She's not all that strange. I don't hate tomatoes as much as she does, but I only like them in sauce or, very ocassionally, on a sandwich. I pick them out of salads, have been known not to eat the salad at family dinners specifically because there was tomato in it, and will not eat tomatos as a tomato stack or salad.

Of course, I might not be the best person for determining what is normal...
same, I like them in soups, pastes, etc.. but a raw tomatoe is a big no no.

Here is the famous Unisphere, symbol of the 1964 World's Fair and promoting the fair's theme of "Peace Through Understanding"

This is the New York State Pavilion. It has been mostly abandoned since the 1970s and is closed to the public

This patch of grass may not look like much, but by using an old map I was able to find out that this was the site of the GE Pavilion and Carousel of Progress during the World's Fair.

Except for a few obvious remnants, there are almost zero things left in the park that indicate that a world's fair ever took place here. Nonetheless, the weather was beautiful today, so I enjoyed walking around the park.

Thanks for the photo's. Sounds like you had a great time. I really love looking at pic's with backstories.

Are those the "alien saucer" ships from Men in Black ?

Pretty awesome.

Well no surprise, its a darn fake tree.. the branches are not supposed to fall. I wonder how heavy they are? are they pure plastic? or concrete /metal with reinforcements?

When you look at the branches on the ground you start to understand why it falling down was so freak'n scary. There had been a storm with high winds however the tree was build in theory to sustain hurrican winds. One of those branches coming down could do some real harm to lots of guests and CMs. The tree is very heavy and its base is an oil platform.

37 days until Halloween!

And this picture has consequences. I snarff'd it up and sent it to my DD as she just loves Rice Crispy treats. More the homemade ones over the prepacked ones. End result as she had to work until 8pm tonight I bought 2 jars of fluff, box of rice crispys, box of food dye, but do to our hatred of marzipan and candy corn reminds me of its cheap cousin I found something better for her to top the lovelies with.

Weird, because the "boss" of this english school was very direct.
The TOEFL test is standardized, and doesn't matter if you're Madonna or President Washington. You will still get the same timelines according for everyone. Not sure about IELTS.

Hmpf. I don't get that. There are forms and everything to document the hearing loss. I guess that is where different countries handle thing differently. My DD deals with a chunk of international students and she gets such a chuckle out of the way they wish to prove english proficiency. She has become a master at telling over the phone when they are reading from things like google translate.

Unfortunately, my country is very retrograded in that kind of aspect. Most of the cases they have this "Well sorry for you" mentality.
Rarely companies go above to offer handicapped people a way to get proper service.

So frustrating. Too bad you can't just take a crash course here where you can get everything some others receive. When I was a little kid our public school K-6 elementary had a horrible way which was pretty typical way back then of educating students with differences. They had one room for students 4-11 years old. It was the handicapped room. It ranged from physical disabilities to severe cognative issues. Pretty much once they were put in there, there was no coming out. We have come a very long way in my lifetime.

I can remember when the laws required access to bathrooms for those with physical differences the uproar cause 3 stalls became 2. Being young I couldn't grasp why anyone cared that there was a bigger option. Then came the special parking spots and comments of why so many and worse. So I can't say much to your country, it wasn't different here all that long ago.

Yep, I live about an hour away from it. Although yesterday it was very rainy, lots of traffic, and there was a car on fire on the way so it took longer than usual to get there. The amusement park used to be Peanuts (Charlie brown themed) and called Camp Snoopy and we all called it Camp Shoot me because there were some gang related shootings there when it first opened). It is pretty safe there now, about as safe as anywhere I suppose.

I like shopping at the mall, lots of stores and no sales tax on clothes.

There was a shopping/amusement park indoors in N. Illinois years ago. It was called Old Chicago. It had its issues with Gangs too. Funny it was the heck west of Chicago, part of the reason I think it didn't go over...back then so far from everything and the roads were not what they are now. But given our weather up here I'm somewhat surprised it didn't make it. The Fury was filmed there. Sadly I never got to see it, no way were my folks letting me go all the way out there. :in pain:
