The entire point of what I said was that the overreaction, be it mild or be it extreme, is still an over-reaction. It is a statement to the rest of us that you are pristine, contain no germs of your own and are pure as the driven snow because you washed your damn hands every time you did something human and re-leaved yourselves.

So I just got around to checking my personal email and I got an email from Delta about my upcoming November flight. I had a 7pm flight booked and they have now changed it to 5:39pm. This is not good! I live about an hour to an hour and fifteen (on a good traffic day) away from the airport, I get done with work at 3:30pm it is an inservice day and we are not supposed to take those days off. It is the last flight of the day. I don't know what I should do. Any suggestions?

I'm thinking of explaining the situation to my boss and asking if I can leave an hour early. In the middle school we usually have a long day that we chaperone a trip to a local amusement park and we get comp time for that so I'm going to ask him if I can trade off in advance. Do you think that sounds fair? Hubby isn't home to ask so you guys get the question. I'm pretty mad that Delta changed the time by so much, I purposely booked the 7pm to avoid this situation. I would also like to avoid getting the flight changed to the next day as we have plans with family early that day.

Delta is famous for doing that. That's one of the reasons why I switched (years ago) away from Delta and over to Jet Blue. (I'm not sure if Jet Blue flies out of your area.) Seems to me like you made an effort at selecting an appropriate flight down when you first booked this. Things sometimes happen, and I think that your boss will understand--it's not like you're constantly asking for favors, you know?

I wish we had Jet Blue. We do have another regional airline that I prefer but their last flight was at 3:30pm. I am not usually asking for favors so we'll see what happens.
