aaaah gotta love technology right?
when it works, its godsent.. but when it fails.. you just suddenly want to punch someone in the privates where it hurts most.
Much as I love technology, I HATE self-checkouts. It tells me "Place item in bagging area". So I place the item in the bagging area. "Foreign item in bagging area". So I remove the item. Then "Place item in bagging area. "Foreign item in bagging area". :banghead:

Not with what we always wind up getting. he'll spend a half hour just looking up produce codes:hilarious::facepalm::cautious::rolleyes::arghh::mad::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: Men:banghead::banghead::banghead:

Light up Mickey Pumpkin. Out the door cost $2.15 I guess some people don't like their impulse buys at WDW or the receiver of the gift casted it off quickly to GoodWill. It will live on top of her black book shelf.

I tried hummus on a plane and also in a dish at DisneyWorld.. big nope nope for me. Dont know why but it tastes.. weird for me.

Oh, that's too bad. I love hummus!! :hungry: And, keep in mind that it may be the way it was prepared--it's like everything else--there's good hummus and then there's not so tasty hummus. :cautious: At our grocery store, we have about 3 brands of hummus and I definitely like one much better than the other two they sell. I've also had homemade hummus from a nice lady at work, who grew up in Lebanon. It's her grandmother's recipe, and it was delicious.

I don't think I will ever understand actually getting up before 9 am by choice. Other than for Disney. That is the exception

I love early morning--I like the quiet. Even my dog is quiet for the most part. He joins me after I've been up for a little while. Then he gets curious  and the quiet ceases. He likes to explore around the kitchen in particular, and knocks all kinds of stuff over, including his metal food/water bowls, which make a big clang when they hit the floor.

The other morning, he spied a tiny piece of his dog food that somehow ended up underneath a stepstool in the kitchen. He's too big to fit under the stepstool, so when he tried to get under it, it toppled over and made a huge thud when it hit the floor (this was before I had coffee . . .:cautious: ). He's really just a canine wrecking ball . . .

There's a way to regain your sanity. Go to a register that has a living, breathing human standing behind it. That's what I do! :D

Bologna :hungover: I always say if you gave me $100 bill to eat a piece of cold bologna....I'll tell you to keep your money. Fried bologna is okay.

I'm not a huge fan of cold bologna but it would be easy to eat that for $100. Heck I'd even do it for $5. But there are a lot of other things I wouldn't want to eat for any amount of money (although I'd probably try for money).

Good morning, to everyone. We leave at 4:30 A.M. tomorrow for Disney World. I hope to finish my packing today. Yes, I'm behind. It's for only 5 days in the parks. Hope to try food and wine, or just the food!

Have a safe trip, I'm looking forward to your impressions on Food and Wine or as hubby and I called it....the Food Olympics! So much delicious food!

That's normally what I do, but there have been a few times at the grocery store near school where the only open register with a human was the express line and I had more than 15 items, or there haven't been any lines with humans open.

Unless I have an item or two and the regular lines are super crowded, I prefer the regular line. A lot faster, I don't have to argue with a machine, and I kind of just want someone to bag my groceries for me. They do it so much better, and I'm kind of lazy...:joyfull:

TRIP REPORT, Day 7 Part 5!

San Juan, PR
So, After finishing watching.. It was time to return to the Sub (boy.. we were tired for walking so much! mother complained of why she had to bring elevation sandals instead of tennis lol)

Anyway, we walked all the way from El Morro towards the entrance rotunda. luckily we didnt have to wait much and there were some benches available to sit down.

After 15 minutes, our tour operator came for us and we went to check the oldest San Juan section.
euqNkNp.jpg

My mom unfortunately had a big disappointing as the second oldest church was under renovation as it was literally falling apart (according to our tour operator)
KIYJrZi.jpg

We passed a few landmarks including the Statue of Ponce de Leon. Who "found" and conquered San Juan to start the era of Spanish dominance.

And a few other landmarks that were under heavy renovation.

Then we went towards the main church, which was my mother request from the start (der god, everything has to have religious stuff for her lol)
The church was very similarly built as the one in my hometown. Just more detailed and cream colored with gold details.

With a "floating" Christ Cross right above the main ceremonial table.

The church had nice stained glass and a lot of statues.
The damage to the church was also very apparent. Paint was coming off and walls were damaged. It indeed was for a renovation.
Then they also had the tombs of famous spanish governors and rulers. Including Ponce de Leon's.

And some crypts and Chapels.

And as usual of latinamerica. Big devoting towards the virgin Mary.
After visiting the church , my mother wanted to buy a memoralia. But she took EONS to decide what to buy.
The driver took 3 turns and she was still inside.. argggghh..

After literally pushing her as we had limited time left... we returned to our Van...
Our driver took us to the "avenue of presidents" (where theres tons of statues of the past presidents/governors of PR and USA presidents)..
We got dropped down 4 blocks from the Cruise terminal so we could go "shopping" once our time slot ended.

We were dropped on the Colon statue plaza
eaxctC3.jpg

The place was filled with antique shops and other stuff. Nothing very fancy and kinda expensive.
The stores nearby are cheaper and offer wider variety.
Unfortunately, becoming a trend.. even "puerto rican" trinkets and mementos, are mostly made in china.

After that, We went to return to the ship.. where a huge crowd of angry people was lining up.
Imagine 200 folks trying to get into the Terminal, with only 3 security guards checking the Ids.
Bonus points for these security guards being brave and dead set to respect the rules. As a group of 5 young adult aholes tried to skip not only the lines, but remove the metal rods that made the lines to try to skip the security line. Everyone shouted at them to get back to the line. They tried to have their way with a small officer of latin origin. But she stayed put and got the attention of 2 other big guards.. Until then it was clear the young adults were going to get a good beatdown or arrested.. so they pretty much sulked being sent to the longest line and told to stay put.. aaah!!! sweet justice and karma!.

Once inside, we made up to the cruise and we went towards our room for a quick shower and change of clothes.
Then we decided to head to the windjammer to have lunch. Which was pretty decent and was not as busy as other days...

Once out, it was time for a "tour" behind the scenes on the opal theatre, with a talk with some of the staff of CATS. including some dancers.
They were really nice. The backspace of the Opal theater is very interesting, since they do 3-4 shows per trip.. so they have a lot of content cleverly tucked in the backend and along tons of equipment and control stuff.
They also said some of the staff actually do more than one show. Example, some of the dancers/gymnasts etc...

CATS and Singers staff..
Left girl = Computer center and control room (top floor on the opal theater stands)
Left man = Cargo, props, systems, helper. right behind the opal theatre and sides.
Right girl = One of the "Cats" singers and acrobats.
Right man = "come fly with me" singer.

dlIUj8t.jpg

After talking, we literally were kicked by the guy who does "Munkustrap" of CATS(the singer in the videos of the Schooner Bar in my prior reports). Because they were closing the doors to practice.

So, returning back to the room to meet with my mother.. we found this fellow..
w9y8DCI.jpg

Then we went downstairs to the Casino area and then towards the STUDIO B ice Rink. As we went to see FROZEN IN TIME :p
Place was packed again because the reservations were full. but we lucked out and found 2 spots right infront.
vpX5FYj.jpg

We managed to see the "Writer" and the "Artist" segments from very up close!. Plus everyone in ourline high fived the guys who did the most dangerous stunts in the ice ring during the "Emperors new clothes" segment.

Once out, it was time for dinner!

Nothing fancy as we got our usual food (no photos again sorry). Which was ok again.. and then returned to our room to sleep. As tomorrow was the last docking day before returning to fort lauderdale. It was time for Labadee Haiti.

That church was pretty, it seemed a little light and bright inside. I like old churches, it seems like people back in the day put a lot of thought and care into their design and included so many details and beautiful artwork. I'm kind of a sucker for pretty stained glass too.

2 am is pretty quiet too...:D

My brain doesn't turn off early enough for me to get enough sleep and get up that early. I can't get to sleep before at least 11 pm, sometimes midnight. If I'm asleep before then, it's because I'm either really sick or completely worn out.
