini-sized candy...Reece's, M&M's, Skittles, Sour Patch Kids, Twix, Kit Kat, Twizzlers, Swedish Fish, Almond Joy, Snickers, etc., etc., etc.... :cyclops:
Sometimes, I think our office needs a food/treat intervention...!!!!! :hilarious:

Oh dear.
Hope they contain the fire quickly and your daughter and her family stay safe and unaffected.
Prayers...

Thanks, you are the best! Daughter says it's not out, but there are a lot of fire departments fighting it. She thinks they will be good. Now, all we need is rain....:)

Glad to hear they will be fine!
Prayers for rain...!
We were so far ahead on the wet stuff, but, we're runnin' behind now. The lakes are still pretty well up, but, things are lookin' a little drought-ish ;) again.
It's funny, we have so many hike and bike trails, green areas, trees out the wazoo, parks, and 2 creeks in our neighborhood. But, everything is set up in such a way that even small sections of the neighborhood could not be burned out in a worst case scenario. Plenty of foliage, but, not nearly enough underbrush to fuel a catastrophe. :)

I'm glad your state is aware of the dangers. We go on our merry way. Just hoping for no disaster.

I would go back to work for those kind of perks. You have a great place, to call your second home!

Yes. Yes I do...!
Of course, family first, work second.
As an example, I was in a project programming meeting the other day with a partner when youngest DD called (my phone was in my pocket on vibrate). I don't get calls like that too often, and I apologized, but, he told me straight up "You know, always family first."
That's just the way our firm rolls...everyone knows the partners care, and everyone is better off for it...they understand, and we all kick for them in return...!
And, as y'all've noticed before, the firm is awesome to us in so many ways...!!! :)

Actually, I was just talking about our neighborhood. There are plenty of areas (Google Bastrop fires as just one example) of Texas that have been completely ravaged by fire, over the years.
Fortunately, it's not something we need to worry about...! :)

In other news, my mother asks.. I mean.. DEMANDS all our family (brother, sister, me) go to vacations together. Since we haven't been out of home together in almost a decade.
So she's even says no excuses and that she will pay my part.. allright then. Now lets see if my work leaves me free time. as I have been out for vacations already(the cruise) on this year.. twice (the first being disney/universal)

We're probably going to Playa del Carmen (next to cancun, near the archeological section)

It's so nice to hear about a workplace that is so good to their employee's. It's a very rare thing these days!

They are getting it under control, but it is marching our way, as far as the horrible smoke. This is a crazy year so far. We still have the air conditioning on to clear the smoke in our house. Tonight heat! Can you say:greedy::greedy::greedy::greedy: and certainly nuts. What next, a hurricane in Colorado?;);););)

So I have one more week of work. At this time next week, I will have completed my hours for my internship. I will give them the evaluation form from school, and as soon as I get that back, I am giving my two weeks notice, only coming in on Fridays. And when I give my notice, I'm hoping they just tell me not to even come back. I'm pretty worn out from being sick (last night I went to bed before 10 pm and practically passed out). Have a feeling that will happen again tonight.

I picked up a few more hours tutoring, which is pretty good money, especially since the school doesn't withhold taxes for student employees. And it means I can just go to work and then drive up the hill to go to class. Instead of driving 40+ minutes to work plus another 30 to school.

In other news, I got a guitar. Our neighbors are moving to downsize, and they were just like, "Here, you want this?" And I'm not about to say no to a new instrument. I need to buy a guitar pick for it, and, ya know, teach myself to play, but before long, I should have at least a basic understanding of four instruments. :D

Especially if I no longer have to work Fridays and can put in more time practicing the guitar.
