Ivory Tower Squabble EST 2011. WINDMILL SURVIVOR
That's a good thing. Lord only knows what all that cherry coke did to my stomach!

Places like Chipotle would have been great to have when I was in school. It's not cheap necessarily, but I could have afforded it occasionally.

My DD use to order the Burrito bowl and a burrito bread on the side too. She could only eat about half and then she'd take the rest back in its container to her dorm and next day roll a burrito with the rest, that way it was not soggy.

That's a positive trend about students not chugging as much soda anymore. That will save them thousands of useless calories over time. Water is best for everyone.

I wanted to comment about Wendy's. There is one in my area and I get a craving for it maybe 3 times a year. So I went there 2 weeks ago and was shocked by the prices (I thought this was a cheap, fast-food place, right?). The single burgers with cheese, lettuce and tomato were $4.49!!! Good grief. I don't know if it was just this particular franchise or what, but shoot me. I remember (many years ago) when places like Burger King had 50 cent burgers!! I know that Wendy's hasn't always been this highly priced. :jawdrop:

Do y'alls up there not have a value menu...?

I was definitely not raised during any sort of health craze, although the area I grew up in didn't help. People still don't care there. I definitely eat better than I used to though, and my body doesn't like it when I only eat junk anymore. My last trip to WDW confirmed that, I had to detox on fruit and salad for a day about 3 days in. My stomach was not happy with me at all!
Yup, different era. The craze began when I was in elementary school, and we even had education about eating healthy. It was in full swing by the time I was in high school.

I had that happen at WDW one time too. I had been eating too much fried food, and my stomach was not okay with that. I ended up leaving MK on an EMH night and going back to the room, on my way buying a fruit cup and a carrots and celery cup, which I took back with me and ate. By the next day, I was okay, but stuck with fruits, vegetables, and grilled chicken for that day and wasn't eating fried food for several days. Now I alternate, so I eat whatever I want one day, but then watch it the second day, and then alternate after that. Haven't had a problem since then. :)

I don't eat too much fried stuff in Disney. In fact, the only time I ate any fries on my last trip, was a handful of SIL's @ Raglan Road, and they were delicious!
The fried "chips" that came with a lot of my meals got real old, real fast.

I do, however, eat way too much MEAT on the DDP, and not nearly enough fibre!

You beat me. I was just about to post this.
Sadly, the Canadian Tar-jay experience was a pale imitation of the American version.

I was so excited when I heard they were coming; visited one of the first stores to open; and said, "never again".
As it was, I had a relative visiting from Calgary this fall, and she wanted to go. While the experience was a hundred-fold better than the first time, it was still a joke compared to the two Buffalo stores we usually frequent.

Target did not take the Canadian consumer seriously. They used our stores as the dumping ground for merchandise that did not sell south of the border. Consumers complained that shelves were never fully stocked, and the selection was sparse and outdated. For this, they deserve to go buh-bye.

If you don't value your customer, you won't have them for very long.

ETA - Just found this article on-line. It pretty much reiterates what I said - just better, with pics of empty shelves.

We were talking about Target today at work, and were wondering why they didn't make it in Canada. After reading your comments and those in the link, I'll go back tomorrow and explain to everyone why it happened. I'll tell them I got it from a reliable source, directly from Canada!

I rarely eat fried food at home, so having it every other day at Disney is part of the fun. :) The chips at England are some of the best fries on the planet.
