Our Market is only open a couple more weeks and the crops are becoming more marginal. Last week I found some nice looking tomatoes and was pretty excited. That was until one emploded literally. The outside still intact the center actually exploded-everywhere. What the heck?
Sympathy like. Ours go until right before Thanksgiving. Tomatoes and such will most likely be done in a couple of weeks with the first frost, but then with winter crops come in and I can't wait for cauliflower and the winter squashes to be in at their best.

Here is the famous Unisphere, symbol of the 1964 World's Fair and promoting the fair's theme of "Peace Through Understanding"

This is the New York State Pavilion. It has been mostly abandoned since the 1970s and is closed to the public

This patch of grass may not look like much, but by using an old map I was able to find out that this was the site of the GE Pavilion and Carousel of Progress during the World's Fair.

Except for a few obvious remnants, there are almost zero things left in the park that indicate that a world's fair ever took place here. Nonetheless, the weather was beautiful today, so I enjoyed walking around the park.
I'm glad you are enjoying city life. I haven't been out there in forever need to fix that in spring. I also haven't been to Edison's lab In West Orange in just about as long I also need to fix that.

At Hershey Park waiting in line for the Claw. My one friend dislocated her shoulder a few weeks ago and is being cautious. The other girl she brought doesn't ride everything. So they went off to ride the pirate ship, which makes me motion sick. But waiting in line by yourself is extremely boring...
I like just about any ride except that one. I don't get sick but I just don't get it. It either makes one not prone to getting sick or just leaves you thinking why?

Yay! I know we aren't supposed to get political here but I'm not going to talk about candidates so I think this will be fine...

I'm glad that you are still taking your opportunity to vote. I'm am pretty passionate about voting rights. Just think less than 100 years ago woman weren't even allowed to vote an now there is a woman running for president (I would think that was cool no matter the party and no I wouldn't vote based on the gender of the individual). I think it is our most important job as a citizen. A lot of people fought very hard to give us the right to vote and I take that seriously. Short of running for office myself it is the only way I can have a say in our government be it from local government to federal. I firmly believe that if one doesn't vote then they have no right to complain.

One time my mom didn't vote in the mayoral election and it came down to a tie. They literally flipped a coin to decide the winner. The guy she didn't want to win won. I told her it served her right for not voting!

Ok off my soapbox now. Anyway hope your vote in goes well!
It's so much easier than it used to me. When I first moved over here, I bother because it was so hard. Just to get registered....yikes. All the paperwork involved, plus the length of time it took for everything to get sent back and forth through snail mail. You practically had to start in January if you wanted to make the November election date. But now, you send an email, they email you a form, you print it off and fill it out and mail it back. (wish we could just email it back) and they send you a ballot and instructions in email and you print it off and mail it back. And mail goes way faster now, too. Pretty simple. So I voted in the last couple of elections...it was very important to me and the first time it was a bit more work than it is now, but it was worth it. And now that it's so much easier, there's no reason NOT to.

And this picture has consequences. I snarff'd it up and sent it to my DD as she just loves Rice Crispy treats. More the homemade ones over the prepacked ones. End result as she had to work until 8pm tonight I bought 2 jars of fluff, box of rice crispys, box of food dye, but do to our hatred of marzipan and candy corn reminds me of its cheap cousin I found something better for her to top the lovelies with.

The picture is really small...are those candycorn flavored marshmallows?? Weird.
Something I saw in the US that I wish I had brought back with me are the giant s'mores marshmallows! We don't have real marshmallows here anyway, so any marshmallow is cool, but man those giant ones looked awesome.

I can't post this picture so I'll link to article to Orlando Sentinal. This is the same patch that the huge pumpkin blew down on the toll plaza when we were down there. They pulled busses up to block view and for a while closed down the Epcot Monorail to keep from view. What a mess.

Wow...I didn't figure that a car would be enough to knock over such a structure but ok.
